If you're a TL veteran, you've surely noticed that the number of "Active" and "Logged in" have been growing steadily. Just a few days ago, we peaked at over 8,000 active users. For all you new users, it's not always been like this. Once, not many months ago, it was a rarity to see more than 1,000 users active on our forums. We've come a long way. In May, TeamLiquid will hit 1,000,000 unique visitors in one month for the first time in our history.
You're a part of the largest (and in our opinion the greatest) StarCraft community in the world. We've always felt that our greatest assets are our users and reputation. That's why we've never had huge, intrusive ads and why we have no donation button (though many people have tried, we've almost always refused donations).
SC2 will be released in just over two months. Many of you will be buying it. If you haven't already ordered the game, please do so through our affiliate link with Amazon. It's the same price, so it won't cost you a thing.* This way, a few of your dollars will go back into the community. It won't be a lot of money, but fortunately we're very good at making small dollars go a long way. Every little bit counts, and we'll use your contribution to improve our servers, content, tournaments, and other community-oriented activities.

We don't expect you to go back and cancel and re-order through us or something. Its just a dollar or two back to TL per order, and it's not like TL is going to crash if you don't go through some annoying cancel-reorder procedure.
Of course, we appreciate anyone that does, but please don't feel like there's some obligation or pressure, that's not our intent at all. We just figured, if you're going to buy the game anyway, it really doesn't negatively impact you and it can marginally help us and the community.

Amazon isn't actually selling the collectors edition (yet), the 299.99 is from some fishy sounding companies that sell stuff through Amazon.com

Wow this is great. I would definately donate money right into your pockets if I could, but this feels more genuine. Unfortunately I live in Sweden and prefer to play on EU-servers due to the latency difference between our two continents, is this deal only available in North America or can I contribute from over here?

In theory, instead of the 3% or whatever amazon gives TL, buying it wherever it is cheapest and then directly donating the money saved to TL would benefit everyone more. e.g. I got the CE for $76. I could donate $24 to TL and I'd be out the same amount as if I just ordered off Amazon (once they fix their price), but TL would be getting at least 5 times as much money. This would of course require TL to set up a donation system.
I'm certainly not discouraging anyone from using the Amazon referral, as it's far better than just ordering it without TL getting anything. I'm just saying with a bit more effort by the purchaser they could support TL even more!

I actually have had a Collector's Edition pre-ordered from Amazon since mid april...so it seems like Amazon might have already sold out (pre-ordered out?) their initial estimates of how many Collector's Editions they'll get or something similar?

Made an account at TL (after lurking for god knows how long) just to say thanks for reminding me to actually buy the game! After so long with the beta I can't believe I forgot until now. Glad to support TL a bit like this though. Try to use the few dollars you get from me for sinister purposes if possible.

I already pre-ordered the collectors edition from EB, however if you can get yours up on amazon i will order it from there, as EB has a tendancy to screw up.
Also, may I suggest if you are looking for donations to improve the community, Im sure there are others like me who have some spare cash and would be willing to donate small amounts to help. Is there anything like this right now? If not maybe one could start. I know I love watching streams and tournies, I would happily pay 20-50$ to help fund more tournaments and such.
Or if it went to HuK's internet bill that would be ok too =P <3

I ordered from Amazon.ca a few weeks ago and they told me they wouldn't ship it on day of release (July 27), and that they would only start shipping on July 30, which makes the predicted day of arrival sometime around Aug 4-5. I realize it's just a week, but I really want SC2 as close to day of release as soon as possible.
Has anyone who has ordered specifically from Amazon.ca from the above link been able to get confirmation that their order will ship on the 27th and not on the 30th?

At this point, I don't think anyone worth being a TL member would express distaste if you guys just had the OPTION of donating money. I figure put it below the Liquidpoker link in the lower right. The average TL user may not ever even notice to be honest, but it would give people who WANT to contribute something a way to do so.
I for one would be happy to chip in 5 or 10 dollars to TL. It'd be a small price to pay for the hundreds of hours I've spent watching your streams and vods.

There's a liquid poker link? Just goes to show you that if you put a small link, the people looking for it, will find it, those who are not, won't notice it at all. I think it's a fine idea. Personally, I feel even a small paypal donate button below where the IRC information is on the home-page wouldn't be obtrusive either, but a hyperlink at the bottom is fine.
Also, no love for colelctor's edition? I haven't pre-ordered yet, I do want the collector's edition, so if you guys are able to promote it (possible link for CAN below), I would definitely be willing to do order with it.

Canceling your pre-order to get a different pre-order for the exact same price seems like such an awful thing to do. If you want to give TL.net money you can probably just donate some money to them, not treat a store as expedient.

Maybe it's worth noting that a few weeks ago I was on amazon and the Collector's addition was offered for the normal $100, but now it reads $299.99.
I have no idea what would have caused this change.

funny how amzon.de likes to scam everybody charging them extra money if youre stupid enough to order from them...around 10% cheaper in france and even more so if you order from the uk (55€ vs. 45€ incl. the extra shipping costs).
considering you will probably have to deal with the german version the first time until you can download the english one from battle.net not a tough choice to make.

They definitely ship games to germany. I got all my PC and PS3 games from amazon.co.uk.
However recently they seem to have stopped shipping games that are indexed or banned in germany. (without any legal obligation to do so, btw.)
I tried that with left 4 dead 2 and wolfenstein and in both cases i got "... cannot be shipped to the selected address." when placing the order.
That didn't happen when I ordered SC2 so I'm pretty sure it'll work.

if amazon wouldnt have worst delivery rates and time dates.. i can order from game.co.uk.. and get shiped across europe usually in 4 days , 3-5 days period.. for 3 quids.. from amazon it cost 8, and 8-11 days delivery... seriously? it might have cheaper price for such games diablo 3 or wow cataclysm.. while same for sc2 , ( game had cheaper sc2 couple weeks ago ) , with game i atleast know i will get game on release day, or day after.. not this 2 weeks after crap.. ( both of them ships from uk too.. go figure )

As far as I know, it has to be the link. We actually get referral dollars for any product you purchase through that link even if it's not SC2. We're obviously not going to ask our users to make all their Amazon purchases through us, but we're not going to stop you if you choose to do that
Additionally, for all those people wondering, if you already ordered, it's fine. We don't expect you to go back and cancel and re-order through us or something. Its just a dollar or two back to TL per order, and it's not like TL is going to crash if you don't go through some annoying cancel-reorder procedure.
Basically, don't feel bad if you didn't order through us. Of course, we appreciate anyone that does, but don't feel like there's some obligation or pressure, that's not our intent at all. We just figured, if you're going to buy the game anyway, it really doesn't negatively impact you and can marginally help us.

My only issue with preordering from TL.net's Amazon referral is the time taken for Amazon.co.uk to actually ship the copies; every time I've ordered a game from Amazon has taken > 1 week after release to be shipped, whereas when I order from game.co.uk, I normally get it the day before release.

They definitely ship to Germany, I use to order all my games from the UK since it's cheaper most of the time. Even with the shipping.
The downside to is that it could take one or two days longer to arrive and you may not have it on release. :E

I think you should really put the point across that you DO NOT get a key with this, it will stop a lot of people from thinking they will get a key and getting screwed and thinking it's your fault.

Ermm... how come there are £10 off the UK version? It's for £35 pounds, with free shipping to the UK. I might actually buy that one and pay for shipping (still probably less than the 50euro total) so I can get the game cheaper AND get the box in English as an added bonus.
I'll definitely be buying from these links though.

I believe its 4%, with a slowly rising % if a ton of people buy it through our link. I'd guess TL makes ~$2-3 off each purchase.

hmm when i wanted to check out amazon said it will cost me 49 pounds, minus 15 if i use their crappy card which i need to order separately, and i bet there is a ton of strings attached to it. I checked few other sites and the price there is 36 pounds so... yea.

They ship books, they don't ship electronic products according to some misguided policy, Gamestop does however. and you don't need torrent, you can probably register in the Battle.net site to download the client directly from them. I'm intending on doing so as well, it's pretty screwed up as it is right now. Gamestop didn't deliver the game in a different address from the credit card owner though -_-'

You'll have to register the game on battle.net either way and they have a downloader for every other game they have on there, so I suppose yes either way they said they'll made it available by digital download on battle.net blizzstore, so you'll be able to it MIGHT take a little while though, not 100% certain if it'll be available from the get-go but I'm sure you'll be able to do that.

I just wanted to add a small suggestion, could you add to the thread an amazon search box with the TL affiliate id?
I'm saying that cause some people would like to get BW, or other SC related merchandise not necessarily SC2. It'll be nice to be able to search for an item, buy it and help TL in the process.
it is thanks to TL that I learned to really appreciate this game so if I buy anything, especially SC related, I'd like TL to earn a little from it.
