Their style matched perfectly against eg and lgd, and they had a great few days playing very well.
I dont quite trust that they can keep it up and still win after thet have been analysed and figured out.
They also had the advantage of being quite likely dismissed by everyone as a contender and teams might have not prepared for them (as much). Teams had plenty of time to prepare for them. The problem is sometimes, in reality the preparations aren't enough. Shit happens in Dota. OG was the best team at TI without a question. There was a strong meta already and they couldn't remove all of OGs comfort picks and leave dangerous meta hero in the pool either. Same reason pass TI winners won. The winners usually have some insane drafting advantage. Wings were impossible to ban. EG made CDEC waste bans on techies and weren't afraid of the most broken hero at the meta Lesh. Liquid forced Newbee to ban every single GH hero and it wasn't enough. LGD had to deal with all the strong meta heros and then OGs spec and Topsons random heros. OG and all the other teams had to adapt to meta that was changing as the days went on. OG were more unorthodox and ignored a lot of meta trends and won.
I think lgd was the best team actually, but they choked against a team that had nothing to lose and never gave up. I don't think og can be compared in the same vein as past ti winners in wings or eg, because they look beatable and mortal.
I respect og though (or any team) that puts full faith in their playstyle and ignoring the meta. Teams definitely were under prepared to deal with the unorthodox timings that og was throwing at them.

They look like that because of their drafts that are designed to come back from a deficit

OG, the most decorated dota team that there ever was, having won 2 valve majors in their worst years, and still it's the same tune
It was luck! They didn't really win the right way! Next time it will be different!
Over and over again...

So the bois in blue will be playing in some qualifiers soon, can't wait

NA qualifiers got weird again, the "Forward Gaming" team of Reso, Yawar, Unigod, MSS and SVG has potential, but outside of that there seems to be no other real threat again? PPD went to EU, Zai as well, CCNC stack playing in SA. Unless March's stack is very good i don't see any problems this season in getting to tournaments lol.

The new system with minors could really help the lesser teams improve they will face some good competition. So maybe later in season it will be harder.
|
For future major qualifiers, they could reduce the NA slots by 1 and give it to EU when OG returns, since ppd's stack went EU.
|
Yeah if things stay as is I doubt NA will keep the third slot

EG vs Fear in the NA quals! My heart's bleeding ...

I believe EG is already qualified?
Meanwhile, Liquid is out. @@

NA should just have 2 slots though not 3 i would accept that. This Forward Gaming squad has huge potential and could be a contender. Universe, Yawar and Reso as cores are great and MSS is also good. Guided by SVGesus and Aui, i think they could do damage.
Start of this finals in EG vs Forward Gaming is funny. MSS playing carry spectre whilst yawar is on CM. Sumail first item on Tiny meteor hammer and then he continues to throw all his team mate to death whilst they are ruptured xd

Gah when do we play again??

Should put EG in the echelon of Liquid, VP, LGD in the upcoming season
Zero american players.
