A couple of months ago I didn't even know that there was such a thing as "build x building when drone amount = y" And that there were people who actually build more than 3 rax/whatever and not qeue 5 units in all of your buildings :p And I'm probably the norm 'cause alot of players played equal with me | ||

If this poll were to be on the battle.net forums you would probably see a very different break-down of the leagues. I'm almost certain there are more people in the lower leagues than there are in platinum and gold. For example I have a friend who is in bronze and did his placement matches about the same time as me ( I waited awhile after reset). I placed platinum and got Division 31, he placed bronze and got Division 72 or something. I believe division's are created as more people get into the individual leagues. That means then that at the time we placed, which was a a few days ago now, there were 3100 people in plat and 7200 in bronze. So yeah, the majority of people do not place in platinum as this poll may suggest. This poll is skewed due to it being on TL. Is it maybe too easy still to get into plat, yeah probably, I think we need more placement matches, 5 is too few in my eyes. But that's not to say that EVERYONE or even a majority get into platinum or even gold. | ||

I quit BW a year or two after it came out, and I never really knew a competitive scene existed. I'm one of the dreaded SC2 imports to the community. But I've really really enjoyed watching and reading the various TL events/posts since I've been here, and I feel like I'm learning a ton. I'm even watching the Korean BW VoDs now, I'm addicted. This is the first RTS I've played player versus player. So.. be gentle? | ||

I don't know how to deal with reaper rush and 8 pools as protoss, and those happened to me three times in my placement matches. So i went 2-3 in them and got placed in copper. I played a few games after that and won them all. so hopefully will be moving up soon. | ||

For example. Beta start I chose beginner, went 4-1 and got into silver. First reset I chose inter, went 3-2 and got silver Latest reset I chose advanced, went 3-2 and got gold. The system will play you against better players if you estimate your skill being better. | ||

There are divisions with <1200 point players as #1 and some have 1800+. I was just thinking of this yesterday when I was looking at a friends division. Top 25 in my division would top his division because of how new it was. I was also thinking those people who top division with like 1100 points are going to brag about #1 plat which now means squat. ELO is also retarded because of the problems they had with the system. Some had bonus pools of 600+ and got like 1800 points in 2 days. Others are always favored gaining 20+ a game and losing -4 while the unlucky last few are getting +10/-10 per game on average. Once the ELO is fixed then the complete compiled US server rankings should be the best indicators of level. It's where I always looked to indicate how far I've come up through the rankings. | ||

After I got my beta key, I got online, played Zerg for 5 placement games and won all 5 with my formulaic build and rush order. After the 5 games, I've been placed into the Platinum league. IMO, someone like me who wins the 5 placement games should be placed into Gold league, then once proven, promoted into Platinum. I've not played a game since I've been placed into the Platinum league. I think I'll just be roadkill there. | ||

It's kind of scary, but I guess some people don't have to be that active to play. I still haven't finished my placement matches for 1v1, but 2v2 is plat. Anyway what does leagues matter? Nothing! I always meet opponents that are favored to win and they're not even in my own league. I thought the point with divisions was to meet players in the same division, but I never do that. | ||

With a good overview in the game and good tactical decisionmaking a good player should easily be able to get platinum with around 60 average. (I have 100, used to have 220 in WC3, and still im partially spaming apm by giving multiple commands) Even harassing plus macroing up simultationusly doesn't take much apm anymore (speaking as a terran who likes many forms of harassing) Plus, he is protoss. Here's the situation: 2/5 games, the player just left (no reason whatsoever, I wasn't even at an advantage); They were both ranked silver. 2/5 games, the opponent was bronze. 1/5 games, the opponent was unranked. (EDIT: Don't know about now but he/she was unranked when I faced him/her) So now I'm gonna be stuck in plat. The strangest thing is that I never even faced any plat or gold players so how did I get placed in plat? EDIT: For some reason, I can't view other people's profile anymore; I tried to check up on the unranked player but couldn't | ||

Won 3 placements matches easily, but then I got matched up against a platinum player who was actually pretty damn good, and I got owned. Won the last one, so I got in Gold. ...This is to people saying that you can't be matched up against plat players in the placement matches. :[ | ||
