Latest Updates

00:04 GMT (+00:00): DRG 4 - 3 MKP on Tal'Darim non-cross. DRG opened the game with a ling baneling bust and killed a lot of SCVs but not enough to end the game. MKP brought the aggression in the midgame but engaged on creep several times and DRG took out his army, one last-ditch all-in with the SCVs were how MKP made his last stand but it wasn't enough.

23:46 GMT (+00:00): DRG 3 – 3 MKP on Metropolis cross. DRG did the roach baneling bust once against only this time MKP didn't scout at all and his army was across the map when it hit. DRG punished greedy play and won.

23:36 GMT (+00:00): MKP 3 – 2 DRG on Entombed cross. MKP got a third orbital after a normal 1 rax cc into 3 rax and ebay, then moved out with his first pair of medivacs and simply attacked and beat DRG's roach army.

23:24 GMT (+00:00): MKP 2 – 2 DRG on Cloud Kingdom. DRG started the game with a roach baneling bust, which killed a few SCVs but never made it up the ramp to the main. He pulled back and MKP started harassing with blue-flame hellions and marines while DRG tried to control the map with mutas. One bad fight mid map with mutas against upgraded marines lowered their numbers enough for MKP to kill the third and win the game.

23:04 GMT (+00:00): DRG 2 – 1 MKP on Antiga. This time MKP played a more typical double ebay marine style, but did very few drops and DRG kept him in his base with mutas upgraded with double spire. DRG stayed on lair the entire game and crushed MKP's one push, then kept control with mutas and finally won with a few infestors.

22:44 GMT (+00:00): DRG 1 – 1 MKP on Metropolis cross. MKP opened with 2fac after expanding, getting double armory after his third. DRG killed the initial small tank force well and took initiative from there, keeping MKP in his base with drops and harassing the Terran third with roaches. MKP could never come out ahead under the pressure and died a slow, harassment based death.

22:30 GMT (+00:00): MKP 1 – 0 DRG on Shakuras cross. MKP took an early third and went into the same biomech build he has been using against DRG this year. Taking a fourth during his first push, they traded armies several times before DRG finally began to wear down. As he tried to tech to brood lords, MKP overpowered him thanks to several favorable battles where banelings were trapped behind roaches, and MKP won before the late-game units could be morphed.

22:08 GMT (+00:00): Small break while everyone watches Thorzain win DreamHack, now the finals are starting! Game 1 is on Shakuras.

21:40 GMT (+00:00): DRG 3 – 0 Ganzi on Antiga. DRG annoyed Ganzi with mutas while Ganzi sat on 3 bases and teched up. DRG went to 5 bases and did a huge midgame bust with lings, mutas, and banelings, and broke straight through Ganzi's defense to take the game and match.

21:24 GMT (+00:00): DRG 2 – 0 Ganzi on Metropolis cross. Ganzi opened with a proxy factory and floated it into DRG's main to make hellions, killing a handful of drones in the process. As it moved to a normal midgame he tried drops but DRG repelled them with ease, and the game ended as both players were maxed and Ganzi moved his entire army to DRG's fourth only to find out he didn't have siege and DRG backstabbed him to kill the entire Terran force.

21:10 GMT (+00:00): DRG 1 - 0 Ganzi on Entombed cross. Ganzi tried taking a hidden command center, but DRG scouted it rather quickly so it turned into a pretty normal 3 orbital build. From there DRG made it to infestors and Ganzi couldn't touch him when the first big battle happened.

20:34 GMT (+00:00): MKP 3 – 1 Heart on Shakuras non-cross. Heart opened with a banshee and killed a few marines while MKP tried to break his front, but when MKP dropped hellions he clumped up all his workers on accident and lost 20 of them to a single volley. Heart tried a last ditch attack but wasn't able to clean up and MKP took the series.

20:24 GMT (+00:00): MKP 2 – 1 Heart on Cloud Kingdom. This time MKP proxied a factory and starport and dropped hellions into Heart's main, not doing much damage but forcing the SCVs to run. MKP followed it up with a cloaked banshee and tanks and assaulted the front and back at the same time, to kill Heart.

20:13 GMT (+00:00): MKP 1 – 1 Heart on Antiga. Heart proxied a factory and attacked with 2 tanks with siege early, MKP nearly held but miscontrolled his first banshee and lost it to marines.

20:02 GMT (+00:00): MKP 1 – 0 Heart on Entombed cross. Heart opened with 1 rax expand while MKP went for some pressure with his first 2 marines, hellions, and a banshee, netting around 10 SCVs total while he took his own natural. MKP got another handful of marines and overpowered Heart as he started to recover.

19:55 GMT (+00:00): MKP vs Heart starting on Entombed Valley.

19:28 GMT (+00:00): Live interview with MKP, he picks Heart as his opponent. Matchups will be MKP vs Heart and Ganzi vs DRG.

19:28 GMT (+00:00): DRG 3 – 1 MC on Daybreak. MC made a void ray after expanding again, but DRG killed a lot with a backstab. MC's attempts at being aggressive through the midgame weren't able to do enough damage, and DRG made it to broodlords with a strong lead and MC couldn't deal with it.

19:25 GMT (+00:00): Heart 3 - 1 viOLet. Antiga - After fending off Heart's hellion-banshee open, viOLet decided to go for a massive muta-line-bane bust off of three bases. However, with some good kiting and evasion, Heart was able to stop the attack without much trouble and emerge with a big lead. Heart only had to pick up the pieces after that, clinching the series.

19:07 GMT (+00:00): Heart 2 - 1 viOLet. Tal'Darim Altar - Heart went for a marine heavy build on TDA, using his cheaper fighters to constantly pressure viOLet. While viOLet had lings and banes, he went without lair tech for too long, and was picked apart by Heart's constant aggression and harassment.

18:52 GMT (+00:00): DRG 2 – 0 MC on Antiga. DRG got double roach warren for quick upgrades while MC went for DT immediately after fast expanding and took a really early third. DRG took down the third with roaches easily and stopped the DTs, then burrowed through forcefields to win.

18:51 GMT (+00:00): Heart1 - 1 viOLet. Entombed Valley - Heart channeled the spirit of the dead BitByBit and went for a 4-rax, marine-SCV all-in off one base. However, viOLet sniffed the attack out and stopped it with queens and drones. However, viOLet was overconfident after stopping the attack, and did not prepare sufficiently for a second, even deadlier marine - SCV all-in.

18:42 GMT (+00:00): viOLet 1 - 0 Heart. Metropolis - In one of the most interesting base trades ever seen, viOLet came back from what looked like a sure loss to take a one game lead on Heart. During the phase of the game where the two players were still playing standard, viOLet opted to use his roaches to base trade with Heart instead of challenging his mech army head on. Heart ran for the isles, while viOLet sneakily took new bases on the opposite corner of the map. viOLet's burrow roaches and good creep spread made Heart too afraid unsiege and move his army, So he opted to use his island income to go for cloaked banshees to take out viOLet's new bases instead. While the banshees did work wonders, Heart was not prepared for viOLet's ace card in drop/speed upgrades for his overlords. viOLet loaded up his dozens of roaches into his overlords, and dropped them straight on top of Heart's army to seal the game.

18:41 GMT (+00:00): DRG 1 – 0 MC on Metropolis cross. MC opened with a 3 void ray build and put on heavy pressure on 2 bases, but wasn't able to kill DRG's main and it went to a long midgame. DRG got to brood lords and MC wasn't ahead enough to deal with them.

18:20 GMT (+00:00): Games going! Hooray!

18:11 GMT (+00:00): Stream is up, doing some interviews. Waiting on matches, DRG vs MC and Heart vs viOLet to start.

Round of Six

(Z)viOLet vs (T)Heart

  • Game One: Metropolis - In one of the most interesting base trades ever seen, viOLet came back from what looked like a sure loss to take a one game lead on Heart. During the phase of the game where the two players were still playing standard, viOLet opted to use his roaches to base trade with Heart instead of challenging his mech army head on. PartinG ran for the isles, while viOLet sneakily took new bases on the opposite corner of the map. viOLet's burrow roaches and good creep spread made Heart too afraid unsiege and move his army, So he opted to use his island income to go for cloaked banshees to take out viOLet's new bases instead. While the banshees did work wonders, Heart was not prepared for viOLet's ace card in drop/speed upgrades for his overlords. viOLet loaded up his dozens of roaches into his overlords, and dropped them straight on top of Heart's army to seal the game.

  • Game Two: Entombed Valley - Heart channeled the spirit of the dead BitByBit and went for a 4-rax, marine-SCV all-in off one base. However, viOLet sniffed the attack out and stopped it with queens and drones. However, viOLet was overconfident after stopping the attack, and did not prepare sufficiently for a second, even deadlier marine - SCV all-in.

  • Game Three: Tal'Darim Altar - Heart went for a marine heavy build on TDA, using his cheaper fighters to constantly pressure viOLet. While viOLet had lings and banes, he went without lair tech for too long, and was picked apart by Heart's constant aggression and harassment.

  • Game Four: Antiga - After fending off Heart's hellion-banshee open, viOLet decided to go for a massive muta-line-bane bust off of three bases. However, with some good kiting and evasion, Heart was able to stop the attack without much trouble and emerge with a big lead. Heart only had to pick up the pieces after that, clinching the series.

  • viOLet 1 - 3 Heart

(P)MC vs (Z)DongRaeGu

  • Game One: Metropolis cross. MC opened with a 3 void ray build and put on heavy pressure on 2 bases, but wasn't able to kill DRG's main and it went to a long midgame. DRG got to brood lords and MC wasn't ahead enough to deal with them.

  • Game Two: Antiga. DRG got double roach warren for quick upgrades while MC went for DT immediately after fast expanding and took a really early third. DRG took down the third with roaches easily and stopped the DTs, then burrowed through forcefields to win.

  • Game Three: Cloud Kingdom. MC began by cannoning DRG's third and then went for an attack with a void ray, phoenixes, and zealots. He then went to chargelot-archon before taking a third, and combined with the phoenixes shut down DRG's attempts to take his expansion. DRG tapped out when MC went on the offensive with storm.

  • Game Four: Daybreak. MC made a void ray after expanding again, but DRG killed a lot with a backstab. MC's attempts at being aggressive through the midgame weren't able to do enough damage, and DRG made it to broodlords with a strong lead and MC couldn't deal with it.

  • DRG 3 - 1 MC

In the recap of game 1 Heart vs Violet, you accidentally say PartinG instead of violet in the 3rd sentence

viOLet vs. Heart Game 1, I think you said PartinG instead of Heart?

edit: lol people said this already oops.

Honestly if the finals is DRG MKP again and DRG wins that would just be so awesome. Fighting!!

Also really sad how Heart lost in g4 vs. MKP... =(

Judging by the current rate of increase of MKP's scores in MLG finals vs DongRaeGu, I predict MarineKing will win this 6-2.

And how MKP looks practically untouchable in TvP and TvZ i would say MKP as well

Lol, wait is it actually possible for MarineKing to win 6-2? I was just joking, sayin that cuz he won the first 4-2, then the next 5-2.

I'm actually hoping DongRaeGu will win though, but I think MarineKing will T_T

Wasn't able to watch it but I was rooting for MKP all the way.

In a way though I'm kinda glad DRG won... this is the 3rd MLG final in a row they've met, and DRG taking this one makes for a better rivalry.

Dude, It's not artosis fault. Every Caster I've seen commentate an MKP game has that happen to them. MKP just takes on fights he shouldn't win and forces his way through with micro. It messes up predictions of engagements.

Artosis is a bad caster wait are you high? It's one mistake and because of MKP's insane micro it's hard to predict battles he shouldn't win but he wins them anyway.

Anyway congrats DRG you deserve it zerg brother :D

Or maybe, he knows that MKP's bio builds are inherently greedy and susceptible to early aggression because he postpones tank tech for so long. Add to that the fact that the last game was close spawns on talderim, and MKP should have EXPECTED aggression. Why should DRG wait until MKP's bio has 10 medivacs overhead making them insanely cost efficient, when the build is weak against early attacks? Note that DRG transitioned more than once...you could almost call some of those attacks roach bane pressure, analogous to 1-1-1 pressure in TvT, where he sacrificed economy and bet on doing damage.

DRG also showed that he had figured out MKP's mech build by using sick roach macro play. That wasn't an all-in at all.

Seriously why is that a problem? The fact that the games are not predictable by high level analyzers like that means that they should be entertaining and the player who did end up winning must have played well or the other must have made some sort of mistake.

I'd rather the casters be wrong on counts like this, if everything is predictable I find it boring.

When a commentator makes a mistake, and in Artosis' case it's not really every day, you should maybe just sit back for a few second and balance your criticism.
In fact when I listen to Artosis builds explanation that's always quite astounding, and I can say that there are maybe only 2 other casters that can be so good in analysis and small details explanation nowadays.

If you hate casting so much you might as well use "mute" button. A lot of what they say is sort of not retarded, so I'm fine with that.

Two things.

Firstly, learn to fucking type. You have a keyboard where presumably every key works, and you're not on a phone. If you want to be taken seriously you should be able to speak with some measure of not-fucking-text-speak.

Secondly, there is no sport on earth where stuff like that doesn't happen. One of the most famous footballing commentator moments is "There's some people on the pitch! They think its all over! It is now!"

That moment is legendary and iconic. Its also an example of the same kind of thing you're talking about.

Unexpected shit happens in every sport, and commentators get caught out because of it. If it didn't, and they didn't, then every game would be predictable boring shit and commentating wouldn't be necessary because nobody would fucking watch the games. The only time you'll see perfect commentating like you describe, is when the game is so easy that people can play it perfectly and play it the same every time.
In retrospect, I don't know how you can play StarCraft without swearing. - Eifer

Grats DRG!
You deserve this, the best Zerg.
Wish MKP can learn something from MVP and MMA, then he will become another Flash, perhaps even stronger

And, Come on Huk! You will be back!
I'll not cry anymore

If you don't know what you're talking about don't speak. That was not a bad fight for Zerg, he mis-micro'd and MKP micro'd well which led to MKP winning. Artosis can't predict when a player will mess up in the future or when he'll play well.

Does anyone know why DRG got in when Parting and DRG had the exact same score and individual map score, and Parting beat DRG in pool play. Tournament would've turned out a lot different if DRG hadn't been seeded into brakets.
