- Chrno Crusaide - Elfen Leid - Gundam Wing (first anime I really watched) - Samurai Champloo - Onegai Teacher (yes... I know...) - Hellsing (OVA) (OVA >>>>> original show) - Chobits (ya I know... again)
Things I look for in an anime:
- Art style (samurai Champloo, Hellsing OVA, etc... not really a fan of the cartoon-ey or the overly realistic styles... I want something high quality that looks like the anime style of that makes sence)
- Love story, I like one. Doesn't have to be the focus, the people don't have to get together at the end, but something cute between characters is always nice... Something devoid of love story just doesn't interest me... all fighting or all story just doesn't hook me without some tension between love interests.
- Fighting... a plus, but not always needed. Now here, I get a little bit pickey with my fighting. I tried to watch sengoku basara but couldn't get into it because of how the fighting looked, on the other hand I watched Samurai Champloo because the way they did the fight scenes were amazing to me. I like gundams (gundam wing, Evangeleon), I like monsters (Hellsing, Chrno Crusade), or just between people (Samurai Champloo, Kenshin).
Not really a fan of:
- guns (I'm a fantasy or sci fi kind of guy... I want swords or giant robots, pistols rifles and machineguns just don't get me going.),
- aliens I've tried to watch a bunch of shows with aliens and for some reason I just can't do it, giant monsters in a fantasy anime, shure, but aliens I just can't do it.
- Loli, if I'm going to watch a cartoon with a sex interest it might as well be one with boobs near my own age...
- - - - - - - - - -
So if anyone wants to help me find some stuff to watch let me know , I've started to watch and then quit watching a tonne of shows so I might have seen a lot of stuff people might recommend, but I'm looking for help. Thanks in advance, and well... I'm really looking for an anime with some sort of fighting, a love interest, and some great art. I'm having a hard time finding things but you might fare better . Thanks.
I would suggest. Code Geass - sci-fi mecha , with a love trinagle Darker than Black - just an awesome superhuman/special agent type show Ghost in the Shell (the series)- not much to say here one of my favorites Full metal Alchemist Brotherhood - awesome art style lots of fighting, some love Claymore- Fantasy, lots of gore, good art work Black Lagoon Full metal Panic Hajime no Ippo - boxing anime lots of great fight scenes and surprisingly good character development and plot for a villain of the week type show. I am probably missing a bunch of great shows but I watch a ton of anime it's one of the ways that I used to teach my self Japanese when I lived in Yokosuka.

Eureka Seven - sci-fi mecha, romance, you could say aliens but not really. Cross Game - The animation is more retro, there's a bit of romance, in terms of fighting they're playing baseball (lol)

Eureka Seven was pretty good actually, Cross Game will look to see if I like the art style and the voice acting and will give it a shot possible. (Also about the sports thing, thats cool too... eyeshield 21, H2, hajime no ippo, all were pretty good... well eyeshield was awesome, H2 was meh, and hajime no ippo was also pretty good.)

A Vision of Escaflowne seems to be the best fit for you. Fantasy, Romance, same era as gundam wing, Mechs and a good story.

Seen that already.. I've watched like 50% of animenfo's top 200, and read most of the manga that was on onemanga (when it was alive)... I'm running out of anime to watch simply because I don't know where to look for it . So I came looking to a place filled with people that watch anime :D. so it comes to codecs too
If you think Im wrong sorry,
most/all english groups do XviD avi + h.264 (using x264) mkv mkv's also multilanguage too.
not sure what kind of group you're talking about that does .kmp unless you're talking about RAW ones, where really those'll be part of the DVD/BD. DVD's ones are MPEG-2.

I am allready learning a lot of other languages I cant learn japanese too, at least not the written part and that's so frustrating when you have to wait for VNs to be translated which takes years
I actually took japanese classes in my highschool (for about 3-4 years of it), will be actually taking more classes of it next quarter, but this quarter I'm going for korean...and working towards knowing all the east asian languages + english :d

Yeah DTB is great, season one was perfect and the opening song is awesome.
I should warn you though, season two ends very abrubtly, right when the interesting stuff starts to happen (this isn't really spoiler). I hope they'll make a season 3 because we didn't get an actual ending imo.

Season two reminded me allot of the movie Leon the Professional it was okay but it felt like a different series.

Like shows with giant robots or like actual Gundam shows? Gundam wing and Gundam Seed are the only two Gundam shows with the name I've seen.

Currently trying to watch darker than black, will look into full metal pani... seen every thing else on the list .
Found a couple that people recommended I can look into so far so its been good for me so far.
How many Gundam shows have you watched? Have you watched any Macross?
Like shows with giant robots or like actual Gundam shows? Gundam wing and Gundam Seed are the only two Gundam shows with the name I've seen.
I'd suggest watching the original Gundam, and Zeta Gundam. Both are classics. Beyond that, Gundam 08th MS Team is very good as well. G Gundam is a good Super Robot Gundam show. Gundam X is like a post-apocalyptic Gundam show, which is under appreciated IMO (although the end was very rushed). Garrod, the main character, is like the best/most likable Gundam MC of all time. Turn A Gundam is another good show to watch, and is very... different from other Gundam shows. Still very good IMO. G/X/Turn A all have romance in them as well.
Macross is the other great Mecha franchise. In every single Macross show, you have your giant transformable Robots who fight aliens, and you have a Love-Triangle. The original, Macross Plus (essentially Macross+Top Gun), and Frontier are good for a watch. Apparently Macross 7 is good too, but I've never watched it.

I should warn you though, season two ends very abrubtly, right when the interesting stuff starts to happen (this isn't really spoiler). I hope they'll make a season 3 because we didn't get an actual ending imo.
I pretended the story for DtB ended after season 1. Season 2 was a giant letdown.
the Darker than Black second season didnt really connect with the first one. It kind of felt like one big filler episode. So I have to say it was still not bad in and of itself, it just didnt connect with the first season.
And MM! episode 12 was awesome as well. I hope there will be a second season

Katanagatari fits most of your standards I believe.
I mean, the dialogue is really long, which might benefit or take away from your enjoyment of the piece....but I fucking loved it to death. For some reason, I just really really really liked it.

how can you dislike LIVING THE DREAM
@Insanious: Some good fantasy: Orphen, Rune Soldier, Record of Lodoss War, Vampire Hunter D, Slayers for older stuff, Legend of Legendary Hero, uwatermeromemo (sp? good luck googling my spelling) for newer.
Kaze no stigma (mediocre plot, awesome protag) Rahxephon (similar to Eva) Outlaw Star (space) Cowboy Bebop (space - same director/creator of Samurai Champloo) People have liked Heroic Age (space, mech) but I thought the pacing was slow and dropped it around 8 eps in.
