Startale is a top Korean Starcraft 2 team with a strong Code S and A presence as well as an intimidating team league record. With highly talented players and coaching staff, StarTale is a force in the Korean Starcraft 2 scene. However, StarTale has additional appeal in that they are a very entertaining team. With players like AcE and Bomber well known for their flashy ceremonies and in-game taunts, StarTale puts on a show like no other team can.

The Startale Terrans
Bomber
Bomber is the star Terran of StarTale. His dominating Code A win in May lead many to declare him part of the next generation of dominant Terrans. However, Bomber fell short of expectations for a long period of time, choking in key games against Byun. Since then, Bomber has remained rather inconsistent. His dominating win at MLG Raleigh last year indicated a strong performance that regrettably could not be repeated. Bomber is a bit of a conundrum in that at his best, he is Code S champion material, and at his lows, he drops out. If Bomber's consistency levels out, he will without a doubt be a top player and someone to be feared.
Hack is a newer member of StarTale, originally on the team ZeNEX. Hack hasn't had a true breakthrough in Korea yet, making several close calls in the Code A qualifiers until finally qualifying in GSL 2012 Season 2. His notable accomplishments include many deep runs in the TeamLiquid opens and an all-kill against FXO in the GSTL, as well as a second place finish in the ESV Korean Weekly.
Formerly of team WeRRa, Sound exploded with a sonic boom early this year, coming out of nowhere to take first place in the very tough Homestory Cup qualifier and second place at the heavily stacked HomeStory Cup 4 against SK_MC. With results like that, Sound is a player to be feared in the future.
TeamLiquid's fionn and Waxangel put it best when they said in the IPL4 Power Rank, "To Curious, he could be playing Starcraft 2 on the moon in a ten billion dollar tournament against aliens, and I think he would still play the same way he always does, with the same, statuesque, emotionless look that he always has when playing." Curious is a stoic player, playing a solid Zerg style with finesse and dominating performances. Curious won the last Code A tournament that had a first place in October of last year, without dropping a single game. Since then he's been a consistent Code S presence, a Zerg player to be reckoned with. In the international scene, Curious made pool play in likely the most stacked tournament in SC2 history, no small feat.
AcE sprung into prominence with his 2011 first place at the IEM World championship. Since then AcE has been a GSL Code A mainstay and an important character in team leagues. His team league appearances have not always been in the both, but on the stage, performing elaborate and entertaining ceremonies that won him the Best Ceremony of 2011 at the Blizzard Cup.
StarTale has two excellent coaches, Won Jong Wook and Kim Kwang Bok. Won Joong Wook was a former coach of Brood War team WeMadeFox. The European manager is James Banks, who handles team affairs in the international scene. You can follow all three on twitter.
Startale had the worst luck during the GSTL finals. My hear goes out to the Startale team. Hopefully a Startale team member will move on to win the IPL4 tournament tomorrow.
Demoralized after their loss esp. since it seems they all tilted so much after Parting's loss and esp. after Bomber's. After Bomber went out I left to get dinner, and apparently I looked like my cat had just died or something, 'cause a cop walked up to me and asked me twice if I was okay.
I hope Squirtle and Bomber win tomorrow, but I fear they will be on tilt from today.
Terrible luck for them. I hold that the decision not only lost them a single match - the decision drastically demoralized the team and fucked up their mentality for the rest of the match. They were clearly playing frustrated and my heart goes out to all of them.
Added everyone who asked or said something nice in general. Tomorrow Bomber and Squirtle are playing so good luck to them! I'm sad that Curious didn't make it. I love him. But oh well, hopefully we see them tearing it up.
@ampson He's still listed as active. Haven't seen him at all though. It's a little weird.

that being said i'm a fan of startale, best of luck to them in the next GSTL.

I'd like to agree with this. There are a lot of really talented players on Prime and while I certainly think StarTale would have been favored had the re-game not occured, there is no guarantee.
As a general rule, please refrain from disrespecting anyone involved in that in this thread. That means Blizzard, MKP, Prime, GOMTV, or anyone. Keep it outside. This is a place to support StarTale, not tear down others. I'm not saying that anyone did that, but I just don't want it happening.

Prime would have had Creator and Byun left, while Startale had Squirtle (PvP sniper for Creator), Bomber, Curious, and Parting left. Startale would have been at a huge advantage, though I agree that it wasn't 100% guaranteed, for sure.
Ugh, poor StarTale.. Rough night for them.. They would've had a really good shot at winning if Parting had gotten the MKP game. Hopefully Bomber can clinch IPL 4 to make up for it. Fave team, sign me up~
I feel startale has a much higher "per-player" skill level, even if some of the other teams have a few players better (carries). Seriously, between bomber, july, squirtle, parting, and curious, they have such a sick, stacked lineup that the other teams just don't have.
Please sign me up. im such a fan of everyone on startale. it hurt me so so much having to see them lose tonight i hope they come out strong in their individual play tomorrow! Please startale, don't give up hope!
I hope Bomber or Squirtle (preferably Squirtle) can take the IPL tomorrow. MarineKing had such an infinitesimal chance of winning, and I couldn't watch after that, although I heard he all-ined Bomber and Squirtle. If he had not been given the regame, the only threat to Startale was Creator. They were the winners, no doubt about it. Startale fighting!

It's certainly not impossible for either of them, although if both win their first round they then face each other so someone would end up fighting through the losers bracket from early on.
As a whole Startale did pretty damn good at ipl 4, even players who died in open or in groups showed impressive games to get to where they eventually fell.
* BTW wth happened to Parting in groups I had him pegged to make it out for sure but wasn't able to catch the games so I have no idea how he ended up down 0-3
still my favourite team even with my favourite player going to the army soon T.T, sign me up. Shame about Partings game, but he showed in game 1 he is capable of taking down MKP so I'm sure in future we'll see him stomp him.

He didn't all in Squirtle, Squirtle tried to all in him. He also had incredible decision making against Bomber which helped him make the come back.
Anyway, I love StarTale considering two of my favourite players are onthe team(Bomber, July) so sign me up please.
Startale fighting! I'm so glad someone finally made this. It is time to show our support, especially at a moment like this, when they are probably feeling very down. Let's cheer for a Squirtle or Bomber win tomorrow at IPL4!

No, it doesn't matter who wins. They have to be in the finals. Both of them.
Mad props to the team for staying calm after the incident in the GSTL yesterday. You are an awesome team with great talent and will win the GSTL in the near future, I'm sure!

I have her in the misc section, as she hasn't posted major results. I just did it by the LP classifications.
Do you guys think I should add a quantic section? Probably wouldn't be as detailed but the partnership is pretty important and the quantic guys are pretty awesome too. Read Nani/SaSe/PartinG's tweets back and forth, they're hilarious.
Anyone have that picture of the Startale team with Bomber sitting in the center looking like a boss? Not sure if people know what I'm talking about, but I can remember it clearly.. just forgot where it was.

Okay doing a massive update to the "team pictures" section. It's only half done but there's cool pictures of just about everyone so check that out.
In game-related news, ST trucked EVERYONE in RB Battlegrounds, on the whole. Half of the podium was ST and everyone made it out of the group. Awesome job.

Alright I added everyone I was sure transferred from ZeNex to ST. There's some ambiguity with a couple because different sources are telling me different things, so I'm waiting on real confirmation from ST management.
Merger is the wrong word, I think it's being overused here. Startale basically acquired ZeNEX, which is good for both teams. I guess I'll have to sign up nao ^^

Really hoping that Startale can win this one. They deserve to win this match
is first winner of Liquid/MVP, then SlayerS and lastly IM
And in TSL 4, if I'm allowed to use StarTaleQ players, then SaSe will meet Creator in the second round. Should that fail, then creator can meet hack in the the quarterfinal or NaNiwa/Squirtle/Curious in the final
Clinching it against prime, ST plays Liquid next in the Loser's Bracket finals. There are few times I root against Liquid, but this will be one of them. Take it home!
Now, Startale has either merged or partner up with FIVE different teams (Quantic merged with Vile and Startale merged with ZeNEX, which was a merger of two teams), so I'm wondering, will they ever stop expanding?:p

Even though I don't watch LoL, sad to see the team disband
@Finances: I think the reason for that they disbanded was more performance-based then money-based. But since Sc2 ST has Red Bull as a big sponsor (Judge by the size on the shirts) they should be ok. But since Won Jong Wook is also the president of the E-Sports Federation, I don't know if the whole eSF vs. KeSPA thing has affected StarTale negatively.
I just watched the VODS for Startale v. Prime. Way to go Parting!!! I hope this means a change in form for you as you had a rough run in both OSL and GSL this past season.

Hopefully! Although unless he improves his PvZ, it might just come down to how many Terrans he gets in his group...Regardless though, a fantastic all-kill and a good week in general for StarTale.
Finally. It's been a hard 2 years as a Startale fan but watching Life win tonight felt so good, completely worth it. Hopefully this leads to a GSTL win and another GSL win next season

Not sure what it is, but players like Bomber, Squirtle & PartinG, and Life have a lot of style in game. They always come out with some really impressive builds, maybe it's the way the house is run.
I wonder if we can be expecting any of the ex-Quantic members joining ST? Not sure how willing ST is to expanding their already pretty full lineup. I have no objections to it though

ST will need a team of translators or they will have to make SaSe learn Korean.
Although, picking up the guy would be pretty awesome for both sides.
Great way to end the year! Startale definitely had a successful year and these finals make it even better knowing we will not only walk away with a 1st but the 2nd place as well!
Startale grabs two of the slots for outstanding player awards at the GSL Tour Awards. Both Parting and Life won for their respective races. Squirtle also shared the honor for most epic match with MVP for their GSL Finals match.
ST with Parting was a super team. I was just thinking that I sincerely wished that Startale would be in proleague.
Best lineup of player and talent hands down. Gratz to them!
I was a huge fan of Partings and Life in 2012 and have long been fans of Squirtle and July. I also have huge respect for Bomber's play, despite usually rooting against him.
Whoever is setting the tone and developing the talent over there is no doubt one of the best in SC2.
Just when PartinG was turning into a powerhouse team player too (What, 3 all kills in the last 3 months or so?) Still, it wasn't all that long ago that StarTale was in the GSTL finals and Parting was more or less in Squirtle's shadow and Ace was in Code S.

, nonetheless an amazing result for StarTale!
I was about to say the same. Too bad they can't claim six like they did a few seasons ago. But five is very very impressive. If they had Parting they would have the most since IM has five as well.
Man, StarTale just isn't the same anymore. I hope someone else rises from the depths, but that still won't change the fact that Squirtle and PartinG had by the coolest IDs on the team..
There are a few good free agents I think they could pick up with the cash they'll have lying around now, though replacing two of the best Protoss in the world is going to be an impossible task unless they decide to pick up Sage and seriously whip him into shape ... :/ That's if Sage is even teamless; I never know about him.
I think Ace has shown some flashes of good play, but I'd be hard-pressed to say I've seen flashes of brilliance from him.
Otherwise, I wouldn't mind seeing TheStC, Supernova, Symbol, Hyun, or YGO, but man, our Protoss line-up.
It'll be interesting to see how StarTale's roster plays out now. After Life, Curious, Bomber, and Hack, StarTale's next best players are probably Golden, SuHoSin, TREME, Avenge, Sparta, AcE, Sound, and Virus.
Except I just learned that Virus inconspicuously retired months ago, and neither Ace nor Sound tried to qualify for GSL last season (Ace the last 2 seasons, although Sound did play for ST in last IPTL) and SuHoSin is only part-time. All that to say that I'm going to be more interested in this season's Code A qualifiers than ever before

Virus retired and Harrier should certainly be on the list, above Sparta at least.
Would be nice if SuHo took a day off of work to play a GSTL match, lol
Looking at recent ST team photos, AcE and Sound are definitely still around, as are Harrier, Avenge, and Sparta. SuHoSin never goes on their trips because of work, so that's a mystery. I don't see TREME either but that might be because of school.
I'm hoping for Startale to pickup one of the current free agents. Along with that, I would also like to see someone already on the team step up. I would love for that person to be Sound.
Yay Tiger! From ST facebook (along with photo lol):

He ran into a Kespa Terran in the Code A qualifiers too, but then Byul 2-0'ed that guy, so he can't have been that good...
So from left to right, we have Hack, who's the short guy next to him? Then it's Brain in the back, Curious, the guy between him & Life seems familiar but I'm not sure who it is, Avenge, Bomber, another somewhat familiar face I can't recall, Golden, Sound, Sparta, Pet and Treme.
So those three guys have to be Zero, Panic and Booster then? But which one is which?
Edit: OK, I checked the GSTL pre-season VOD, the guy between Curious and Life is Zero, I knew I had seen his face somewhere before! So that leaves 2.
By the way, Zero is one of the most notorious cheesers on the Korean ladder. For a while he was playing under the smurf 한상봉 (Han Sang Bong) which is the actual name of BW Zerg Kwanro, who was also notorious for being a cheeser. I keep hoping they'll put him out one day and he'll cheese someone out in a really hilarious way, but with only bo7, putting someone just to cheese/snipe a single player is a bit risky. :p
Tiger is now in a management role, so that explains his absence.
Left to right: Hack, Panic, Brain, Curious, Zero, Life, Avenge (cut off dammit), Bomber, Booster, Golden, Sound, Sparta, Pet, TREME.
Booster is the kart rider guy.
A bit miffed about the absence of Harrier, who seems to have left ST. He really has no luck against Yugioh :[
OK, so the short guy is Panic and the one in the back with huge glasses is Booster.
I know Tiger is retired/management now, and Ace is the caster for Startale TV but what about Suho?
Don't know he took some very important time off his job to play in the GSTL with ZeNEX, and that never paid off much for him. It must have been discouraging to some degree. Nevertheless, he had his strongest individual results with Startale.
His contract with Startale ought to last a few more months, though.
He wasn't getting any playtime in ST, left for greener pastures. ZeNex and StarTale merged in July last year, so maybe his contract was about to expire and StarTale agreed to let him go.
Someone should make a fanclub for Sound, he's a total badass (or am I just too blind to find it?). Really confident that he can win the RB training grounds later today!
And of course, Life is gonna wreck his OSL group ezpz even tho he has had a rough week.
Oh and I'm loving the new jerseys, looking fresh. Startale fighting~
Today was a pretty good day for Startale; Life avoided dropping to Code B after beating Kop 2-0 and Bomber completely destroyed Flash and secured a spot in OSL ro8.
Let's hope the winning trend continues tomorrow in GSTL against AZUBU! ST fighting yo~
E: Also Hack and Sound qualified for WCS AM so things are looking good.
Hey, guys, we got SalvatioN! Balloons, fireworks, applause, etc.
New Terran blood is always good. Kind of hoped to see another Protoss on the team, but another Terran is not bad, and anyways, I am sure he will pick some stuff up from Bomber, Hack, and Sound.
Welcome SalvatioN! I was hoping for jjakji and/or Tassadar/Madbull (you gotta have dreams) but as you said, new terran blood is always good. Let's hope he can get some results with the help of Bomber, Hack and Sound.
Bumping this because this is now the home of the StarCraft World Champion. I can guarantee there are quite a few folks newer to this wondering who Life's teammates are and they'll be intrigued to see that they'll now go into Proleague with more than just him on the roster.
I asked IMBAGEAR If they were looking in to getting cloths/merc from startale. He said he would look into it if there was any interest. So I'm wondering is there? If this goes against any of TL's promotion rules, I'm very sorry please delete this.
