Nami I dislike mostly because she is violent to all the others for no reason and generally acts like a spoiled brat. To be honest, I actually really liked her early on but she's just been getting worse and worse. Also is greatly favored by the author, in my opinion unfairly towards the other characters. Nico Robin was my favorite character and still is good but the post-timeskip direction still hasn't been the best. Luffy's somehow become a tiny person, almost a midget who everyone is taller of when early on he was a very very tall boy. That doesn't really make a whole lot of sense to me. Still, I really like him as a character, he in fact is pretty much the only big shounen main character who I really like, perhaps because he seems to have been designed a bit more tongue-in-cheek. I think it's actually disappointing that the comedy elements have become repetitive and just not as good, for example it was hilarious when the strawhats were bullying Carue and it was a joy to follow those more comedyish "filler" episodes but lately you're mostly waiting for the main story to develop because I at least don't find most of the interaction between the crew members that funny, interesting or "fresh" anymore. That sounds pretty negative but of course I love the whole marine and pirate and void century and poneglyph and blackbeard and doflamingo-type things and in my opinion the overall plot is extremely interesting and promising in general. In fact, that's the main reason for me to watch the show and I don't regret it, it's still my favorite manga(ToG I prefer over it though). If I was following it just for the characters... Hm, there's actually not that much competition, One Piece is head and shoulders above every long-running shounen manga/anime that I can think of. Something like Grisaia no Kajitsu still beats it handily in that department, though, and I really shouldn't need to pretend that the OP characters are better than they are just because I like the show. | ||
