-Orb- is one of the greatest casters in the sc2 scene. He is arguably the best solo caster doing most of the ESV tv weeklies by himself, and keeping it entertaining as well. Orb is an extremely knowledgeable caster and many can learn a lot from listening to his in game analysis. Orb is currently a high ranked master random player.
I actually really enjoy his casting. I've watched him stream as well. I think he was playing 2v2 with Gretorp. He is a surly, profane guy when he is playing. I dig it.
This boy deserves so much more. Ive been following him since the Beta and was really sad when I heard he gave up on being a progamer because of the colorblindness. GL in the future orb. Sign me up!
Sign me up. This guy has very entertaining analytical and interesting casting. When I'm flipping through streams and hear orb's voice in anything, I stop and watch :D
Sign me up plz. Orb is underappreciated. Awesome caster. Probably the only guy besides day9 that can hold down a solo cast that well. Great commentary, not afraid to speak his mind, pretty good casting voice as well. Not to mention korean weeklies own (in part due to Orb's awesomeness).
Orb will be staying at the EG lair in Arizona for a bit, it sounds like!
He will be casting EGMCS and doing replay analysis, etc. Should be really cool. Orb has really grown on me over the last few months. He has been great with ESV.

do we even know when those exact in game comments were made? like those pictures will always be on the web, but how long does it have to affect his potential career of casting (which he has proven to be awesome with)
i always knew he was a rager and has said some things in the past that he shouldnt have. but i watched so much esv korea weekly, and he definitely won me over as a fan and supporter. his long solo casting sessions and the dedication he showed throughout was amazing
i hope orb makes the self improvements that he needs to and that im sure he is working on, and hopefully can move past this. but the sad part is, time will pass by and im sure he should get more opportunities in the future (hes to good to not get any), and some people(hater) will constantly repost these pictures, in an effort to bring him down.

Even though the "n" word has racial connotations, I don't think that using it like he did makes him "racist" like a lot of people on Reddit and TL are claiming.
In his apology, he talked about how he used that word just because he thought it would spark anger in the other person. Whether the rest of his apology was true or not, I definitely believe that that was why he used the word, and not that he is racist. I know plenty of people who use that word to get reactions, but they are not racist. It's the same way with people who tell Jew jokes and things like that. They're usually not actually anti-Semitic, they just tell them because they get strong reactions. Whether it's in good taste or not doesn't change that.
To me, it just seems like he had an angry outburst, which happens to everyone. It doesn't change the fact that he is a great caster, and acts very professionally when he casts. He threw a tantrum on his personal stream and used a poor choice of words. Big deal, everyone has done it. And I'm sure he learned his lesson. Hopefully others can see that, and it won't impact his casting career too much, because he really is a good caster.

Reddit really... I don't know. I like using Reddit, and I used to be able to say that I loved the website, and viewed it as a powerful way of connecting communities.
With this recent 'scandal' (which is honestly a BS word to describe the whole thing), I'm decided to completely remove Reddit from my browsing history, and I'm no longer going to support EG. Looks like I've decided between Liquid and EG.
Here's to hoping that this doesn't get you down. The silent many outweigh the vocal few, and we love your casting! Keep it strong, keep posting to YouTube, and continue providing a great source of entertainment! You'll always have your fans to fall back on.

While they were stupid, dumb, and immature, they were done in a relatively meaningless setting. A public apology for his past comments was warranted, that's it. I sincerely believe that.
There are videos on Youtube of DjWheat being raucous, rowdy, and throwing out curse words left and right, should he be no longer affiliated with EG because of this? People make mistakes, people do stupid shit. They should apologize and they should deserve second chances unless they did something particularly heinous.

Hi Orb, I'm not sure if you actually read this but I just wanted to tell you that I used to watch your stream half a year (estimate) ago and I really enjoyed it. As a protoss player just learning how to play the game I liked watching your ladder matches, i LOVED your playlist (I'm a huge power metal fan, we have a lot of bands in common), and I even found your nerdrage amusing.
What just recently happened to you with EG makes me really sad. People on Reddit literally pulled up screenshots from 2011 and whatever incriminating crap they could find just to start shit from nothing at all. I don't know what they were trying to get at but any reasonable person should know that you didn't mean any harm with your angry bouts on ladder. It's like saying they never get mad when playing games.... which is a total lie.
Anyway don't let all this bs get to you, it will fade away.
I hope you keep producing content Orb, though I would understand if you want no part of the community now. You got the short end of the stick, to put it lightly, but you still have a shitload of fans who actually realize how much you've done for the scene.

I do agree that he should not have been let go by EG for the words he said. Everyone including myself has definitely said some unflattering words during a frustrating game. It's normal, and for the community to freak out about it is somewhat disappointing (but this whole country in general is very sensitive to racism).
However, considering that Orb initially denied saying it (and denied it a few more times) while EG supported his denial and then it was proven he actually said it, that is more a lack of credibility from a business perspective for both him and EG. EG really had no choice once the evidence came out, and I feel if he had simply admitted to it and apologized he would have been reprimanded but not let go. Alas this didn't happen. EG supported Orb until a full investigation was committed, and I don't think they had much of a choice but to let him go considering the evidence, the mistrust, and the potential damage keeping him around might have done.
It's one thing to say something out of anger. People can forgive that. However, in business lying is never tolerated. Credibility is one of the most valuable traits people can really represent themselves by and it can make or break your career. I feel bad and hope Orb continues to cast because he is a great caster, but I think this a good lesson for the future in terms of being honest with people.

Everybody has definitely done some things they are not proud of and most of us have done things that would be detrimental to our jobs/career/whatever you want. I'm not trying to make excuses, but it's all about whether you get caught or not. I think everybody would be surprised what happens behind the scenes in every sport or business.
As one of your many fans, I will continue to watch your casting, and will continue to do so as long as you maintain the amazing quality that has earned my, and many other's admiration.

Sign me up, I've always been a fan of Orb. First he had one of the most entertaining streams to watch, I remember I was looking for it when it wasn't featured. I enjoyed many broadcasts and also learned quite some innovative little things. Then Orb continued to pleasantly surprise me, raising to become a great SC2 caster, at a level that often left me asking myself why he isn't in Korea working for GOM. In any case, I appreciate your work, Orb, and will follow you in the future too.

And calling someone retarded implies that they have a mental disorder, and yet people do this all the time and I have seen no threads crusifying those.

Well, generally, yes.
People refer to someone as 'being a Nazi' quite frequently 'Bush is a Nazi!' or 'My boss is a real Nazi' or 'Stop being the dishcleaning Nazi'
However, there's a massive differnce that is well pointed out by the example...calling someone a Nazi is meant to be an insult, because it's generally agreed that being a Nazi is not a good thing and it has a meaning, a Nazi would be a harsh, dictatorial uneasonable hateful person. A Nazi is literally a person with Nazi beliefs, you're not born it, its something you actively are doing. Some people do simply get offended at the mention of Nazis or the fact that something trivial is used to compare to something more horrific...but then they're offended because you're 'Making light of..' something serious...which yes people get offended but it rarely holds a whole lot of water in the general population if that's not really what you're doing.
On the other hand, the N word does refer to blacks as a race. So pretend it wasn't even 'nigger' pretend it was just 'black person' and the word itself isn't even offensive, but the actual use is. "You're taking dumb Black Person risks" would be an offensive thing to say. You're taking the word, nigger or black, and essentially putting it in a context where it means 'stupid, bad, negative' So the N-word has two different uses the are both offensive in different ways...actually calling a black person 'nigger' is dehumanizing because it refers directly to that intention, you're insulting that person or persons directly. The 2nd use though is not using it to insult black people directly, but using it as a synonym for other insults.
It's very similar to the usage of 'Gay'..it's widely understood that Gay is essentially used as a synonym for 'Lame' "HOTS isn't going to have Carriers anymore? That's Gay" Clearly no one is saying the SC2 expansion is a homosexual, or that not having carriers will cause MC to make less panties drop. But its insulting because an indentifying term for a group of people is literally being used as an insult.
It would be like saying "You ran away? man that's so French" and not understanding French people objecting to the connection...(not very loudly though, they're kind of timid about confrontations)
Now with all that said, something can be offensive but still not be grounds for someone to be publicly destroyed. I think we have to see these offensive things where the offense isn't too maliciously intended as 'Oops, I'll correct that' type situations instead of permanent taints on people.
So much we say and continue to say will be offensive in like 5 to 10 years, or may be very offensive in one country and not another. We're in a world where in some countries its still perfectly fine to write 'Looking for a Female Indian receptionist' in a help wanted ad, but in other countries you'll get fired for trying to suggest a reason not enough girls become engineers.
I hope Orb is doing good, I hope that since most of the 'offense' over this stuff was completely faked anyway, we can just move past it and he's not tainted forever.

I've always liked Orb's casting and thought he offered a lot of insight into games and recently I saw his comments on State of the game episode 65 and I have to say I have so much respect for him now.
I loved his outlook and he proved my suspicions when he talked on SoTG, that he's a very intelligent guy. Supporting you with your E-sports career man and I hope you continue to grow in popularity.
I absolutely believe that it was NOT him in the screenshot that did surface, and I encourage anyone who thinks otherwise to watch him explain the issue on SoTG vod on youtube.

Just thought I should say that I really like the way Orb says things like "I don't think I like this but thenagain Teaja is better than me or that was just a mistake people are human" or words to that extent. Long time fan (loved the stream rage back in season 1) but never got around to here. IMO he is the best caster out there and is my favourite, ESV doesn't get as many viewers as it does. Please sign me up.
