Rules were made to be broken.
That's why my friend's in jail right now.

I have never been into fighting games, but since I love 1v1 games, and sc2 ain't on my agenda now, I gave it another shot.
With my old hori stick, I went into the game that appealed to me the most, MKX (was on sale as well). The idea is to just get good at a character, so that I am equiped to jump into whatever new fighthing game that is comming up with more ease. Unfortunately, I can't stand SF4/5 graphics, it just do not appeal to me at all, even though I played SF1/2 before a lot (casually with friends, no internet).
Should I quit? I mean, is SFV and GG rxd where fighthing games will be like? Tekken I could handle graphic wise, but it was slow paced last time I played it. Mortal Kombat is really nice, but it seems nobody is playing it (my assumption).
|
What do you mean by "Is SFV and Xrd what fighting games will be like?" exactly?
TBH I think I speak for most when I say that MKX is probably the worst fighting game on the market right now. Maybe you should look up Killer Instinct? It's coming to PC this year if you don't have an Xbox. Otherwise SF and GG are the most popular ones right now (and rightfully so imo).
|
If he doesn't like sfv's graphics idk how he will like killer instinct. You should quit if you don't find the gameplay compelling enough to continue. There is a new kof that is coming out (looks terrible gfx wise imo). I am sure that the people who made MKX will release another title similar to it soon enough.

Can't get into fighters because of the graphics....? I mean, maybe look into Tekken 7 eventually but other than that I don't think that mindset will lead you to much enjoyment with fighters.
|
if you dont like the sf / gg graphics, don't worry. King of Fighters 14 will be right up your alley
MKX is still big though and NRS seems to want to continue supporting it, not sure why youd stop? It's just not big with the same set of players, but NRS just announced another like 100k in pot bonuses or something right? No clue what the EU scenes are like for NRS games though, that could be a different experience entirely.

Wow, thanks! The games Killer Insticnt and KOF14 looks cool, and nothing like SFV. There is something in SFV that just screams no within me.

Yes yes and yes. It have to be visually stimulating to hit someone. When I do a combo it needs to satisfy something in me. Sure, later on the mechanics will be more important, and I will realize MKX is awful or not. Now MKX it is the only thing drawing me in, as its just so fun getting those combos rolling, and it's visually appealing. But yes, maybe I have the wrong mindset, or maybe the mindset will grow as I get the mechanics down on my Hori stick, making it easier to transfer that to new games. I just dont see me playing SFV, but who knows. The game seems stuck in 99

If that's what you want, just play someone like Sin or Sol in Xrd. They're meaty as fuck.
I have a similar problem in SF4 where most characters just feel like they're barely hitting the other fighter. Makoto was my solution to that.

When i bought SF4 and played it, the biggest drawback to me was the SCORE inbetween rounds, they took so got damn long that it just made the game way less appealing.
Downtime=SUCK!

Anyone here still play Skullgirls on Steam? Been learning it recently; having a lot of fun with it, and with Winter Brawl allowing free entry for Skullgirls, I'll probably practice a bit.
|
Sung, I actually bought it a few months back during a sale and have been dying to learn how to play it. We should get down sometime and you can teach me a thing or two?
My Steam handle is KingKosi
|
Added you, and more like can you teach me lol. I'm so bad at this game, but it's hella fun.
|
oh boy that game is different than I remember it. Still fun, some of the new chars seem real hard to zone against tho D: how similar is robo fortune to mvc2 cyke?
|
I think I can play a bit of Skullgirls during the weekend (but I'm from SEA, so expect around 200 ping or so). If that's fine I can give you my handle (have not really played in a while though so I might have forgotten a lot of what little I did know)
|
You can probably zone decently with R.Fortune, but her rushdown seems crazy. So many crossups/overheads with helicopter/pizza slicer lol.
Peacock does look hard to zone properly with.
