"Plexa" won the donation war for WW:HD filename! TL's new donation incentive is "R1CH" for Magus's name in Chrono Trigger.

Aren't KH runs like 4-5h long? I can see why they would be much more strict on that kind of run. I don't think there's even a FF run this AGDQ.

FWIW, Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep is being run in April as part of the Crystals for Life RPG Marathon (last year it was just FFs, this year it's all RPGs).

If you like RPGs, particularly JRPGs, that marathon may be more your thing since they've been reduced quite a bit in the GDQs due to time constraints.

KH 1.5 Final Mix isn't even that long. The Beginner mode WR is a hair under 3 and Proud which isn't even deathless yet is around 3:45. KH2 is like 4.5 hours, but still thats not even a good enough reason when the marathon is closing with WWHD and Crono Trigger. Its that they arent seen as "popular" games even though I think theres way more interest in them than they are given credit for. Just because they don't have sheer numbers of runners like Mario/Sonic/Megaman/Zelda games because of the different style of play doesn't mean that people dont want to watch the games

You honestly can't compare KH to Cosmo playing WWHD. And I think at least one classic RPG is good for the marathon, I'm glad it's not another FF this time tbh. KH cannot compete with Zelda's or Mario's, it's just not a particularly popular or flashy game. Sure, some people would like to see them, a lot more people would like to see Zfg vs Moltov.

Every time people bring up how they want to see a certain game(that's long) and compare it to Cosmo running TWW, I always just shake my head... Cosmo's a bit of an outlier, that guy's like... the #1 speedrun streamer pretty much, and brings in a buttload of viewers/donations/etc

and Cosmo runs a game, that has not be run at a GDQ...

It was said pretty clearly, that longer runs of the same games will be avoided, that's also one of the reasons siglemic didn not show up.

The only runs over 3h long this AGDQ that are not extremelly popular series/runners are CT, the obligatory RPG run, and Borderlands 2, which is just slightly over 3h, Broman is fairly popular and it's a coop run, which is a nice change and a fairly unique characteristic.

The least popular long run is probally SC2, but it also has stronger reasons to be in the schedule than KH has.

When people use Cosmo as a reason for why another game shouldn't be run it shows me they have NO IDEA what either A) the other games run is like, B) very little idea on the runners popularity or C) the sheer fact that people will watch anything especially games they like or are extremely popular games in their own right. Also giving examples on why in your opinion, because thats what you think it is that other games are more important doesnt mean thats fact. Kingdom Hearts games especially 1.5 and 2 have been getting a ton of viewers lately and itd be even more so during a marathon. Fun fact the bid war between KH 1 and 2 a couple years ago accounted for something like 72% of that GDQ if i remember what spikevegeta said properly.

Well the Wings of Liberty run last year made about 25K in 3 hours in a time slot which isn't a huge money maker (early afternoon), so it was pretty guaranteed HOTS would make it in.

Regarding Kingdom Hearts - it has a few strikes against it from an AGDQ standpoint:
1. It did poorly in an early marathon, which Uyama tends to remember strongly (it also almost kept Halo out this year)
2. It's decently long without many donation incentives - compare pre-voice acting FF games - where you have basically 10+ things to donate for between names and challenges, making them worthwhile. You can see that with Chrono Trigger this year.
3. The series isn't quite as nostalgic or popular as PS1 or earlier Square games.

The first point wouldn't prevent a KH game from getting into SGDQ, which is now run by Romscout. But the others make it difficult for a long JRPG to get in. It's why there isn't a second big JRPG this year, whereas last year had 11 hours of FF9 and the previous year had the same of FF7. Zeldas, for better or worse, have taken their place, and the biggest casualty has been the less popular less marathon-beneficial JRPGs.

There's probably a decent chance of a KH game getting into SGDQ, assuming it's offered. With so many games being offered for marathons these days there's always going to be something missing.

I certainly don't envy those that have to make the game list.

Is there a list anywhere of how much games made last year in donations? Like each individual game?

I'd prefer Siglemic over any other SM64 speedrunner Last year was epic.

Yes. The AGDQ Stats spreadsheet is in this link: https://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/post/agdq_2013_stats.html and other such posts are in that forum if you search for it.

BTW this isn't true at all and Sig is there. If Sig wanted SM64, it'd be in, just like Cosmo Wind Waker. But he didn't offer it.

Oh wow I just realised that I am the TL donation drive. That's a real honor after last years efforts to name Steiner Violet. Even if we end up losing, this is really touching <3
