I so hope they manage to make it as atmospheric as Diablo1. The great music, sound effects and dialogs, the dark levels, the exciting quests. I think I still know the poem about the Halls of the Blind by heart. Bosses like King Leoric, Archbishop Lazarus and the Butcher are so memorable. Who doesn't remember the Butcher's bloodlusty "Aaaah, fresh meat!" when you enter his slaughterhouse full of dead bodies? The feeling of getting closer and closer to the very netherworld as you venture deeper into the labyrinth. Pure satanic ambience. I was actually afraid when I played through Diablo1 for the first time. Please Blizzard, capture the dark atmosphere of the first Diablo game. Diablo2 was great fun too, but it left a lot to desire in this regard.

When it comes to character classes I can only say that Diablo 2 failed overall. Barbarian was ok. Necromancer well... imo out of place... not again please. Amazon meh, the Rogue was much better, she had a lot more flair. Assassin WTF not copied at all ehh?! Druid LOL, write hundred times "I shall not take funny pills before designing characters". The Paladin was the only choice of all that I really, really liked, probably because he's so similar to the old Warrior.

And finally... the Sorceress... huge fail!!
I don't want that character to be female again, sorry! (Yes, that actually matters in an adventure/RPG game!) Ever since I played the original Diablo game it never felt right to play a Sorceress. The Mage with his magic robe is much more original and I also want him to be black simply because he was black in the first place. But this time please give him a black speaker! It was so obvious that a white guy spoke as the black Mage in Diablo, well at least to me. Imo the only reason they've decided to have a Sorceress in Diablo 2 was that they were pretty uncreative. They thought it would be more exciting to get Superwoman into the game and call her Sorceress. They were right... but Superwoman is always exciting, that got nothing to do with the game. Huge fail. She doesn't belong to the Diablo series.
Also don't ****ing give the Mage an orb and a shield, those orbs are SOOOOO out of place and SOOOOOOO not original it hurts my eyes when I see that! Can't you just modify staves so that they are equally useful??? Really, that can't be so hard, just use your brains!!

Blizzard should take a deep, a really deep look at the Diablo game. All three main characters gave the impression of being really tough fighters. Guys who earned their bread with their guild and maybe saved a kingdom once. Would you expect that from... a Necromancer? A Druid? An Assassin? Hell, no...

Flair is all in RPG-like games. Don't forget where the characters come from that you choose, Blizzard. Be careful and don't follow into the footsteps of modern everything-in-one RPG's that are so overloaded and so not original because you just don't have an idea what exactly is the theme. WoW for example. What the hell, half of the game is taken from other games, slightly modified and sold as new stuff. Don't fool the community! You can't!

I agree with Scorch, the atmoshpere and storyline was much better in the first game.

Haha, i never realized there was a storyline, how long was it, like 5 lines max?

Atmosphere was definitely better but the caves felt much more linear to me.

I have to agree completly here. What made diablo 1 the game it was was its atmosphere. I loved both diablo 1 and 2. But when playing diablo2 I always longed back to that feeling that I never got back to in d2.

I hope they keep 1-2 classes from the old game at most. There were no characters carried on from diablo 1 to diablo 2 and I see no reason why they should do it now. I do hope they still have a character that plays somewhat like a paladin (which is my favorite class in d2) but he doesn't have to look like or be called a paladin. 3-4 new completely new characters other than the two we have already seen would be great. If I wanted all the characters from d2 then I would play d2. Actualy I am playing d2 atm but thats just to celebrate the d3 announcement xO

Act 3 really isn't as long as it looks. Taking the correct route through the swamp part (you can skip an entire area there) can be done relatively quickly, just do one side of the river, and kurast wasn't really that boring for me...

I don't think they are very flexible with the character classes. Apart from the barbarian and witch doctor, I'm quite sure the game needs
- a pure spellcaster like the sorceror/sorceress
- a ranged fighter: rogue, amazon, hunter, ranger
- a light melee/caster hybrid like the paladin or monk
I find it quite cheap that they only want to include five classes. It's really really obvious that they are saving up ideas for the addon. They should include at least seven classes like in LoD instead of reducing the number of playable builds.

I agree with Scorch, the atmoshpere and storyline was much better in the first game.


Lol I completely disagree. I though Diablo just went completely onwards and upwards. The incredibly epic storyline was so much more epic, and big and just, intense. The dark traveller taking the narrator of the tale to all of these exotic and strange places, the horrors that he has to endure...then you have to go to those very same locations; with an eclectic range of atmospheres and locales. Diablo 1 had variety, but the sheer fact that you were just descending levels felt so claustrophobic and annoying to me; when I replayed it after having done Diablo 2. I'll admit that the butcher and king leoric etc were awesome...but so were andariel and mephisto.

Diablo one was good...it inspired me to walk diagonally and win the 100 metres at the olympics...but I do have to say comon, Diablo 2 had JUST as good music, JUST as much atmosphere, but just more adventure and variety.

Also, I think Diablo 2 was just as dark as 1. A lot of gore and spooky shit. The countess's waiting rooms with the big chalice of blood and stuff.

Going back to Tristram was fucking epic! Comon!!! It was so fuckin' epic! Especially if you did it the first time, you weren't ready. After fighting rakanishu, with like half health at level 5....you're like fuck fuck fuck gota get to cain OH FUCK IT'S GRISWOLD maybe he found out that I stole that rusty shortsword in diablo 1 fuck gota run fuck! Oh wait...he's quite slow...actually he's very slow. Ha, fucking slowpoke. Here grissy grissy grissy!!! *griswold hits* NO!!!!!! FUCK!!!!! Almost dead! Fuck run!!! Find cain and get the shit out of there fuck!!!!

Ps i disagree with that person who said the thing about the characters tbh. In fact I completely disagree, because the concept of a black paladin makes zero sense to me...so lol I don't even like what he likes about diablo 2 characters. I thought the sorceress owned. I thought the NECROMANCER was fucking amazing! :D. My favourite character by far. He was so cool. Totally changed the dynamic of play. I much preferred the skill tree as well. The books in diablo 1 were fuckin' gay. Made everything feel so cheap. Like that mechanic in FFVIII for spells. Anyway that's my two cents for the day.

Diablo 1 had a better ambience imo. And no spawning monsters for free Xp.
I hope that Blizzard will change the rush system
I cant understand where is the fun... And it ruins the bosses imo. I have no more respect for Andy because i killed her like 30 time with my char...
