There was a thread in website suggestions for rewarding quality posters with a blue background, somebody needs to give Shikyo a white background.
Shikyo did not make this thread entertaining, if anything I always had a minor headache whenever he posted something--anything.
Kinda makes me want to use firefox again just so I can use the TL block feature. But that browser is just so bad and laggy.

Not even counting the fact that most people around me play LoL :-/
Now if only more people considered this outlook on e-sports.... and then extrapolate that onto an outlook into life. Good stuff NB!
Shikyo made this thread horrendous....how was that entertaining Heh_? Those last 10-20 pages made 4chan look good by comparison. I don't advocate bickering, take that to PM's. Although if there is enough interest make a thread in Sports & Games "1 vs 100" with Shikyo being the 1. (Just an example).

I mean, if you don't take him too seriously, his posts were pretty funny. Maybe it's just me, but I had fun (sometimes) watching the back-and-forth arguments.

Part of that is your problem. Why are you pushing a tower when 4 enemy heroes are missing especially if you know the low skill pub mentality is to gank train a Brood ? Put spiderlings around your area and farm safely in jungle till an opportunity to push arises. On October 09 2012 04:24 PrinceXizor wrote: Eternal Envy especially is very very good. his support won games alone pretty frequently. wat... point 1. Yeah i know that, thats why i wasn't pushing blindly into towers, i WAS spending most of my time farming the jungle, when they were all in lanes i'd go to tower then see 2+ tps on the tower i'm pushing, as well as another lane leaving to come to me, i pressure until the tp's come in then leave and get out, but the second people started leaving lanes, my entire team went from lane to our jungle to split our jungles farm 4 ways. >.<. i died relatively little (once to a lone druid who kept me perma-entangled which was really unfortunate) I had taken out the t3 on my lane before the rest of my team had even taken t1's it was just like they thought pushing was bad. >.< i was by far the most farmed player on my team because of how bad they were. >.< just kinda sucks when that was the mentality my team had. and if you watched the ESWC matches eternalenvy was going nuts those games making huge plays.
This is my experience with broodmother in a lot of pubs. You lane, push towers when too many people leave. Then your carry tps up into your lane even though you pushed two towers to try to farm, while the rest of your team abandons their lanes and farm in your own jungle.
Pubs are too passive to punish people for trying to go after brood.

How are you suppose to play batrider anyway? He is one of the heroes that nobody really seems to be able to play well in my games and I never see him in pro games really.

Check dota1 games for batrider.

I don´t know, Shikyo wasn´t all bad. He wasn´t top of the line either. Many of the things he said were mediocre or good way way back. Battlefury Dusa for example is more outdated than bad, there was a time when Demon edge was an awful item for its cost(less damage than crystalis, 2700 gold). Yeah his tone is most of the time "I´m knowledgeable" instead of "I have an unusual idea". I´m running out of arguments here, so let´s say I find it cute how he shares everything he ever thinks of. Makes me less afraid to get flak for my posts(if I happen to have the wrong opinion).

batrider do best if you jungle with him. He could farm a 11 min tranquil + dagger + sobi mask and should be around level 8-9 then. On lane its quite different: you either gamble with an early boot and hope for a first blood(need support disable + no disable on enemy team + bad hero turn rate) OR spam nalpalm and last hit. Batrider is like TA, only effective and shine once you put level and farm into him, as a support he is quite crap.

Firefly deals 360dmg at lvl 1 with a 22 second wait between casts.. then is stacking napalm even worth it? If you stack napalm on 1 camp, can you stack the pull camp at the same time?
So how do you jungle him?

Don't jungle with Batrider. Yes, you can do it and he's quite decent at it given shitty Dota2 neutral AI. However, he's an exceptional solo mid hero. Napalm makes getting last hits ridiculously easy with the additional damage added to your basic attack. You can straight up kill many enemy mid solos with a few stacks of Napalm and then Firefly. Additionally, enemy mid lane solos will be picking up Bottle before anything else, allowing you to get "free" stacks of Napalm in. Even with Magic Sticks/Wands Napalm coupled with Firefly kills things quickly. Batrider can dive enemy mids by simply keeping the wave pushed, then using Firefly without autoattacking (or just time your attacks carefully based on tower aggression patterns). You don't need Boots if the enemy doesn't have a disable (Napalm slow is relatively low but stacks directly with each successive cast), and if he/she does have a disable you can go in once said disable is on cooldown--for instance, Rubick with the 18 second cooldown on Telekinesis and Invoker with the 20 second cooldown on Cold Snap.
Against other strong mid solos such as Queen of Pain, you can still compete for last hits quite easily. Despite Batrider having only a range 375 attack, Napalm has 700 cast range and just one level 1 stack will give you +10 damage for last hitting. With a base damage averaging 50 at level 1, you will not be denied. In pubs, Batrider destroys many "pub" solo mids, especially with his high base strength and the increased strength growth. Storm Spirit goes down, melee heroes such as Tiny can't even move in, Shadow Fiend hate Batrider with a passion, and Pudge can't fight since he'll be taking both Rot damage as well as amplified Firefly damage.
In short, take Batrider and go mid. Life is exceptionally easy. Occasionally, Batrider has also been run as a solo offlaner. He's not great at that, but once you Firefly enemies are not going to be chasing through the flame trail unless they're sure they can kill you in one burst. In a regular pub dual lane, you can easily kill enemies with a support.
Jungle Batrider suffers from similar problems that jungle Storm Spirit does. You're going to be taking a decent amount of damage when you fly over enemy creep camps. If you don't stack Napalm, you're not going to kill anything but the easy camps. Therefore, level 2 is pretty much required to have both Napalm and Firefly. Yes, you can do the whole "I'm going to kill the easy camp and then stack the pull camp before pulling it to get to level 2", but in pubs how often do the people in lane deward a blocked pull? At higher levels, once your enemies find out that you're jungling, they will just come in and kill you. You'll be at relatively low HP and Firefly will be either be on cooldown or won't be in effect for too much longer.
Simply put, Batrider is a ludicrously good laner, especially after the recent buffs. You can jungle with him, but why waste the excellent lane presence that the crazy man on a gigantic flying mammal gives?

When flamewheel posts something that's longer than 1 word, the answer is awesome. Thanks for the great explanation!

I'd like to add though that at later levels, a poorly-performing Batrider can disappear into the jungle and come out with levels and items easily. Napalm & Firefly allow you to kill three camps in one go.

Yayyyyyyy Flamewheel! Yeah.....please don't jungle with Batrider. Leave that to the actual jungle heroes!
