This isn't Fairy Tail but who knows~ Don't worry. You'll know when One Piece starts turning into Fairy Tail because Robin would be naked. Well One Piece isn't as bad as Fairy Tail from the fan service chapter I saw, but it's not like nudity is the clear distinction because Nami and Robin have had bathing scenes.
Disappointed with Robin and Usopp. Robin showed again how her fruit has a glaring weakness, any parts that she generates can be harmed and it harms herself. Just like in the Fishman Island arc some goons were thinking of poisoning Robin's huge legs. Usopp ran away and blamed Franky though I'm sure Ussop will redeem himself before the arc is over it seems like right now he still needs to rely on Soge King.

This isn't Fairy Tail but who knows~ Nah. They're not Blackbeard and breaking the established rules of devil fruits.

Well he did think he was there pretty much alone and without backup (and therefore comically—from our point of view—blaming Franky for not coming to help him), having forgotten most (all?) of the tontatta and Robin after they've turned into toys.

The dwarfs weren't turned into toys yet and Franky physically couldn't come with Ussop.

Pretty much everyone Ussop went with turned into toys, thus it seemed like it was him vs the snot guy and little girl without backup.
Honestly, as cowardly as it seems to us, retreating is the smartest thing for him to do regardless.

She kind of needs a weakness like that. Besides she's not expected to be a fighter.

The point sumsar was trying to make was that the dwarfs that went with Usopp were turned into toys so he forgot about them making it seem like he went alone. Obviously he didn't forget about them since he was just recalling them before blaming Franky he even said he would write a book about their bravery. You can also see on this page a lot of dwarfs are not toys yet, though in a previous chapter some were turned into toys.

Usopp will definitely do something in the fight to take out Sugar. Do you people honestly think there will be an arc where Usopp just peaces and leaves everyone to their fate? He has always shown cowardice, but manned up and did what he could in the nick of time.
I just wish we could see more of Franky's battle. But I guess there is more to come there. I'm wondering if Luffy will challenge Doflamingo before Sugar is taken out?

He forgot the individual dwarves he went with (AKA all his backup), not the entire tribe and their mission. He recalled the ones who weren't turned into toys.

I don't think anyone thinks he's going to peace out and leave everyone, but when I'm saying is I'm disappointed that what he will do, instead of standing and fighting like he should have in the first place, will ultimately be some joke shit that just happens to win the day, instead of a real fight (ie Fishman Island arc).

Sure the dwarfs look a bit silly but they're not toys and he is recalling a conversation with the dwarfs that backed him not at the tribe's home.
Yeah no One Piece fan thinks Usopp will run away and not do anything in the end. That's been his standard formula pre-time skip, being a coward but still contributing to the group. Some fans just expect him not to run post time skip or at least not out of cowardice.

If Sogeking turns up next episode, and Franky General . ..
Oh wow

So, you guys are expecting Usopp to have turned into Zoro or Sanji over the time skip. Otherwise, I have no idea why anyone would expect him to stand his ground and fight.

I don't expect him to stand on the front lines and go toe-to-toe with an enemy, but that doesn't mean he has to run away either. He easily could have used his sniping abilities as part of the initial plan. Or he could have shot out a few plants to help create a distraction while the dwarfs attempted to attack Sugar or to help them against Trebol. He didn't have to get right into the battle to influence it. He's a sniper and could do some good work while hiding and keeping himself safe.
Instead, he did absolutely nothing. I'd like to see a little character growth, and we see none.
I'm sure he'll rally himself and get the job done somehow. He'll redeem himself a little bit in the next few chapters, but Usopp is starting to annoy me.

You people act like this isn't par for the course for Usopp. You'd think that if this stuff annoyed you guys, it wouldn't take 700+ chapters for the annoyance to start to set in.

Do you think the only way Usopp can experience "character development" is all the sudden not being a coward? Is that the whole scope of "character development" for you?

Not arguing in OP thread.
I'll leave that to the rest of you.

It's one thing for Ussop to be scared. I would have been fine with him even simply hiding for a little bit before finding his will to fight. But with him running away like this, I just feel like his character has reverted to what it was before Luffy found him on whatever that island was called.
He's already done the whole "running away then realising he can't" thing way back in Arlong Park. I thought he had grown past that, even if only a little.
Does he have to have the Sogeking mask on to be able to do anything?

Does he have to have the Sogeking mask on to be able to do anything? And Arlong park was really epic since it was back when he really was completely scared. Over the timeskip he's still scared, but he does stuff way more regularly. He was scared of the dragon, but he still stayed and helped out with no hesitation. He was scared in fishman, but he didn't back down. This seems slightly counter to his newer personality.
