It would be incredibly poor writing for him to die like that. I mean there was no build up or anything. I doubt anyone actually felt anything from his "death". No suspense or anything.
Wasn't there all that crap to do with levi writing a letter to do with everyone being dead and what not so I imagine there will be alot more of these style deaths.(Side note but Laxus and co going to help fight Zirconis is gonna end up with all of em naked with mira and wendy no? Could be amusing)

I hope this becomes Fairy Tail's Ace moment. This could really impact a lot of characters, especially Juvia, who has become very one dimensional.

I effing hate Juvia. She's supposed to damn near S-class but she can't cast a freaking spell for constantly pining about Gray. I imagine she'll get super pissed, go all bat shit crazy and badass for a chapter or two, then time travel shenanigans, Gray will come back, Juvia will go back to being a worthless cheerleader.
I mean, I'd kinda like it if Gray stayed dead if for no other reason than it's about time we actually killed somebody off. But I doubt it'll happen.

Yeah, I agree with you there about Juvia. She had so promise back in the Phantom arc, but now she's become a caricature, a filler character.

Gray was always kind of a boring character. After this I was the light dragon to die, seeing as how he already had his "character development". Maybe even catgirl? Oooh and have Ultear sacrifice herself to save someone else.

Gray is supposed to be close to S-class as well. And during their fight Juvia got smitten with him so she stopped fighting him remember?

Well they've only got to fight 7 dragons and they've got a all the dragon slayers assembled now. Natus has even made friends with one.

Gray is not S class, Erza, Laxus, Gildarts and Mirajane are the only S class
