Who cares about mechanics. You can keep your flash mechanics in dota, give me my puppey game sense and I guarantee you will not win a single game against me.
In dota game sense>mechanics.
Let me put it otherwise, if a regular C bw player was somehow gifted flash's mechanics without his game sense though he would instantly transformed into a monster. He wouldn't be winning any proleagues any time soon but he would be top tier amateur, garbage tier pro.
If a 3k doto player was gifted burning's mechanical skills but still kept his game sense, he would still be 0-13 in regular 5k mmr games.
Apples and oranges my friend.
I have spoken.

Hey I just opened my level 180 present, and i received another rare. I think I have opened 7 of these now and they are always rares. I was just wondering if anyone knew the drop rates for the mythical presents you get from leveling up? I am pretty sure you should be able to get mythical items from them but I am giving up hope!

There tons of players even at the pro level with high levels of mechanics and rather mediocre game understanding; just look at TC for example

It doesn't matter what level his game sense is, it's still an established player's game sense, thus tons better than a 3k scrub's. My argument still holds.

This is a player well-documented for using dotabuff win rates and counters as a drafting guideline. That's no different than a bw player with flash level mechanics that followed builds off of sc2gg

i got a legendary speed demon the last time i opened my present

You well and totally missed the point, lmao.
I said give mechanics to a newb player and let him keep his game sense. And you bring up as a paradigm, TC who is an established player. Yeah his game sense is kinda lacking compared to other pros, but he's a god compared to 3k players.

Yeah his game sense is kinda lacking compared to other pros, but he's a god compared to 3k players. yea but if you give something like a tinker to someone who has 0 mechanics he can have all the game sense in the world and he's still going to accomplish nothing. I think it's a pointless argument because as you play dota you acquire both game sense and mechanical skills at a different but steady pace. I get what you mean, but such extremes don't really exists so it's kinda w/e.

Your point is that a player with good mechanics that is devoid of game sense can't play the game at a high level. There is no proof that TC with horrible mechanics would be any better than 3k

u should all stop posting about this now

Looks like a cool read. it is sci-fic/high medieval fantasy about a torturer (he works killing people, basically the law sends he the guy and and order and his guild is responsible to application of the punishment).
the best thing about gene wolfe is that he is very smart and the series aren't just about a strange world and epic tales, he really cares about the human side of the character and to build a strong story well wrote
Like, even though you can say that, Harry potter is a good series about fantasy you can't say that the author (I don't remember her name) really cares about the structure or about the prose. Gene Wolfe is the opposite, you could call the story kind shitty, but because is really well writed really worth it.
I don't know if it will help in anyway, but I'm not good with reviews without spoiler and writing in english is even worse.
Anyways, if you are a Neil Gaiman fan you might want to read this: http://www.sfsite.com/fsf/2007/gwng0704.htm

So you are basically saying that TC has a sketchy game sense not only compared to pros but to 3k random pubbies. Ok. You just believe your bias mate.

im pretty sure tc has a better game sense than most people at 5k (worse than mine tho im amazing)

I can see where oo_Wonderful_oo's point comes from, though. In League animations and turn rates are short/non-existent and there's a lot more "spammable" things so playing out the game tends to use a lot more pure reaction/execution. DotA has certain limiters built into the game mechanics (animations, turn speed, etc.) and slower cooldowns on higher-value spell effects, which means execution is heavily reliant on an understanding of how these mechanics work rather than pure reactions/muscle memory/etc.
In really broad terms, I guess this is generalizing LoL towards an arcade-style fighting game, whereas Dota2 is being represented by clocked chess? Seems fair, loosely, in that my comparison is equally unfair to both
I hear you on the discussion being pointless, though. Dota "mechanics" have to be evaluated on a per-hero basis, and then it gets really hazy differentiating between decisionmaking and execution I.E. my TA mechanics are not automatically good even if my Puck mechanics are. While it's still not true in LoL (Your Cassio isn't automatically as good as your Ryze / Annie / Lux ) I could definitely consider it closer to true because lack of deny means the lane mechanics don't change as much. You still have the same basic toolset for controlling the wave, just in different forms. So dota mechanics tie in to decisionmaking and confuse the whole thing, whereas LoL is easier to see a player for their skill in mid isolated from their mechanical skill isolated from their skill on an individual champion.
My LoL knowledge is super dated though. I think riot's been releasing more mechanically challenging champions in the last year or so... I.E. I really doubt I could hop on Jayce and be just as strong as my Cait was. Plus there's a spider in there somewhere that I saw on a twitch stream and it made me go ????? wat dis ting do ?????
Also my gamesense is 2.5k and my mechanics are 2k, yet I'm 3.8k. Explain THAT.
