Leta officially B-teamed

What is CJ Entus?

CJ Entus is a Kespa team that you will have the pleasure of watching in the upcoming Proleague season! Though they’ve historically been one of the stronger teams and have a very deep roster, they’ve had some difficulty winning the Proleague. But that’s all in the past! We won the Hybrid Proleague last season and we’re not stopping now! CJ’s strong roster will continue to prove their abilities, both in the Proleague and in individual environments.

The Players

Leta
[image loading]

Brood War: Leta came to CJ through their merger with Hite Sparkyz and was, along with fellow Sparkler (yes) Horang2, responsible for CJ’s transition from -_- to ^_^. He was a very strong Terran player who was sometimes considered a gateway to the S Class (unrelated to GSL’s “Code S”). This meant that if one could pretty consistently beat Leta, they were probably one of the very greatest. He’s never had much success in individual leagues, with a top 8 in an MSL and an OSL being his best results, but consistently tears up Proleague. Leta’s signature opening is Two Starport Wraith

Wings of Liberty: For Sc2, Leta has changed races to Protoss. He participated in the Kespa exhibition matches during the MLG but was bumped out in the first round to Jaedong. He hasn’t managed to qualify for the Sc2 OSL or the GSL and has only played two games in last season’s hybrid Proleague so we have no idea where his skill is at right now. But if the past is any indication, we can’t write off Leta because of his individual league results, and we’ll have to wait and see how he fairs in Proleague!

EffOrt
[image loading]

Brood War: Effort has been one of Brood War’s top zergs since his breakout in 2008. He’s been a huge force in Proleague and served as CJ’s ace player. Unlike Leta, his Proleague prowess has been matched with individual league success, winning an OSL over Flash in the finals. Shortly following this 2010 victory, Effort retired from Brood War. About a year later, he came back and instantly was a top player once again. Effort is very fond of zerglings.

Wings of Liberty: Effort was one of the Kespa players to find early success. His first televised Sc2 game was a win against Flash and would end up with a record of 10-8 in Proleague. He also found success against ESF players in WCS Korea, with a 2-1 win over Dongraegu and a 2-0 over Gumiho. He’s been seeded into the GSL Code A but fell the first round to Maru, 1-2. Though he hasn’t had enormous success in Sc2 just yet, he’s certainly proven that he’s capable of rising to the top.

Bbyong
[image loading]

Brood War: Bbyong was never a very prolific Brood War player. He’s been a part of CJ since 2008 but saw his first Proleague appearance in early 2010. In professional BW’s waning days, he was becoming an increasingly common face in CJ’s Proleague lineup with decent results, going 5-3 in the last season.

Wings of Liberty: The Hybrid Proleague didn’t seem much brighter for Bbyong, only going 2-4 in Sc2. But since then he’s upped his game and has become the first Kespa player to make it to Code S of the GSL without the aid of seeds. He qualified for Code A and beat First, Genius, and Heart to get to Code S, but then lost in the group stage to Mvp and Creator. He’s back in Code A and still swinging, definitely someone to watch!

herO[jOin]

Brood War: Of the now-relevant players, then-zerg player herO was probably the worst in Brood War. His lifetime record is 11-25. In the Hybrid season, he played 6 games because you had to alternate games. He lost all of them. I don’t want to talk about this anymore …

Wings of Liberty: Let’s talk about this instead! Now playing Protoss, Hero has been one of the best Kespa players at Sc2 and stood side by side with SKT’s Rain as representatives for Kespa when most people were still sceptical about their skills. It seems he’s fallen out of favour as a Kespa golden-boy but the fact remains he led CJ to a championship in the Hybrid Proleague, serving as their ace player. I have my doubts that he’ll stand as CJ’s ace, but no doubts that he’ll still be a very powerful force.

sKyHigh
[image loading]

Brood War: Skyhigh is a terran player famous for two things: A reverse all kill over Hwaseung Oz and his excellent TvT. Once upon a time, Jaedong beat three CJ players to put Oz at match point. Figuring his team could clean up the relatively no-name Skyhigh even if he lost, Jaedong unsuccessfully 4-pooled. Jaedong was wrong, and one of the funniest matches of Proleague was born. Skyhigh would also go on to become a TvT sniper with mediocre results in his other matchups. Still, what a TvT sniper he was! During Flash’s period(s) of super dominance, Skyhigh was one of the only players with a very real chance of beating him.

Wings of Liberty: We haven’t seen much of Skyhigh in Sc2, his only games coming from the Hybrid Proleague. He proved decent there, going 4-4 with three of those wins being the last three he played. Hopefully we’ll have a nice shiny Skyhigh ready to smack people, at least in TvT!

Hydra
[image loading]

Brood War: CJ has this weird thing where they have exactly one good sick zerg at a time. When Lord Voldemort was fizzling out, Effort showed up. And when Effort was retired for a year, it was Hydra’s turn. He went from benchwarmer to CJ’s ace seemingly overnight and rode to a MSL championship on the back of his excellent ZvZ and ZvP. Then Effort returned and suddenly Hydra fell off the map again. Weird!

Wings of Liberty: Again, we don’t know much of Hydra in Sc2. He’s only played 3 games, all in the Hybrid Proleague. He went 1-2 with his only saving grace being that his losses came from Sang and Trap, both going to prove themselves as Kespa powerhouses. I became a big CJ fan during Hydra’s time at the top so I have a soft spot for him. Can he break the curse and become a second good zerg on CJ at the same time?! We’ll see!

Snow
[image loading]

Brood War: Playing Protoss, Snow was a strong PvT sniper. People really started taking notice of him when he hit a 9 game PvT win streak with very strong opponents, most notably Fantasy, now-teammate Leta, and the seemingly invincible Flash. While his other matchups remained average, Snow rocked a 65% winrate in PvT and was a staple in CJ’s lineup.

Wings of Liberty: Like so many of his peers, Snow has changed races for Sc2 and now plays Terran. He was first noticed in the WCS Korea preliminaries. Though he didn’t manage to make it through, a 2-0 win over fan-favourite Nestea assured people saw him. He played 6 games in the Hybrid Proleague and went 0-6, showing he’s got some ground to make up.

The Rest
There are a few more players on the roster but they aren’t particularly notable (yet!). We have (Z)SonGDuri, (Z)rare, and (P)Bong[S.G]. Rare has played in GSL Code A, but lost in the first round to Hack.

Hi, I'm entirely incapable of doing anything within the realm of graphics. If there's any CJ fan that's more talented than myself and wants to build some proper headers, go ahead and PM me!

On an unrelated note, a couple of the player pictures aren't too great. If anyone knows of a picture of Snow or Hydra specifically that I have permission to use, please let me know.

Cheers!

eff0rt!! Thanks for linking my fan club for him. I don't know what it is, but eff0rt is having so much trouble with ZvP. He won like 65% in BW, and he just can't adjust to SC2's ZvP still :/

OP updated with news.

- Recap of match against Woongjin

+ Show Spoiler +
Season opener against Woongjin is done, and we totally won! Here were the matches:

(Wiki)CJ ENTUS vs (Wiki)Woongjin Stars
Set 1: (P)herO[jOin] < Caldeum > (Z)fOKINS
Set 2: (Z)Hydra < Cloud Kingdom > (P)Flying
Set 3: (T)Bbyong < Antiga Shipyard > (Z)Neo.G_Soulkey
Set 4: (Z)EffOrt < Ohana > (P)sHy
Set 5: (T)sKyHigh < Bifrost > (Z)ZerO
Set 6: (Z)SonGDuri < Arkanoid > (T)hOn_sin
Ace Match < Planet S >

Hero played a wee bit funky but nothing too crazy, he ultimately killed the seemingly inferior fOKINS with a 3 base pre-Hive push, featuring a whole bunch of hallucinated Colossus. In the next set we watched the mental breakdown of Flying as he rushed for Mothership on two base, got most of the tech, then expanded. The game was maybe a bit closer than it should have been but Hydra eventually came out with the win. In our marquee match of Bbyong vs Soulkey, we saw Bbyong rather handily hold off an early ling/roach/bane bust and go into the macro game with a bit of an advantage. Keeping Soulkey to three base while taking a fourth himself and harassing heavily with dropships, Bbyong prevailed with the win after a nice long game. CJ's only loss of the night came from Effort at the hands of sOs. Effort seemed to hold off the DT rush pretty well, but then got caught off guard by a funky blink stalker/archon timing and wasn't able to live through it. Finally we had Skyhigh proving himself to be a beastly terran and upcoming ruiner of FPL anti teams as he showed one of the most flawlessly executed mech TvZs I've seen to date.

- CJ's next match will be December 16th against EG-TL.

- In other news, tonight (December 9th) we see Bbyong play against Nestea in the second round of Code A.

It doesn't look pretty for him--here are week 2 lineups

CJ has more confidence in Songduri and Bong than Leta or Snow T_T
Hopefully these guys aren't bad!
