Honestly, I love the artwork. I think that it sets a great tone for the show. And the character design is pretty cute. I think that what makes the show so great is the witch fights. It's a blend of great visuals, and dark music that really gives a dark mood. That's just what I think though. Take it with a grain of salt  | ||

As for why people like Madoka, it has an excellent style, some large names in staff and managed to look like it has good production value on top of potential for plot. Not sure what else people really need. | ||

I don't enjoy the art (actually I don't like it at all D: ) but the story isn't what you'd expect. It isn't your typical "mahou shoujo pewpew rainbows out of my lolicane", but its actually a bit dark and gory. The abstract forms in the witch world make it interesting. We don't know a whole lot about the plot yet, but I hope it'll only get darker from this point onward. | ||

It's not just lolis and sparkles at all. + Show Spoiler [Madoka 4] + Kyubey is such a dick. The entire episode was creepy as hell. So the series is 1/3 done and the titular character still isn't a mahou shoujo lol. Edit: The school design isn't amazing, it's just weird. I mean, glass classrooms? =/ | ||
