The bet: Pride and glory (and $100 bet). The rules: We will replay the scenario (one full-health Marine with Stim and range against one burrowed full-health Lurker) ten times. If he is above 75% success rate after these ten attempts, he will win the prize. If he is below, he has the option to continue indefinitely until he is above a 75% success rate. Once he concedes, he will lose.

Will it be done on bnet or what? Having low latency must be pretty important for trying this.
On those micro tournament ums maps it is 2 rines vs 1 lurk and I still can't usually do it but i rationalize that it's due to lag because all you do is shoot, then move really quickly, and repeat right?
edit: You don't even need stim at all but i guess it helps, and i'm guessing it could be done without rine range but it'd be even harder.
Seriously this isn't that hard, I actually have a few semi-instruction semi-brag VODs lying around of me doing this. It should be an easy $100. The only hard part is that you NEED every stim possible so you can't get hit once or you're fucked.
That clip made me realize that it's actually harder than I thought it would be ^^ ofc it's doable yeah, but looks hard to me. The trick seems to be to keep the maximum distance, and timing obviously... Good luck Zulu, I'm hoping for vods :D
People who are saying they can do it... I have my serious doubts. Yea, you can do it once, but can you do it eight times out of 10? You have to move back and forth over twenty times per attempt without getting hit once. The idea is simple but the execution is not
To be fair, the guy doing it in that video really fucking sucks at it. That's some seriously inefficient movement and that lurker could die much faster.
There are some questions which significantly influnce the difficulty. Gamespeed? Latency? Upgrades? Stimpack,Uranium-Bullet upgrade? Lurker burrowed or not?
If only the rine is upgraded and you are not stimming, you should be able to survive 2 hits.
In my oppinion it's easier without stim ><. Then it's just shoot once, move until lurker fires, HP, shoot once, move back etc etc. That way you don't have to think about lurker cooldown, which is difficult for non terran players (atleast me lol). Gogo, you can do it ZN, just practice a couple of hours and it should be easy easy. Oh btw on the map posted back in the thread there is one tiny spot where the marine outranges the lurker lol. I wonder if that is a general glitch, it would sure make the challenge easier haha.
I think the hardest part of doing it correctly is the restim. I can get a sense for the time it takes the lurker to attack, but not how long before stim runs out. But all is not lost, the marine will still have 10hp left if you miss the restim :p
I thought it was going to be easy but I guess I totally suck. Just tried it now and couldn't get the damn 8/10. I got 7/10 twice. For 100$ i'd run it a few more times so 8/10 shouldn't be too much.

well I certainly underestimated the difficulty of this micro, and I definitely made an ill-advised brag. I would however like to try it again without the stream/lag to see if I can do better than I did. The lag was just a slight delay every 15 seconds or so, it didn't affect every try.
Although props to Zulu for paying, stop crying about Chill being fucking funny. You got the balls to bet and play I admit, but have some balls and just accept the criticisms. Chill is just fucking awesome, started making Tl.Net awesome again, after Mani left, and fakesteve becoming busy and all.
