Let them buy back, just flag the character that they did, that way you can separate people who actually are doing hardcore, and people who are just doing hardcore because uhh they want to be known for doing hardcore... but aren't really hardcore because they aren't doing hardcore... aka stupid rich kids.
Isn't it ironic and selfish to say that God made man in his image, when God was made in man's image?

I don't know who "the people" is, but this most likely bullshit. To quote Bashiok:
Paying to bring back a fallen hardcore character was something I read someone here post once, and I simply repeated it to say I thought it was an interesting idea. I’m not a designer. Things I find interesting doesn’t mean they’re being implemented. I have though heard Jay (who is lead designer) say that paying to bring back hardcore is pretty much a horrible idea.

thanks for dropping knowledge. I was never that big into hardcore before but I really want to try it for d3.

Hardcore is the best thing ever, Try it once and you never go back. Having your heart almost pounding out of your chest for fear of losing your character while doing bosses on hell difficulty with random lag spikes was the most insane adrenaline pump ever.

Buying back is garbage. Glad their lead designer thinks so too.

Their lead stockholders might decide otherwise, we'll see! Pretty excited about seeing what they unveil at Blizzcon, not attending or paying for it, but will get my hands on all the infos released by the fanatics ^^

I have to agree at 100% with that.
Hardcore is THE shit. try it once, you'll never look back.
The massive adrenaline pump during dangerous situations. In hardcore, there is no place for mistakes. This is way more challenging and rewarding. Playing hardcore makes you feel alive.

NYTimes article on Diablo 3

"It appears distinctly possible that Diablo could be the first Blizzard franchise to make the leap from PCs to consoles like the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but Blizzard isn’t talking about that."

I really like the article, but this part jsut isnt accurate.
Did anyone else play Starcraft on Nintendo64? That was my first time playing SC and i loved it, but i couldnt go back after playing the PC version.

Second that.

Hardcore adrenaline rush is the best Diablo 2 can offer especially in fast-paced Hell where half a second decision can kill you.

What is the fun of pumping 500 points in one/two stats (str or dex) and running around fighting monsters head on with -50 resists while having pizza on one hand?
The character planning for longevity and retreating from battle, cautiousness of using defensive map features, checking corners and boss stats before engaging, etc are all Gold!! It is a completely different gaming experience!

Try it!! Given that you have a good heart that can take the loss of lvl 80+ chars and/or weeks of work in a black-cloak.
(Especially in 1.13 they already removed two deadly 1-hit feature: Fire Enchant and Iron Maiden. But Willowisp and Stygian Doll are still deadly though.)

I looked at his 3 year old post and thought "didn't they add Demon Hunter to the character classes...". We have ourselves a wizard.

Probably going to go Demon Hunter -> Barbarian -> Wizard -> then the rest. The fast paced style of the demon hunter from the gameplay video looks too much fun to pass up imo.
