Haven't you seen Ecael's posts gushing about Bungaku Shoujo? ![]()

Was anyone else kind if..dissapointed? I knew the protagonist had a bad past but I didn't think it'd control the movie THAT much. From the one preview I figured it'd be a like light hearted comedy with some romance where he faces his past etc.. I mean, I pretty much entirely forgot how the one girl EATS BOOKS. I figured they'd play on that a bit more. My mind started getting tired from being dragged around everywhere(past present different problem etc). And towards the end I was like 'oh he still likes the blonde girl' then he leaves to kiss the book girl and I'm like -_- didn't really like the ending either; ladies hair was cut so it could be anyone!

When I watched the movie, I'd already read one of the novels, so I knew what I was getting into beforehand. Though I will say, when I read the first novel, I wasn't expecting the story to suddenly shift into serious mindfuckery. That said, I really like the story for doing that. Book eating, while kind of an odd idea, would be a pretty terrible in terms of being a plot device lol. I'm pretty glad that they didn't really focus on that. That Touko is the eponymous bunkagu shoujo is emphasized more by her understanding and love of books than her book eating, which I very much prefer. Waiting for further elaboration from Ecael~

![]() Touko eating books was never an important point because it is impossible to make it an important point. The LN took 5 vols of setting up for her book eating to have more of a role in the plot in 6~8. You simply can't go into her eating books in any detail or else you are forced to devote a good 20ish minutes on it. Can't afford to do that in an anime. But yes, the term Bungaku Shoujo is referring to that...archetype, I guess, that Touko represents. She says that her book eating is an accent on it, Konoha calls her a youkai for it, etc etc. Either way, the book eating was for the longest time only a random attribute of Touko, who is perfectly normal otherwise, and had little plot significance. Then the author used it more and it was awesome. The movie did the glove and pencil scene, so I think it should be pretty obvious what Konoha's feelings are now. Konoha's feeling toward Miu now is no longer romantic (whether it ever was is completely debatable too), but a mix of friendship and guilt. The mystery aspect of the original series in presenting an issue, wrapping it neatly around the plot of some literature of the past and then getting you in the back was not as prominent in the movie. So the movie was kind of caught in this odd position of needing to focus on the plot as well as catch up on development of the whole 4 vols before it unmentioned. That led to them cutting out a lot of the mystery elements in the book and spent a ton of time elaborating on the events of the past. It bogged down the movie a little as a whole, but it was pretty much necessary.

By the way, where's the actual start of the Bungaku Shoujo books? I've read a couple of the manga volumes and half a random novel, but there's so many different series that I'm not sure which the core ones are.

I deliberately avoided all Disappearance spoilers and the camrip so this was the first time I've seen it. Don't know what to say. Excellent quality, great story. 10/10 + Show Spoiler + Poor Yuki. ![]()

Baka was sort of a shock for me. I knew that it was supposed to be a non-serious comedy with a side dish of battle, but still it felt like it was 13 episodes that had almost nothing to do with each other, tied up with 1 piece of thin, loose string by a 3 year old. The main plot was almost non-existent, but the humor was good. The show was nice, but not captivating at all. This is one of those shows to watch, when you have nothing else to watch, and want to a laugh a little, or relax a bit.

+ Show Spoiler + In the preview of the 12th episode it said that like every game, there must be an ending to a story. But that doesn't mean there shouldn't be a sequel. Then Elsie asks what that means. I guess its safe to say there will be a second season next year eh? Overall, I really enjoyed TWGOK so far. Although the cake episode...I had no idea what the hell was going on lulz

Although the cake episode...I had no idea what the hell was going on lulz The 12th episode is just Keima in god capturing mode. It's more or less a filler chapter in the manga. Edit: The preview is just hinting at a sequel (which is already confirmed, as mentioned). "Many games are intended to have sequels these days, so you have to be careful." Yeah... It's worth trying.

It's worth trying. Nah, I used the old Mazui subs someone posted on their comments and adjusted the offset and some timings slightly. I used one of the raw BD rips. The new Mazui version is much better, because I lost font styling in the process and my timing sucks in some locations. But it's the same raw that was used. I'll wait and see if the version Doki are putting out next is better, but even if it's a share raw, the quality is good (and no FLAC audio, which is a bonus, because I can't watch 1080p with FLAC, but flawlessly with any other audio codec).
