Seeing as how we have a good handful of people that seem to play DotA regularly, i think most would agree that having this thread would be helpful. If TL.netters would wanna get a game going together, this would be the place to let them know.
Playing on Battle.net wouldn't be an option due to the crazy pings some people may have, so these three options are recommended and should be familiar to most:
1.) Hamachi Download
2.) GG Client Download
3.) List Checker
This one is a little bit more complicated. Using List Checker will allow you to host games on LAN and have the games show up on battle.net, thus allowing almost "delay-less" play on battle.net. Instructions on how to set up and use can be found Here
Now, having a list of DotA players on TL.net would come pretty handy IMO so let me know if you want to be added to the list, and also include the time (in TL.net time - US Pacific) that you're usually available. So I guess I'll start with myself. (TL.net ID please, not your bnet aka)

So to start off, I think we only need one channel for now, we'll make more as we see needed

Rules: If you are in the hamachi channel, you are THERE and not afk, ready to game. If you afk there, no more than a few minutes, check back for more players. When you quit hamachi, leave the channel please so other people can fill your place. For your id, please use your teamliquid ID so others will know who you are. For your friends who aren't TL.netters, they can use whatever they want as long as they don't change it to avoid any confusion

I'm not sure how many people are on at a given time, but it seems this would probably be the most convenient way to meet up. And thus, using listchecker is the easiest way to set up a nice lag-less game. If anyone has any problems using listchecker or simply can't figure out how to start using it, let me know i'll make a quick guide; the one given up there doesn't cover all the configurations you need to make. It only takes a few minutes and you won't have lag to blame for any longer ;]

yeah i agree, hamachi would probably be the most convenient. we could set up a few hamachi channels for dota play, with some rules as well. if you're not playing you have to leave the channel, you can't afk there. That way, anyone that's on that channel will be ready to play games and we won't have to waste time figuring if they're there to game or even there at all

hrm well i've never used any of those programs, so what will be the most commonly used? i play on uswest id StarlitSky/GameOverMicro(i switch between the two). I am on/off most of the day when i'm home, but im generally on from 5pm till 2-3am pacific time. also, i have a rather unstable connection(wireless) so i randomly disconnect sometimes, depending how my net is being...somedays i dont, sometimes i do. so if that is a problem ill just stick to bnet.

For those of you in the San Diego area. There is an internet cafe called SD201 PC on convoy street in claremont. Its always full of people playing dota via lan, no less than 8 at a time and sometimes its packed with dota players.

There seems to be a split between west and east. It would be so much easier to get a full inhouse going if we stuck to one -_-
I guess the best way to do so is for westies to add easties to friend list and vice versa to check if anyone gets online. I'm not even sure if that works since I never tried it. I mean, it's possible to check if someone's on lordaeron from BW uswest but I'm not sure if you can cross check between realms.

Clan JLIG will usually have players starting from 5 in afternoon. I am usually on their vent, but not playing till later around 8 or 9 EST.
I ll try to chill in the channel earlier, but I am still not playing till 8 or 9 :D

Out of 7 people that have dropped by from TLnet you were probably 4th.
For the east/west issue I can schedule 5 for a friendly scrim here through TLnet. I think the contact through bnet method would work but would take way too much hassle. Just post here if you can get 5 people who want to play together.
Of course if you guys use a teamspeak or vent I could stop by whenever I had 5 and see if we can get an inhouse together. I think that's the easiest method. I'd let people come into my vent but as I said in the other thread some ill-mannered faggots came in and I had to ban them all.

damn, im feeling so pumped up after my last game where i came in first place with lycan. I had say, battle fury, 2 bashers and 2 other okay items. did 250+ damage + llycans super attack speed and movement speed. That thing runs faster then 500 ms in wolf form XD

I'm DonMidas on USWest. Myself and a friend play 3-4 dota pubs a day which I host using ListChecker. We usually play between 12:00 and 19:00 TL-Net time. I'm centrally located in Illinois where most people(well, Americans) ping 20-50ms on LAN and I'll gladly host private games whenever I'm available.

Every listchecker game I've played and those who have played on mine say that the delay is really good but there are continual mini-spikes throughout the game.
Hamachi is still king for me.

Usually Raist is host (with listchecker <3) since he's westcoast. Geographically, west is further than east for euro guys so I'm not sure how the delay will be.
On a related note, a while ago when I went on europe to inhouse with brain and his friends, the delay was worse than most US games so from Asia's perspective
USWest > USEast > Euro host
For Euro:
USEast > USWest > Asia host
Does this sound right?
PS: I'm trying to host with listchecker and have had successful games but I'm getting complaints that the game keeps disappearing from the list, so after the 1st and 2nd players join, nobody joins after that, for a long time at least.
Help would be appreciated.

Eh...darnit. I seem to have a problem, past 2 days I was playing DotA I was getting 4-5 sec long lagspikes all the time, and it made every game unplayable for me...any1 knows what it could be? I had no delay (I usually don't have at all), and I changed nothing on my comp...before that's fixed, I won't try playing with you cause that would ruin your game (I might try saturday tho, timezone difference won't be that much of a problem then I spose)

No it's definitely a move-up because I asked an HTGN admin why my team was in pro-division to begin with, back when we signed up. He said that we were placed in the lower conference of the pro division [ aka delta ] and that we shouldn't face teams that were too hard.
Now we are in Alpha.... the conference with the hardest teams in both preseason and regular season.
I really think it was just a numbers issue though. They had to count out teams that were inactive or didn't play games. For example we went 1-1 in preseason and the team that beat us [ Bus ] are not in alpha because they didn't play their other match. So technically we were ranked higher. Also I think they had to have a certain number for each conference.
And btw I asked last night if that was Heen from Kor and somebody said no so I figured it wasn't him..

btw, to ppl who were complaining about imba teams. It may very well be the lineup, not the players, that's causing one-sided games. I'm certain shitty picks in -rd play a much bigger role than 2 players being on the wrong team. (ie. everyone wants to be carry)

My trial period of 2 weeks recently expired on DotA league , so I could start playing games there. It's tons of fun, so if you're around sometime, and are registered here, we could play together (I never had luck finding any1 on TLwest or Hamachi, darn timezone difference).

Basically between 8 hours from now and 15 hours from now.
The time we get on each day is different but we usually stop playing around the same time, 4-5 pm korean time so that's 15 hours from now.
EDIT: I just realized TL now uses korean time. So it's basically 8am-4pm.

Gay. I'm short on hosts these days. Need someone who lives in US West to host with LC for it to be playable.
It used to be:
raist > color > evade > shinbi > cats, hostwise.
Now it's only playable with color or maybe evade. I used to have a higher tolerance when we first started playing but back then everyone was in their learning stages so delay wasnt a big issue hehe. Now I miss kills and get deaths due to delay. Fucking school must be hacking our internets or something.
Hamachi doesn't work (school router? I'm not sure) which is very t.t I can connect to a network, see ppl's names and they can see mine but when I go to LAN, there's nothing there.
Does this mean GGC most likely won't work either?

turn off your windows firewall when you get on hamachi, someone on our team had the same issue.

hmm they are better than TDA, but not much. When you become VIP you can sign up for VIp games which require players to be at least decent and occasionally there are very skilled people among them.

there's barely any leavers, and sometimes you get games with some of the best dota players around
especially if it's a captain game and you get in, the level of gameplay is extremely at the top of the game

i think dota league also has some pretty good players but it seems like some of them arent when you get down in the first half of the game the people are good enough to make you whole team seem like complete noobs and when the game in under an hour if they want to.

Hey guys, I have a couple of issues with Listchecker. Hopefully I can find help here.
When I host a public game with LC (/hostbnetpublic) it seems that the only people that join are friends and others who knew the game name. It is as if the game fails to show up on the game lists of much of the public dota players. Sometimes I'm able to gather up a full house after many refreshes and remakes, but such occasions are rare especially at night, which is when I do most of my dotaing with friends. I'm not sure if LC is working as intended, denying access to those who create the Battle.net delay or if I'm doing something wrong. In any case, is there any way I should reset up my LC or WC3 configurations to solve this problem?
My second question is: ever since I began using LC to host games, I've lost the ability to host games normally on Battle.net. When I try to make a game without using LC, people would get latency issues and nobody would join the game. However, when I turn on LC and host with it, people would be able to get in without any problems (except the one I stated above). I tried switching my WC3 port back to 6112, since LC switched it to 6113, but it was to no avail. Currently I'm stuck in a state where I can only create games with LC, and whenever I do, it takes forever to get a game going.
Anyways I'm sorta new to DotA, but am on a lot and have LC/Hamachi. If you're ever looking for a game feel free to send a tell to FioraLongears (Lordaeron).

what i do when i host public games on lc is have "/refreshbnet" copied to my clipboard, i paste it and click enter really fast like 10 times (like spamming it) and people usually come in if i refresh fast. but if you do it too fast for too long, you'll get ip banned from that realm so control yourself zz
not sure about your hosting/router problem, someone else could give you more advice on that

Shackle if you have a router you have to remember to open the port there too.
Make sure LC and wc3 have their separate ports. My LC is 6112 and my bnet is 6113. I am able to host both ways.
I'm not really sure about your problem with getting your game up publicly on bnet but I'm sure it has to do with your port issues. Remember to allow it through windows and through any firewall you may have. It's alright to turn off the windows firewall, it really doesn't do anything a firewall should anyway. [ XP that is ]

Actually I don't use a router when I'm hosting because I have a dynamic IP, I just connect my computer straight to my DSL so port forwarding should never be a problem. Is it possible to host on a router with a dynamic IP address? My ISP overcharges for static IPs.
My hosting port for LC used to be 6113, 6112 for BNet, and just now have changed LC to 6112 and BNet to 6113. Hopefully this will resolve the issue.
The only firewall I use is windows firewall and it's on at all times. I've allowed both WC3 and LC access through it. I'll try turning it off.

if you have a icon on east you can get in other wise you have to do something like 100 posts and a safelist game in the dota forums or something like that. dxd you just join on west but im not sure about joining games that system confuses me.

You can host with a dynamic ip. Just make sure the ports [ 6112/6113 ] are assigned to your ip.
If you don't know how to check your ip
Start-->Run-->Cmd-->ipconfig /all
Maybe the reason you lost ability to host regularly is because when you allowed LC to be port forwarded you ip was changed therefore your 6112 and 6113's were probably open but your regular wc3 port was probably not forwarded to the right ip.
Edit: It was fun playing with you again Strafe. Maybe we can get a full game in next time.

Ack, that night I hosted my DSL connection divebombed just as I started to host. When your friends said they got considerable delay joining, I was very confused and decided someone else should host. Just as the other game started, I looked at my modem, and the light that monitors the signal strength looked like the 4th of July it was blinking so fast, which is a pretty big problem. Normally it blinks once per second, and that's when I've got a strong connection.
I know 6112-6119 are forwarded on my router, and I followed the tutorial for LC I found that said to change my WC3 port to 6113.
Maybe you've got a better idea of how it should be set up? I'm a newbie to the...internet connection stuff.

Puck != Pugna
Puck has phase shift, which I'm pretty sure is better on manual cast.
Anyway I've tried Puck a few games and he's fun. He has low hp but that's pretty much his only weakness.
I go pretty much same build on him as I do for QoP.
