BKB grants Spell Immunity and 100% Magical Damage. Some spells pierce Spell Immunity but still only Magical Damage (which is negated). Some spells deal non-Magical damage but don't pierce Spell Immunity. Sunray is the latter. | ||

There are two things that need to happen for an ability to damage through spell immunity: It needs to pierce spell immunity AND not be magical damage. | ||

Its pure but pure doesn't go through BKB. It just means its unmitigatable. It's all or nothing either it hits you for full damage or it does nothing with spell immunity. | ||
