Sanji really isn't that strong as shown in the series currently, maybe he can show his worth if he ended up beating a yonkou level commander meanwhile. Dunno man, he was weak against Vergo, not even close to 'toe to toe' because he fractured his leg instantly. Then got into trouble some more against Doflamingo midair. Ok in hindsight there is not a single way Sanji could defend against DF. But they got away, so lets hope he did something noteworthy. But you see, all this weakness is going to build up another Robin moment where they fight for him somehow, he is 'Only Alive' bounty. That is his moment of growth. Where Zoro already has countless.

Sanji did smash master Sheepshead in one kick. Sheepshead is a Kaido subordinate of unknown ability. He's probably not a top tier subordinate, but he seems to be above the rest of the group that was with him, so he's not complete fodder either. At the very least, someone thought he and his group were good enough to track down Kinemon and Kanjuro.
Sanji was probably going to lose to Vergo and Doflamingo, but they're both very high up. Vergo was going 1v2 against Smoker and Law and still nearly won. Doflamingo was a complete badass who toys with almost any opponent. Unfortunately, for unknown reasons he didn't bother to use his puppet strings against Luffy, otherwise he might have won.
So really, the issue with Sanji is a lack of exposure recently. He hasn't had a good fight in awhile where he could go all out. His battles against Vergo and Doflamingo were both cut short. His last two wins (Sheepshead and Wadatsumi) were stomps. Hopefully he gets a match soon that will be a good fight.

I'm sure Sanji will show that he is strong in the future either because he is holding back or he will get stronger mid fight, but really nothing he has shown so far is impressive. You can say Sanji didn't get the chance to be serious, but neither were Vergo or DD. Sanji after fighting Vergo fractured his leg and after fighting DD was seriously injured.
It's not hate to say Sanji appears weak, he does seem to lack power, not being able to hurt Vergo or DD. We don't even know for certain if Sanji can use armament haki. Comparing Sanji to Franky, Franky does not appear to have any agility, but has more than enough power with his beam and Shogun. Zoro on the other hand could be holding back despite fighting and defeating tough opponents.

neither of them were in a situation to get serious, the place was starting to fall apart and poison gas pouring in, neither side knew how long the whole thing was going on so werent going to go balls to the wall when they both know theres alot more opponents they need to be wary of
ya sanji underestimated him in the initial class and took an injury but tahts far from conclusive to say that Vergo was stronger then him

The point is no matter how you look at it, Sanji fan or not, the fights for Sanji have not been favorable. Sanji's legs are his weapons he shouldn't let them get damaged. Like the Zoro mini flash back lecture from Mihawk, you should always coat your weapon with haki, if it gets damaged it's your own fault. Does Sanji know armament haki? All we have is the implied confirmation from Luffy when talking about Caesar. Why wouldn't he use it there even if it was a time sensitive fight, I don't see why you hold back in time sensitive fights.

Pretty sure Sanji knows armament haki aside from SBS answer by Oda it was also pointed out at one chapter when law asked who has haki and can hit the Gas dude from punk hazard.

Law was actually completely useless that time cause he could never fight with Vergo holding his heart but pretty much Law just outclassed Vergo like how Law kinda outclassed everybody that is not luffy/zoro during punk hazard(may also be a sign that he could have never switched luffy/zoro with anybody that time you know like how luffy prevented himself from being frozen just with haki).
Now Sanji may not be as strong Luffy and Zoro(cause after their showcase of timeskip the two are wayyy too ridiculous ) but they are still monster trio i mean Sanji is still the 3rd strongest of SH for sure and while he wasn't favored against his opponents(Doflamingo or Vergo) but he was able to stand up against them you know just like that Mihawk vs Rose Swordsman from Whietbeards Crew back during the marineford war certainly there's no way he'd win against mihawk but he can still fight him. It was a similar situation for Sanji against mingo and maybe vergo too.

How is it possible that you guys keep insisting that a 'fractured leg' is so small and can be written off so casually, dude, have you have broken your leg? It hurts and it hurts a long time if not correctly repositioned. Any movement with that leg is seriously impaired. A broken leg is like Zoro losing two or three of his swords. You wouldn't say thats a small feat, yeah Vergo broke his sword, but it was totally an even fight.
I am however still in favor that Sanji could well still be 3rd in the crew but his level is exponentially lower than from Luffy to Zoro.

I agree with your sentiment but in the manga/anime world these injuries seem to be inconsequential. "The dude just has this amazing willpower to keep on fighting/running/doing whatever that he just ignores the pain!"
