Honestly 24 hours is usually good enough for most of TL to be on at least once.

yeah. we really cant find a right answer here. there are allways ppl on both side, those who want 12 hours, and those who want 6 days or more. instead, the best way would be a spoiler-tag or something. so that those who want to know the score right after the match, can do that, and those who dont want to, dont have to.

1 hour. Honestly people who whine about spoilers are the next most annoying thing after flaming fanboys. If you go into a thread that has "TSL" in its title, expect to get spoiled.

I guess usually 1 day is enough for places where people can avoid them with due care, but if we're talking about a poll on the front page it should be more like 2-3 days.
(I just loaded up TL after a long weekend spent away from the computer, anxious to catch the VODs, and saw 2 results right off the bat )

Should have been longer, especially considering yesterday night was Superbowl Sunday for those of us in the U.S. and if you missed the games yesterday then you'd likely have to wait until this afternoon/tonight to catch them.

My most sincere apologies to anyone I spoiled. It was a lapse in judgment and I'm very sorry.

1 day is fine.

people who care enough to get mad after ONE day are ppl who are constantly checkin up on it anyway. other's are just mild on lookers who might be upset but it won't ruin their day @_@

I was able to watch most of them live, but missed 2-4 games (depending on results ofc). Downloading now, but going to school in a few... I'll watch them tomorrow... therefore I vote 2 days.

1 or 2 days and if someone waits that long/cares that much from then on they should have the wits to avoid places they are likely to get spoiled.

I'd say probably until the VOD's are out and available to watch, so what, maybe 2 days?

Though if you don't want the games spoiled but go into threads with TSL in the title its pretty self-explanatory that you could run into spoilers.

1-2 days:

Saturday evening many of us are probably away an can't watch the whole stream, i mostly watch the saturday games on sunday afternoon and right after that the live cast.

So 2 days seems perfect, 1 day is ok

I voted 2 days but I haven't had time to watch the games from this weekend until today. Still have Mondragon vs. Brat-OK left. But I usually have time on Sundays for the Saturday games and the sunday games I should be able to watch live if it's not superbowl the same day. Looking at how the poll is looking i think 12h, 1, 2 and three days has such a commanding lead over 4 days+ that the best option (even if 2 days leads with a couple percents) would be 3 days. Just so that people wont have to avoid this great site if they don't have all the time in the world to watch VODs.

Calm down. The reason this thread was made is because I made a poll (which is unavoidably part of the forum structure) a bit too early for many people's tastes, which is entirely understandable. This has nothing to do with the spoiler threads. The complaints that lead to this poll are entirely valid.

I think this poll is really referencing the fact that the last poll generated some complaints for spoiling the results on the front page. Clearly we have spoilers and spoiler warnings on threads to prevent people from stumbling onto them, but the front page is another story.

I voted one day, but I really think it should be 24 hours after VODs are released. Just to make certain that if someone missed the broadcast they have ample opportunity to see the games before results are all over the place.

EDIT: The spoilers didn't affect me, but I would be disappointed if they had. Thanks for being so frank and accountable with this.

yeah it was a little annoying, I couldn't watch the stream yesterday due to clanwar duties, the cast finished at around 11pm last night for me and I had college today so it was hardly convenient for me to stay up and wait for vods and as I went onto game 2 of ret vs CaStrO, i looked to the right and

I've got a Poll: How long should TL wait after I post how I'm pretty cool because I said JF would win before you change the Poll?

The answer is like five minutes apparently.

I'm fine with 1-2 days, finding time within 30 or so hours of the game to watch them should be do-able, and if you can't find the time then, just avoid possible spoiler forums till you do. I'd go as long as 4 days before putting spoilers on the front page.

To be really safe, if the games are on the weekend it is probably best to wait until Tuesday. A lot of people can be completely away from their computers on a given weekend and want to surf TL at work on Monday but not able to watch until the evening. If TL was purely a news site I'd say sooner is fine but there are a lot of other things to do here.
It's supposed to be automatic but actually you have to press this button.

Essentially what we're talking about is a game or series being spoiled just by the simple act of visiting teamliquid.

News posts are fine because if one hasn't seen the games, you don't click on the post. They can go up straight away.

A poll on the side of the screen or anything that you can't help but see should happen at least 3 days afterwards, sometimes longer depending on the circumstances (e.g. Xmas holidays or whatever).

Can't understand people saying 1 day, that seems so rediculous.
When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive - to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.

I'd say 2 days. News is news and if you wait to long it's history. I missed the first set on Sunday, but downloaded it Sunday night and watched it on Monday morning. I feel that anyone who would really care enormously about spoilers would find a way to watch them within 48 hours. If you haven't watched a set of games within 48 hours, you should probably expect to get spoiled somewhere. Hell, if I miss anything by 5 minutes I try to stay off of TL so I don't get spoiled somewhere.

I D/L the vods as soon as they come out and just don't visit TL until I watch them, I recommend that to anyone who can't view them immediately, and care about being spoiled.

As for my opinion on spoilers, I think 4 days minimum, which would be midweek after the casts.

I have a lot of things to do on the weekend, and TSL casts take up a lot of time, its just not viable for me to watch live. I don't want to catch a game here or there, I want to really enjoy the event and wait until I have time to watch a full set at a time. It takes me a few days to finish watching the games.

I have tried hard to get the no spoiler thing but I cant so I'd say 12hours. If you have not watched live you dont care enough and deserve to have the outcome spoiled. In other sports I like to know the results even if I was not able to watch the game/competition when it aired. It's one thing knowing who won and another thing knowing how he/she won it.

Some of us actually have obligations in the form of school or work which make watching live impossible.

I'd say about a day. I've missed a bunch of matches due to life and weather (for instance...that same 50 feet of snow that buried intrigue), and had to watch them later.

Also, I missed the NATE MSL finals because I didn't feel like waking up at 4am or whatever, and before I could watch them, it was spoiled for me in a thread that had nothing to do with MSL at all (or even anything to do with Flash or Jaedong). That was annoying. So yeah, the argument "nyahhhhh just don't look at threads with 'TSL' in the topic" is crap.

for the people that are saying dont click on the TSL thread and you wont get spoiled, there was a poll with the results on the front page, you could be in the random funny pictures that make me laugh thread and get spoiled.

3 days would be nice, cause i usually dont have time on sat or sun to watch, usually have monday to spend watching replays and vods.

or just keep spoilers off the front page, then if i click on a page about something i dont want to be spoiled about, then its my own damn fault.

To be honest, it should be as long as it takes to get the VODs on youtube (or I guess torrentz are fine too) so that the people who couldn't watch it live are able to catch up.

Where's the option for "immediately" ?

I feel like we have this argument all too often. It always degenerates into "DON'T CLICK LINKS ON TL IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED" vs whatever the other, irrelevant side might be.

2 days.

I feel like we have this argument all too often. It always degenerates into "DON'T CLICK LINKS ON TL IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED" vs whatever the other, irrelevant side might be.

You are missing the entire point of the question. They are wondering how long until results dont need to be hidden behind spoiler tags or spoiler threads and can be placed in the open such as the front page or in any random thread.

i'm gonna be a giant douchebag and call you all fucking nerds

honestly, 1 day?

do you honestly get on your computer every fucking day?. holy fucking nerds.

i love starcraft and i love the TSL. I don't expect spoiler dates to accommodate people who are inactive or aren't terribly interested, but 1 day seems extreme to me.

Seriously, you go away with you girlfriend for a weekend of hot sex and you get back and deserve to have the tournament spoiled cause you didn't camp out your computer?

You work 2 days of overtime in a row and don't have time to go home, so you spend the night and deserve to have the TSL spoiled?

/endless examples.

2 days is ok. though i think 3 - 5 would be better (i realize this is going to the other extreme and accomodating the like 1% of people at tl.net who don't check it every day. So, 2 then?).

edit - fuck it. it should be like 5 days. hmph.

I'd say 2 days... gives people enough time to DL the torrent and watch them, any more than that is a bit excessive.

This poll is useless.

There is no way that there would be this many votes for 1 day or 12 hours if it specified just a little bit more. 12 hours or 1 day for Opt-in spoilers is fine. A day or 12 hours is absurd for splashing across the front page.

There's a ton of votes based on the assumption that this poll is referring to creating a thread that labels itself as being a spoiler and people have to click on it to be spoiled. Please don't use this as an excuse to spoil people who simply visit the website..

1 day. If you don't watch it live it's because you were at the hospital removing a harpoon out of your chest, meaning you'll be back home in the early morning.

yeah. we really cant find a right answer here. there are allways ppl on both side, those who want 12 hours, and those who want 6 days or more. instead, the best way would be a spoiler-tag or something. so that those who want to know the score right after the match, can do that, and those who dont want to, dont have to.

I said 2 days... i think a good portion of TLers are pretty busy like myself who are in school + work... college alone is bad enough but that plus work and all the other nuances of life (like the blizzard my area got this weekend again) really limit the time we can spend on luxuries like the TSL. I unfortunately have not been able to watch any live streams but have been able to watch all the VODs spoiler free... and i feel like all the time i've needed, despite all the stuff on my plate, is two days... so i think 48 hours is a fair amount of time... though obviously there are legitimate cases for over and under this amount of time as well

I just hope that there arent any spoilers posted in plain sight less than ~2 days after results because i find surprise and anticipation is the key to enjoyment while watching these games. So far i think TL has done an amazing job of avoiding spoling anything and i commend them for that.

Let the poll decide. Personally, I don't care about spoilers at all, but I think a reasonable time would be 2 days, which is more than enough time to watch the VODs.

it usually takes about 1-3 days for me to see the vods at ggnet unless i saw it live which would be about half the time. i got spoiled by the poll with mondy>brat and that bummed me out, was mostly my fault tho xd

it was actually my fault entirely, u see i had to vote first cause i was like "omg gosi vs jf was awesome i must vote" without realizing that it would show the results of each series, so there u have my opinion, stupid ppl will always find a way to get spoiled and its almost impossible to not spoil xD

I'd be very unhappy if their weren't at least spoiler tags for the first few days. I actually voted > week (or one week) because I don't see how anti-spoilers ever hurt anyone. With school and work, it can be hard to watch the vods in the first few days. The TSL is my top priority during my free time, but I'm still not caught up yet . I'm not dumb enough to click on something that says "Ro8" when I haven't finished watching the Ro16, so as long as things are properly labeled and have spoiler tags, it's fine.

So far the coverage has been great for me! I just goto the news post, download the torrents, and watch them later without opening any spoilers.

it showed the results anyway without having to vote. it wasn't yout fault, it was an error in judgement by tl.

Anything less than 2 days is bad imo. Altho I voted 4days, now it seems too much, it's old news by day 4.
(I'm assuming this poll is about posting the results on the front page.)

2/3 days is good.

I actually voted for 1 day but the more i think about it i feel that it make's more sense to make it 2 days, since if you allready know the result, you dont need to read about it, and if you dont know the result you have a full day after the event to look at the games. and if you dont care about getting spoiled then when the second day come's along you wont mind getting spold (and 2 days is still pretty fast in my mind for news to come out of the TL writers, considering the good quality of the news posts)

Or why not release all the news from TSL on tuesday? it give's alot of time for the writers to do an exilent job and enough time for all the one's who missed the event to see it.

Well, what ever you decide to do i think its gonna be great

Since not everybody can watch them live or at least not all of them and many dont have the time to watch all vods in one evening I'd say 2 days

Well I voted 2 days, don't really have access to the internet much on weekends (decided to get rid of it from my home because it was too distracting) so I generally download the VODs at work on a Monday and watch that evening.
Though my solution is pretty simple.
Go to TL, click relevant news articles, download torrents, leave TL

Even front page articles don't have to spoil people that haven't watched the games. The paragraph preview before clicking on the article doesn't have to spoil the games!

instantly - for threads that are made for talking about results, otherwise spoiler tags
2 days - For front page articles that spoil -in the article-, or spoiler tags in the forum
5+ days - for front page, unable to opt-out spoilers, such as poll spoilers, or spoilers in previews of front page articles.

Again, nothing of value can be taken from these poll numbers. it is too simple.

I voted for one day, because I usually get to watch the games I want to see within that time period. (And the TSL games on Saturday are most likely going to get spoilered on Sunday's commentary.) (Luckily TSL starts 30mins after I get back from work. <3)
I can see a two-day rule being rather plausible though, as it does give people who are stuck at work/busy with commitments time to see games with the thrill of not knowing results.

I guess you need to differentiate between spoilers that can be avoided, e.g. you put a spoiler warning in front of a news post, or if they can't be avoided (seeing the results on the front page in a poll without any spoiler warning).

Voted 3 days.

I agree with Mora (except for the namecalling ), there's people who want to follow the TSL at a possibly delayed pace.

Several times I read that professional quality is one of the goals of TSL 2. Accommodating the minority late-watcher group who would still want to enjoy the TSL without getting spoiled, should be part of that. It is an investment in being careful not to spoil and an exercise in keeping the news reporting, at the same time, attention grabbing and exciting, and it is professional to accommodate as many people as is reasonably possible.

Please keep the front page spoiler free as long as possible. If you must spoil (like in the polls case) I think wednesday/thursday is a good deadline for that. As you gave about half the week to watch the VODs and still have enough time left untill the next matches are happening.

Of course in the best case there arent ANY spoilers at the front page at all.

Well for some match days the vods havent been uploaded for 2 days until after it was shown live (Infernal vs Terran), so it certainly needs to be longer than that.

I just read all the results anyway, and then only watch some recommended games when I find myself bored. I think 2 days are more than enough for anybody really interested to be able to catch up.
