Although this thread does not function under the same strict guidelines as the USPMT, it is still a general practice on TL to provide a source with an explanation on why it is relevant and what purpose it adds to the discussion. Failure to do so will result in a mod action.

The real question is why aren't you sad when those attacks happen in non Western countries? They happen more often and are more violent yet no one bats an eye.

Yes I think it's sad but because one of those event just happened, it does not make it more sad. I already know it's a sad fact that some people are desperate and manipulated. Are you sad inbetween terror attacks?

Yes we are hypocritical. I'm a contrarian that's for sure. I also think our Western society is the pinacle of tolerance in history and that we should stop being so harsh on ourselves and others, I truely think we're a few inches away from something even greater and it would only require to give up on a bit of material wealth and slightly twist our view on what a succesful life is.

Hah. Right. Spain fucked up plenty of its own in the Maghreb. No need to apologise.

That said, this guy apparently entered the country in the last few days. Has nothing to do with failed integration.

You don't need to take the blame all on yourself (if any). It has been denounced plenty of times during that even tho the integration from the muslim community was pretty good in our country, the targeting of muslims for minor offenses has been fueling radicalization in the last years (mostly from morocco).

I don't know if it is due to good work by our intelligence agencies or some other reasons that terrorist now often run people over as a method. Idk about others but personally I am not terrorised by that at all. Getting blown up by an explosion, that's something that very rarely happens and instantly makes me think of terrorism. Getting run over though? Gotta be more scared of that on my way home on a Sunday morning due to drunk drivers.

I think it's quite terrifying. Guns and bombs are hard to get, and I reckon the controls we have in place are quite good at registering any suspicious activity in that regard. They also take planning and at least a minimum of "expertise" to create mayhem with them.

A car? You can literally just pick rush hour and drive into the pedestrian area of any major city to create massive damage. As all the car attacks this year have shown. It takes minimal planning, no coordination and the only knowledge required is how to drive a car, which I'd say about 90% of the population over 18 knows how to do. And to top it all off, the driver can survive and run around shooting people after his rampage has ended if he does own a gun.

It seemed rather odd that they immediately found a passport in the van.

o_O

That's not the way human nature is, in one post you affect apathy but in another you display burning emotion that clearly shows you are not apathetic at all.

I think you haven't learned yet that humans and our human world are nowhere near simple.

Guns are not hard to get in Europe and the materials to make bombs are not hard to acquire either. Learning how to make bombs with some skill is harder but if people want something or want to do something badly enough, not all of them will succeed but a very fair proportion will.

Human ingenuity to obtain supply to meet a demand > human ingenuity to make obtaining that supply impossible. That's one of the truest truisms of human history.

What about this other horrible, unrelated thing? Were you sad then?

The real question is why aren't you sad when those attacks happen in non Western countries? They happen more often and are more violent yet no one bats an eye.

Yes I think it's sad but because one of those event just happened, it does not make it more sad. I already know it's a sad fact that some people are desperate and manipulated. Are you sad inbetween terror attacks?

Show some respect to the victims and their families instead of being a dickhead, would suit you. I won't even bother responding to that moronic dribble, since there's nothing right with that statement whatsoever. Literally nothing.

Go enjoy your slaves.

Sidenote: i made it very much clear that i'm not scared, in fact (very likely) contrary to you i picked up a rifle and went to fight this shit, so get off your high horse, keyboard general.

If you can't even aknowledge that our society is spoiling the earth and entire countries for itself, nothing can be done.

I despise the army btw, necessary evil and short term solution.

This is some strong whataboutism here:

This is horrible.

You act like some truth teller, seeking to enlighten us on hypocritical we all are. But you are just a pompous contrarian with a cynical view of humanity.

Yes we are hypocritical. I'm a contrarian that's for sure. I also think our Western society is the pinacle of tolerance in history and that we should stop being so harsh on ourselves and others, I truely think we're a few inches away from something even greater and it would only require to give up on a bit of material wealth and slightly twist our view on what a succesful life is.

o_O

That's not the way human nature is, in one post you affect apathy but in another you display burning emotion that clearly shows you are not apathetic at all.

I think you haven't learned yet that humans and our human world are nowhere near simple.

Guns are a lot harder to get than a car, though. If i wanted to get a gun, i wouldn't even know where to start. Legally, i could join a shooting club, do loads of shooting training, and eventually get my license. Illegally, there are probably people i could get one from, but i have no idea where to find them.

Meanwhile, if i want to get a car, i can have one in 30 minutes by just renting it for 100€ or so. Or ask my dad. Or hijack a taxi cab. Or whatever. Cars are everywhere and incredibly easy to get. And apparently at some point during the last year, someone figured out that it is pretty easy to kill people using a car, so now that is the SOP of terrorists.

I was just in Barcelona 2 weeks ago. Feels a bit strange seeing La Rambla again on the media in a different light. My sympathies to the victims.

In the end though, feeling emotions of horror and hatred, and the reaction to demand the government to implement repressive poilicies, to change our principles are exactly what the terrorists aim to achieve. So be stronger than that.

That's horrible
Worst thing is that it was done obiously by brainwashed people, using old as fuck "religion enlightment" technique.
We all need to get rid of all religions at this point, that's an outdated crap for peasants just like racism, sexism and others.

Yeah getting rid of Judaism, Christiany, Hinduism and Buddhism will surely help.
