Vodka
Vodka + any Juice (orange and cranberry being the two leading favs)
Vodka + Redbull (east coast specialty)
Vodka + Sprite/Mellow Yellow
Vodka + Fruit Punch (hi-c is probably the best)
Vodka + Gatorade (or powerade if you must)
Vodka + Wine

Vodka is a great mixer that goes well with pretty much any fruity tasting beverage. You can drink it straight in a pinch and its very cheap! Probably my #1 favorite drink.

Recommended Brands
Anything under 13$ a half-gallon (you are probably going to be mixing it anyway)

Rum
Rum + any Dark Soda
Rum + Nothing

My #2 preferred drink of choice, Rum is great because it mixes the best with ever-present Coke/Pepsi. You can comfortably drink it straight as well. It's only a couple more dollars in the store than vodka. The spiced variety is especially delicious straight (hello, Sailor Jerry) and usually has a higher alcohol percent. Drink on a dock, a boat, or a beach and feel like a pirate!

Recommended Brands
Sailor Jerry
Anything under 15$ a half-gallon

Gin
Gin + any Juice
Gin + Lemonade
Gin + Ramen Noodle Broth

Gin is fucking gross. It is barely tolerable mixed with the above mentioned items. If you drink it straight, it tastes like you've just licked the bottom of some dude's boot that has been hiking in the woods for a week. Stay away from this beverage.

Recommended Brands
Bombay Sapphire, if you must

Whiskey
Whiskey + Nothing

Whiskey river, ease my mind. If you ever mix straight whiskey with anything, you deserved to be punched in the throat you pansy. My #3 favorite alcohol because I just love the burning sensation this charcoal-flavored drink gives as it wriggles down my throat.

Recommended Brands
Jack Daniels
Jim Beam

Tequila
Tequila + Lemonade

Tequila sucks. I don't see what people like about it. The only possible way I can drink this without immediately gagging is in a 40-60 mix with lemonade, then its very delicious. It's rumored that tequila makes articles of clothing fall off your body, but that's never happened to me.

Recommended Brands
I don't know. I stay away from Tequila.

Brandy
Hahaha, yeah right. Who drinks Brandy?

So there ya have it folks.

Whiskey is my go to. I'm not the kind of guy that only drinks to get drunk. I feel I'm old enough to appreciate the taste of good liquor.

Lemon Drop: 1 vodka:1 lemon juice and a dash of powdered sugar. Shaken in 1 or 2 ice cubes

Tequila sunrise: Grenadine, tequila, orange juice. Personally, I like as little grenadine as possible and a fair amount of tequila (like 1 tequila: 2 oj)

Limeade is a good mixer with any basic strong alcohol (vodka/gin/rum)

Long Island is a good option too. There are too many variants, so you're probably best off looking it up and seeing which one you like.

For a really good winter drink, heat up some apple juice and cider (or cider powder if you want it stronger), toss in a couple cinammon sticks and/or ground cinnamon, wait for it to simmer. Then add everclear. It's important to add everclear at the end because otherwise it'll evaporate. Also, if you use cinammon sticks and you want the best effect, you'll have to let it simmer for a while. Ground cinnamon is the quick and easy but it changes the texture.

Personally I like the Alfonso special (martini with 1/4th cointreau and a dash of bitters) or a good single malt scotch.

Hey that's all neat and all but if you read op im asking for basic mixes that you can make on the go anywhere. Or do you carry around a bar in your trunk?

Everclear + Sprite + Cranapple juice. I don't know what it's called, but it tastes pretty good. It'll fuck you up really fast though. You could probably substitute vodka.

Other wise, any flavored Bacardi + Sprite. It tastes like a Jolly Rancher of that flavor. Like Bacardi Apple + Sprite tastes like a sour apple jolly rancher.

Fuck that Red Bull crap.

Absolutely. It tastes like fucking cherry Children's Nyquil when you mix with Red Bull.

For root beer: Hard Root Beer: 12 oz Root Beer, 2 oz Captain Morgan.

And here's a ton more that I haven't looked at or tried: http://www.drinknation.com/barbook/ingredients/root-beer.php

I'm never gonna know you now \ But I'm gonna love you anyhow.

I dont know... just try it. It's actually not that bad. The ramen noodle juice completely covers up the alcohol and you can go like 40/60 noodle/gin and still not even remotely taste it.

I've shared one of my most prized drinking secrets already, time for #2. This drink is sure to please the girlies, it looks kind of cool, and it's fairly easy to make. It's name? Blood of the Innocent.

Ingredients
Empty bottle with a top (a gatorade or powerade bottle works the best. Cost: $0)
One packet of Black Cherry Kool-aid powder (Cost: 0$ just steal them from grocery store)
Cherry 7-up (can be replaced with Mountain Dew Code Red. Cost: $.89 for 2 liter?)
Cheap Vodka (Cost: $10 for half gallon, $3.50 for a fifth)

Total Cost: About $1.20 per drink. (I've had people offer me 5-10$ for one premade, ca-ching!)

Instructions
Put about 7-8 shots into Gatorade bottle, more if you want a stronger drink, but no fewer than this number.

Fill bottle 90% of way with Soda.

Pour in entire packet of Kool-Aid Powder. The powder reacts with the soda and fizzes up like a volcano. (makes for a neat party trick like you are in science lab impress girls with knowledge) This is the tricky part because Kool-Aid Powder stains! It will stain your hands and your clothes so be careful. If you get it on your hands, wash it out asap so you don't have to walk around for the next three days with red hands. I suggest capping it immediately after pouring in the powder.

Shake until the powder is no longer visible on the bottom of the bottle.

Best served cold.

The order of how you do this is important because of how everything mixes together. Remember, it goes vodka -> soda -> powder. If you do it differently, it causes a different taste.

It should turn a blood red color. While insanely delicious, the liquid, because of the powder, will still stain you, so be careful of kool-aid mustachios. Also, be sure to shake it up occasionally while you are drinking to keep everything even.

You can switch flavor of kool-aid powder and soda, just make sure they match. Like... if you want an orange variety, buy orange soda and orange kool-aid.

I've made this drink for many people and never have had it turned down, not even from those with zero alcohol tolerance. This is because you can't taste the alcohol! Great for first time drinkers or those who just want something that gets the job done and goes down easy for a change.

I see some people are recommending cheap booze. It's okay for mixing, but if you're going to be taking shots throw 5$ extra after a semi-decent brand: cheap booze is near undrinkable if not mixed.

I mostly just drink bear, perhaps with an occasional shot. Drinks are tedious to make once you get just a little boozy - beer is always available and ALWAYS tasty. Heineken and Budějovický Budvar preferrably.

EDIT: Ouch 25-day bumb, so very sorry. Opera seems to be saving your last visited page when restarting instead of refreshing it, hence I got an old TL frontpage. Apologies again.

haha no offense intended but why the hell would anyone mix malibu? if you're looking for an overpriced but tasty drink just drink malibu straight. the taste is good compared to most mixed drinks and is amazing for the alcoholic content unless you drink really sugary ones like disaronno amaretto (mightve changed its name to disaronno originale now, but im not sure)

BTW. tropicana juices. not the orange juice, but the combination of multiple ones (orange peach mango, orange strawberry banana, some white grape one worked well too, etc) will cover the taste of vodka better than anything else (and i've tried most mixable things). If you really want to drop more money, you could probably get a decent flavored vodka (raspberry, citrus, other things that would match well), but I'd settle for 2 handles of popov instead.

cool name, but I was working out the math
7-8 shots, shot = 1.5 ounces, so you got 10.5-12 ounces of vodka.
Gatorade bottle = 20 ounces. you fill it up to 90% so whole volume = 18 ounces.
The pre-kool aids solution is 52.5% to 66.67% vodka, and the rest is soda.
Anyone who has ever mixed an amount of soda (any kind) with more vodka (especially cheap vodka) knows it tastes like SHIT. It's pretty terrible for most people even if it was 2:1, and people (particularly these 'newcomers' ) who don't drink a lot would probably barely start enjoying (the taste of) 3:1.

i guess this leads to my question. I thought you were being reasonable with Kool-Aid... what size do you use? the one for the 2quarts?

Tequila Buzz
- 40ml of tequila
- 40ml of Bols Blue - Curacao
- 200ml of Sprite or tonic (depends if you like it tasting sweet or a bit bitter better)
- a bit of orange juice
- a slice of lemon
- ice

Good for girls and for you if you really need something refreshing that contains alcohol (like in a middle of a heavy drinking night when you need to pause for a moment to catch your breath).

Rum Bum
- 40ml of rum
- 40ml of Bols Red - Whatever-it's-Called
- 200ml of tonic
- some apple juice
- ice

More manly variant of the one mentioned above.

Mad Dog
- 40ml of vodka
- ~10ml of strawberry syrup (it has to be thick, like this stuff you mix with water to get regular juice or whatever)
- 7+ drops of Tabasco

Syrup -> vodka -> wait till it settles -> tabasco -> wait -> drink in one go (no other option permitted)

Very simple, very kickass drink for real men.

Charlotte
- 50ml of Zubrowka (if you can get it by some miracle
+ Show Spoiler +

- apple juice up to personal preference

Have fun ^_^
