Because of the wording DP used in his claim is from the OP i could tell he copied it from the thread, not from his role PM. If he would have done so he would have said:
"I am Monet (Alignment Cop)" instead the whole phrase (and the first name of the character which role PM's did not include).

Now imo hosts should never phrase the role PM's they send out in any other way than how they are phrased in OP.

Posting a false role PM phrased as if you received it from the host. You can still fake roleclaim, but you cannot make it look like you are posting a PM you received from the host.

I don't like copying and pasting the various flavors. It's too time consuming for me. I'd rather just leave something in the scum qt that says "pm me about fakeclaims", if even that. I seriously didn't expect anything about the setup's transparency to become problematic.

Tbh I personally doubt I ever would have thought of that as a player. I'd claim from soap or summarize (I'm cop). Even if you think it's bad, it was the nail in the coffin. There were far more reasons to lynch DP than just the role claim thing.

Overall I 100% agree that role pms should almost always be directly from the OP. I made a few exceptions in my game because but other than the scum roles (which were like 4) there were only 2 roles which weren't essentially quoted from OP (universal backup got told they "read to cop as whatever the alignment of the role they choose is" and role cop which always reads as town; granted assassin was also miller so...).

Not that I ever have...i dont think...but if i was to fakeclaim as scum i'd make sure I HAD a fake claim beforehand.

But...DP had no reason to think that he didn't have a fakeclaim. It's one thing if it's a closed setup, but with (supposedly) all the role PMs in the OP, why would you need to ask for one? They're listed right there.

So yea, in the future, hosts really need to send the same role PMs that they put in the OP if they're going to put stuff in the OP.
