I checked everywere and didnt find a fanclub, and thought it was a crime that there wasn't one.
I would add that perhaps liking socke on facebook (link in OP, or search "sockeh") is really valuable, as he runs that page (or at least sanctions it) and might be able to use the support to show and boost his profile with sponsors
I will add all content and links posted - so feel free to contribute, and do my best to search and add updates each time I come across them of course
go and win the mlg dallas, and if you play against IdrA, do the smiley
I think any player facing idra could randomly "" in chat at a critical moment and make him tilt so hard with rage and fury that he makes a mistake >_<
Ill do my very best to update all MLG content I come across, I dont have time to go back and research interview from before CeBIT, and also a lot of links are dead - so hopefully each major event from IEM World Champs onwards will have good content listings.

I hope that the next games will be better, but PvP is always a little bit random, so I'm concerned.
Yeah, not the best start against IdrA Seems a lot of mindgames and predictions about styles and builds went on before the games, and IdrA came out on top :p
Long way to go yet, not getting top 2 in your pool still gives you a chance to win the whole thing, albeit harder .

Would be fun, but I doubt it. Socke is chill person like Tyler. Its probably his regular clothing, or at least late in the night when this was eventually recorded.
I love watching Socke play and any time I need to work on a specific matchup and I need replays to check out to try to learn something, I download Socke replays. :D
I met him at MLG this year and he is one of the coolest guys I met all weekend. My personal favorite protoss. <3
what i liked the most about sockes play was how he sat in his base for 25 minutes building nothing but voidrays. and i was shocked at his awesome play by retreating after reducing dimaga to 100 supply and proceeding to wait another 10 minutes before finally ending it
^_^
nah but he did play well for the first few hours of that game

The feedbacks made up for everything :p
Although I must admit shouting for him to attack quite a lot!
Don't want to take the honor away from him but he got most his wins against zergs using an abusive style of early stargate which zerg doesn't have a good counter to. Though his last game versus Dimaga that was 50 minutes was good.
Lost a lot of respect from me today, those games verse DIMAGA were just pathetic. Game is very far from balanced, still... Sad Socke has to pay the price in my imagenary world.

Eh, what? So Socke lost your respect for playing well and winning against one of the best zergs in Europe? Regardless of what you think about the game balance, why would you lose respect for a player because he wins? And it's not even like he went for a lot of all-ins or anything like that. And lastly, this is the Socke fanclub thread, not the "criticize Socke for no apparent reason" thread.
Sign me up! Congratulations on your SHOUTcraft win, Socke, and thank you so much for knocking Nerchio out of the tournament; this is revenge for what he did to Kiwikaki in the IPL 2!
today, early early morning on my way to work i wanted to have a breakfeast at macdonalds. i ordered and sat down took the first bite and was like "WTF SOCKE IS SITTING NEXT TO ME"
first i was not sure because im bad at recognize faces and was reaaallly sleepy. also he was reading a book so i did not dare to interrupt him. then he stood up and i saw his MLG bag, my brain was confirming that this is my favorite late game monster protoss.
because my brain does not work this early all i could come up with was:
"SOCKEEEE?" he turned around like "yeah?" we shaked hands. we exchanged some words i was like "too bad only 4th" he was like "its an ok result" i was like " yeah i guess.. koreans".. he was like "yeah.." and so on for about a minute. i did not want to bother him with taking a picture or something because i dont know how often this happens to him or if he had time... i wished him good luck and there he went.
he was really friendly. just like you know him from the streams. such a cool dude too bad i did not had to take the same train as him!!
happy to have shook hands with him :D maybe some DNA now is in my body, like spiderman i am now sockeman!!!!!

write me a PM when the next homestory cup is announced and tell me to take a paper with me so he can sign it and ill send it to you. cant be that expensive to send a piece of paper to america ;D
socke fans unite!
( i think MLG should rise the prize pool. it seems with all the money involved into esports is disrespectful to players to put out such a small prizepool. MLG just will become a local tournament and fans will loose interest)

thoght this thread may enjoy this
Yeah, he's exactly like that. When I asked him for an autograph before his match against MaNa at Gamescom he didn't talk much and I felt uncomfortable because it was just 10 mins before his match and he felt like a bit pissed off. Maybe it was because he was mentally preparing himself for his match, because when I met him earlier at gamescom he was friendlier, but unfortunately I didn't have anything to sign there. But Socke is just a cool guy, I wish him best of luck at IPL and NASL ans wherever he will attend to play. It's sad that he had no time for MLG Raleigh, but a calm guy like him also needs some time off
I really would've like to see him attenting at MLG again, very sad. Anyways keep practicing I really hope to see you winning something big in the future.
Good little blurb about Socke in today's writeup of the NASL:
I wanted to write something nice about Socke here, but I couldn't really come up with so many good ideas (he's 3-1 in his group, beating some very good opponents). Though he is so consistently solid, the problem is that Socke suffers from some horribly bad luck in never having played a memorable game against a famous player that was seen by many viewers. Regardless of what we think of their present skill, we're still gonna remember Rain for his epic win against Boxer at MLG, or Cruncher for knocking Idra out of TSL3. Socke just hasn't had that kind of luck in his career, and I can't help but feel bad that he hasn't had a great showcase match so more people will learn how good he is.
Seems to be the problem. Socke's so consistently good but yet hasn't had really epic games, aside from Jinro in MLG Dallas 2010 and that one game against Killer that most people haven't seen.
Edit: 2 days later, I call bullshit on myself. He had that hour long PvZ with Dimaga at Dreamhack.
Of course he's gonna be in Korea at the beginning of december. Socke is one of the three representatives of Germany for the WCG 2011 in Busan, South Korea!

ah didn't catch that. thanks dude. still AWESOMENESS
What's not to like in this guy? To begin with, he looks badass with the way he looks. Secondly, he is a great, great Protoss player, one of the best Protoss in Europe (Hasu, Mana, Socke, Naniwa, Whitera). Furthermore, he always puts good showing and decent finishing in the tournaments he attends, and manages to compete very well with the top guns. Lastly, amazingly he is one of the few Toss players who Idra (gasp) respects, from what I could have seen from his interviews.
Im not sure why it wont let me edit the original post - im basically unable to change or add anything - but if someone who is more active wants to take it over by all means start a new one and we can have mods delete/transfer this
For example I am signed into my account and can edit this post, but not the OP.

I think it's based on time passed since last edit. Not sure though.
Also I fucking love Socke, as always
If you want me to I can take this over. Lemme know.
too bad Socke barely didn`t make it out of the groups. He played a good tournament though. Here is an interview SK Gaming made with him right after he went out of the tourney (maybe add it to the OP?). I really like his cool attitude and good analysis.
After a bunch of results this MLG that I was not too fond of, including Socke not doing too well in his group, I was disappointed he was up against a player known for taking out strong protoss in tournaments... but I'm so glad he won. :D
On a side note, Socke you should go on State of the Game again!
Next up against CrazymoviNG. Gonna be tough, he almost knocked HerO out of Code A, it was very close. I hope Socke can pull through buts it's going to dificult.
Holy shit! Apparently Socke continues his run beating TheSTC!!! YES!! A rematch vs HuK will be difficult though.. :O What an amazing run though! Keep going Socke!
Socke in the losers' bracket beats Puma, DeMuslim, CrazyMoving, TheStC! O.O Now he has Huk's PvP to deal. Whatever the result Socke already had an amazing run.

Couldn't agree more. Unfortunately extended series will put pay to his run, but the quality of opponents he has beaten today just shows his quality, and all without living in Korea or being on a big team.
Hopefully we can stop hearing the words "suprising" and "unexpected" everytime casters speak about Giacomo in the future!
Updated a few MLG pics in the OP, Im on the look-out for any interviews - if anyone finds some I'll gladly add.
On March 26 2012 03:12 RageCommodore wrote: Poor Socke :< when will MLG finally learn that extended series is bullsh*t?
I understand their argument for why its there, but at each MLG its clear that every single time it comes into play there is no point watching that series because its a foregone conclusion.
When you go down to the championship bracket it should be a reset, and the previous games should be "deleted" from the record because they have informed the positions in the champ bracket. HuK's benefit for beating Socke in groups is getting placed 3 x Bo3 ahead of him.

Excatly this, but let's be honest, as great as Socke played today, Huk would have won 2-1 anyway. Still a great run.
Socke killed three Koreans, HuK and Naniwa both only two. For me, he is the best foreigner of this event! Now win ONOG please while still in Boss-Mode.
amazing games by socke at MLG in champ bracket, re-affirming to the rest of the world his position as one of EU's top protoss; sending EG members and koreans packing!!
socke " vote for me @ http://www.facebook.com/nasltv to be in S3. should be tough, but if i qualify ill ul a song i recorded years ago if ppl are interested:D"
gogo guys it for one want to hear what he recorded
It is and always will be a pleasure to see your games in ESL or see you cast at Take´s home. I really liked the interview you have held with Knochen. You are a reason to view the next HomeStoryCup for me ^^ Hold on, stay your way, and, which is the most important thing of all, study the way you like!
I always like to hear you, in German or in English does not matter. Great luck for you.
I think socke is an awesome player but this fight club his storms have been terrible pretty much every game its frustrating to watch. Still hope he wins so I can see him up against polt.
You have shown great games so far at the MLG Spring Arena II and would like to acknowledge your competitive capabilities once more. Here is a fan that is cheering for you.
Good to see you atleast in poolplay. In the spring championship you'll own from day 1 on and not just in the championship bracket and show them again how great you are. (Although you played also pretty well in this arena)
Wow, this guy is so massively underrated it doesn't even make sense! Always beating amazing players, looking like a badass while he does it. Socke fighting!
Sign me up! I've been consistently impressed with Socke's play since I saw him way back in the Shoutcraft Invitational. And now here he is giving DRG his only two losses in group play. So amazing, so underrated.
Sign me up, he's been consistent for pretty much forever (I first watched him against DeMuslim in some showmatch, and then against Jinro in MLG which Jinro won the whole thing eventually) He is up there with other foreign tosses like Sase, Huk, Hasu and Naniwa.
THAT was sooo unexpected. Heart, OK, upset to me but not that huge of an upset, I know Socke's good, but DRG in that same tournament too? WOW. Instant fan!
Bad Luck Socke. He defeated propably the best PvP player and one of the best Zergs and still finished 4th in his group and got no price money and too little recognition for his achievments :-/
Anyone can predict if he will stay in pools for next MLG or will be invited to arenas due to his points?
If they make it like last season, he won't have to play the European Open Qualifiers, but he will have to play the European Invite Only Qualifiers, where the Top 8 makes it to the Summer Arena 2. But this will only happen this way if they don't change the format too much, so don't take that for certain.
But Socke played well, and I was in danger of losing #1 in the group. However, SaSe came in late and beat Socke, which was great for me. I was watching their match thinking “Please lose, please lose,” and I was really thankful to SaSe.
I'm proud to be a fan of the kryptonite of one of the most skilled zergs in SCII. Socke fighting ~~~!
It was pretty nice to see Socke ranked 10th in the power rank for WCS Europe. I still think he should be higher but he's been consistently underrated for quite some time.
Hoping he stomps everyone at WCS! There's a potential PvP in round 2 but past that not many Protoss in that bracket until potentially the finals. (I would be amazed if either NightEnd or Hasu made it through Stephano, but they're both good players and nothing's impossible.) Stephano is scary but that's the final part of the bracket.
4-0 so for at IEM! Great Run Socke, i hope u can heep it up in the next 2 days, i would like to see a german player getting a big farer in international tournaments! GG GL!
congrats on the nice run in katowice socke. im curious about socke's taste in music as jarrett cale mentioned that he's into death metal and the like and listens to it while playing! can anyone elaborate perhaps, or has socke mentioned this in interviews or something like that?
Pretty sweet all-kill against ROOT in the Acer TeamStory Cup!
When Socke plays, I always remember the old 2on2s vs Socke & Plague. And a strange 4on4 in a clanwar in 2001 on a weird map in some Stammkneipe.de tournament I reckon. :D
Great stream. I like to see him fighting his way back to the top, as it seemed that he had lost his passion in the last months. He was always one of my favourite players.
Yeah its a shame, always been a huge fan of Socke, especially his PvT. Sign me up in here I can't believe I never posted in this thread before. I still remember that game of his on desert oasis where he was PvT someone and had the most badass storm timing ever.
