4chan drama happens again! This time it's all focused around an 11 year old girl named Jessi Slaughter, who posted a Youtube video a while ago that went viral. Her account is gone now due to "violation of terms of use" (or something), but I'm pretty sure you can find it online anyway through various repostings and such. Anyway, she pretty much threw some pretty crazy insults at the internet, including the time honored "Get AIDS and die".
Original video:
4chan reacted pretty damn hard to that, and started doing their thing - ordering tons of pizzas to her home, prank calls, e-mails, etc, etc. Soon after, she posted another video:
And then the media started picking up the story... First up was Gawker, with this post.
In response, 4chan launched a DDoS attack against Gawker's site, and although it failed the first day, they were able to slow down the site on the second day (it's fine now I think).
The guy who wrote the original post about the 4chan harassment wrote a rather snide post bashing 4chan's failure, which you can find here.
4chan has thus shifted gears, and is now attacking the top brass of the Gawker news crew, with spam e-mails and the like. Gawker's reaction is here.
Just this morning, Good Morning America ran a story on this, and... well... you know 4chan. They're at it again. They got ahold of the information of the person who did the story, Parry Aftab, and they're currently running a DDoS attack on her website: www.aftab.com/ (unreachable right now if you're wondering).
The thread with Perry Aftab's personal information is already maxed out though, so I'm sorry you can't find it anymore .
Oh 4chan drama~ Always being explosive for a day then dying off again...
WATCH HER VIDEO ADRESSED TO HER HATERS THAT WAS POSTED BEFORE THE ONE OF HER CRYING BEFORE YOU MAKE JUDGEMENT. I FELT BAD AT FIRST TOO BUT THEN HER HATERZ VIDEO MADE ME RAAAAAAGE.
I was in the original "you rage you lose" thread that started this whole mess, it was pretty lulzy. Also she was on stickam on the 20th and said "I'll take any fame I can get". This is a case of bad parenting if anything!
I dont get it. WHY do they do this? And how? Is it like some global overmindish collective where whenever someone says something they don't like they attack the offender. I mean, this is an 11 YEAR OLD GIRL! How does a place like 4chan even exist. -.-.
FFS, you cant blame the parents... If I punch a kid that´s walking in my way that´s not her own fault or her parents fault for not educating her not to walk in my way, it´s my fault for punching her. -..-
EDIT2: I think it's sad that the parents are blaming the media. It's their own damned fault for not parenting their daughter right.
ml: As a mother, what have you learned from all of this?
DL: I am still trying to take this all in. I can't believe this is happening. My daughter is an only child -- she was our miracle child, because I had cervical cancer and was told I couldn't have children. Then, on two years to the date of my recovery, I wasn't feeling well and found out I was pregnant. I can't be in the same room with her 24/7 and I am trying to explain to her what's going on. It's been very difficult because I don't understand what's going on -- I don't even know what these videos show and I don't want to view them. I am upset enough. I have been throwing up and I haven't been able to eat or sleep since this all started last week.
Also if any of yall were on /b/ this morning it was amazing, everyone had this facade of a friendly nice community, all porn and graphic material was instantly deleted, and a "proper etiquette" newspost was made. Its funny how fast the community caught on!

Well, who exactly was it that let an eleven year old kid post youtube videos like that? Parents should keep track of what their kids are doing online.
4chan is basically a country located in the internet, it's really surprising that they can mobilize so many forum-goers at a "time of crisis" like this. Waiting for NK to insult 4chan so that 4chan can disable all of their military systems..

If an 11 year old wants to "pop a glock in your mouth and make a brain slushie", then so be it xD.

Saw her "haterz" video. Glad this girl is off the internet. Maybe her parents will realize they're raising her wrong now. Not a fan of how far 4chan takes things, but hopefully something positive will come from this.

As much as I hate the girl, I must blame her parents. Even after this ordeal, she was allowed on the internet until the police intervened on the situation.
I'm not gonna go as far as she deserved it because she's still a kid, but I hope she and her parents take a lesson in this. I don't feel bad for her at all, and holy shit her language is FOUL LOL. This girl needs to change her attitude and the little brat got phased LOLZ

She's an 11 year old dude.... stuff like this can mess her life up. Seriously, people from 4chan need to calm down and stop spamming everyone who they make fun of. But dang her parents need to seriously whip her into shape.
All that this proves is that you do not want to insult the wrong people. For all we know, one of the 'haterz' that she apparently wanted to make brain slushie of is a /b/tard and started this whole thing. This is his/her sweet revenge.
There are a lot of things wrong with 4chan and I stopped visiting because of them, but putting ignorant or stupid people in their place is not one of them.
@"Stuff like this can mess her life up" Getting pizza delivered to your door can do that to you? If anything, this is a reminder of two good rules: Don't leave personal information on the internet if you want to keep it private, and don't go randomly insulting and threatening people.
I don't really have any sympathy for that girl. Jesus christ, shes 11yrs old and shes talking like that? (and the other stuff, starting from using those horrible webcam sites..) Her parents have failed miserably raising a daughter.
Is this girl serious? Even as an 11 year old maphacker on gamethreat I had more sense than she had. I frequent /g/ and /a/ occasionally for laughs and most of the "OMG GUYS ATTACK and ANON IS LEGIUN" stuff isn't serious, so despite what this person has done I'm surprised at at what has actually happened.

Fucking serious? So some trolls got to her, she cried, her dad raged, and now she's victim. People need to get over it, there were trolls, she fed them hard, and she got bitten back.

an eye for an eye and the whole world goes blind
If people learn from their mistakes, people would walk around with one eye. Enough to see, but with a constant reminder of their fuck-up.
well it's the fault of the dying generation of illiterate internetopians imo.
although she may just be a victim, her ignorance of simple things like, privacy laws and 'REALID' implications that are connected to her RL home/family/phone got her in over her head with trolls and/or actual predators.
if her father knew better (as i would when i'd have my own kids) i'd at the very very VERY least inform my children of the implications of e.g. getting your wallet stolen. you can be framed for a crime, your identity, credit cards, health cards, social insurance numbers etc... and i'd tell her the same applies over the internet.
NOW although cases happen where there actually is a predator involved and a hacker, that actually steals/coerces your information out of you. that would be the absolute time where-in i'd tell my child that a crime has been committed and he/she should let the authorities take over.
in this case, i feel extremely sorry for her. but my inner nerd demon is LOL'ing at her crying and her family threatening the 'predator' because she didn't know better. although this could honestly be the case of hacker and not a case of stupidly revealing 'REALID' it makes you wonder whether or not their was a motive behind the 'attack' because e.g. the attacker is a predator or just lol a troll (which are honestly similar).
I'm fine with sending pizzas and shit like that, so long as they don't do anything more "serious". She needs to show her parents her "HATERZ" video and they'll see how bad a job they did at parenting T_T
If she hadn't threatened to stick a Glock in my mouth and make a BRAIN SLUSHIE maybe I'd feel some sympathy. She made a death threat, so she gets them in return. Fair is fair.

this wasn't the sole reason 4chan attacked jessi. Long story short, she had been posting noodz of herself on the internets, which, at age 11, counts as child porn. 4chan decided they wanted to put a stop to this (clearly for the lulz, not because of any moral obligation)

4chan peeps are trying to get that point across lol by sending the "naughty" pics she posted online to her parents, but nothing has come out of it.

This girl needs help and reality check before it's too damn late. It's like shes being tormented and bringing more on herself. Let her be, and for goodness sake get her away from any drama/youtube.
lol The girl was incredibly stupid to do something like that in the first place, sorry I don't really feel sorry for her. Her parents are pretty stupid for letting her be so reckless on the internet in the first place though.
This girl is clearly a moron but isn't taking the fight to real life a step too far? By all means, troll this bitch off of the interwebs forever, but sending stuff to their house, etc is too much.

theres no "too much" or "too far"
theres no "off limits"
there is only anonymous fucking everything it can until they find something else more troll worthy or get bored.

Personally I think this girl deserves every bit of what she's getting. First of all, her initial video was absolutely stupid and then she made the mistake of going on to feed the trolls and keep it alive by posting a video in response to their actions. If she had just learned her lesson and stayed quiet, this would have all gone away quickly and this would have all faded into obscurity rather than becoming a news story. The internet has a way of suffering from ADD...

You're right. She needed to learn that there are consequences for her actions. But at the same time she's only 11, and it is the 4chanesque culture that leads to girls thinking videos like this are appropriate in the first place. The response is just way, way, way out of proportion and I don't think anyone actually believes that 4chan is looking out for this girl's well being. A simple letter to her parents with a link to the video would have been an actual well intentioned use of her address, not sending her pizza and hookers and threatening her family.

Funny thing is that you could be contributing to 4chan for all I know.
I keep forgetting how much damage 4chan can do when they mass together. They spend most of their time being complete morons though so these are few and far between.
They are both the internet's detectives and the asshole of the internet. I like to think of them as a force of nature that once you start, you can't stop. On one hand I am scared of them and disapprove of a lot of things they do but on the other hand I am in awe of what they have done. It's like showing respect to something that can basically destroy you if it wanted to.
So you provoked a bunch of people that shouldn't have provoked, now you're running for help? Gee I wonder how many times this has played out on so many different levels in the history of mankind.
So no, 4chan isn't responsible for this culture, this is just a direct extension of dumb shit you don't do in real life on the internet.
This nothing compared what a forum (who's name escapes me right now) did to a kid who ripped off one of their members over shoes. Pizza, magazine subscriptions, military recruiters, and God knows what else.
To be honest, I watched the first video of her and... wow, what a mouth on her. I honestly have no sympathy for her, regardless of the fact that she's only 11. I work with snotty, stuck-up kids like this all the time, and I wonder if her dad ever saw that first video. Do her parents honestly allow her to act like that towards them?

Mostly, though, they are large number of forum users posting gore, porn and recycled image macros. There's a ruling subculture that they are somehow some kind of vigilante force on the internet (see "anonymous is legion" stuff for examples), and naturally, any sufficiently tech-savvy, malicious, unmoderated and anonymous community can be.
It's kind of like everyone on digg.com being atheist "scientists" and "designers". Perhaps only 1% of them are atheist out of choice/reason, the other 99% try to fit in with the stereotype. Only 5% are actually graphic designers, the other 95% have downloaded copies of Photoshop and called it a day. Similarly, 5% of /b/ know what a DDoS even is, the other ones just spout some random bullshit on how they will never forget, never forgive and how epic/lulzy everything is.

The Internet's not the only place with stupid people. For instance, she could have learned it from her parents (which is my personal suspicion), from school, from family friends. We don't really know enough about the situation, so it's really all just speculation.
At first I thought it was a bit much. On second thought not really. Pranks are annoying I guess. No, I most certainly am not trolling. Of course, my response is primarily to her first video, just acting like an idiot in front of virtually everyone in the world for no good reason. You can't tell me that anyone under the age of 18 needs the internet to live for any reason. If they weren't allowed online, sure they wouldn't have access to educational information, but that's what books are for. Some people even still use those things. It would, however, cut down on minors camwhoring themselves, and just being generally annoying. You really won't be able to convince me that a minor needs to partake in such mass communication before the age of 18.
However, I could be convinced that a *person* of any age could be permitted to joining the internet after successful completion (80% or higher) of an exam consisting of reading comprehension, spelling, and common netiquette.

or we could just leave it how it is and continue to expect parents to take responsibility for the things parents should be taking responsibility for, rather than deprive various groups of people of something useful that could help them grow.
Normally im pretty netural on this kinda stupid stuff, but honestly she was asking and deserved it. What kind on stupid 12 year old goes and post idiotic videos of themselves on the internet? And for that matter what kind of stupid parents let her do that?
Parents giving kids freedom and all that is good... but if you child is going to do something stupid, then take it away.

Well, I can't argue that this incident could, very well, help this young girl grow in the sense that she will learn that, contrary to popular belief, she is not, in fact, perfect in every way, shape, and form. I can't argue that her parent's won't most likely grow in the sense that they may very well monitor their daughter's behavior and activity online. However, I can't agree that the internet played no role whatsoever in her becoming the way she is already. Her ego had to get inflated somehow, and I find it hard to believe that she is so incredibly popular in whatever middle school she attends that she worships herself, and believes that she is the epitome of epicness.
Damn, that little girl is psychotic. That first video was just the most moronic thing I've ever seen. People actually watch that crap on youtube and shit? In the second video, you can see how retarded the father is with his super overreaction and attempt to intimidate pplz on the int3rwebz. I imagine that just fueled the 4chan fire.
After thinking about this, I really think it's inappropriate for young kids to be using the internet so early. They are too susceptible to all the stupid crap that's floating around here and cannot look at it in context. Those comments of "get aids and die," "paper cutting dicks and clits" and "im no poser" are just something that a child should not take too seriously, and as we all know are way too prevalent in the internet. I mean she probably still believes in santa clause and shit. Parenting just got harder in the 21st century and they should take appropriate action in educating/protecting their children to the influences of the internet.

I really think you guys are underestimating the intelligence of that community. It would be incredibly stupid for them to do that. But whatever.
I agree. There wouldn't be very many lulz in attacking teamliquid, especially considering that compared to 95% of all internet forums, this is a very intellectual environment.
Careful with the word intellectual. . But I do agree this is one of the better places.

Its a sign of TL's mod ability when I honestly believe they could handle this.

j3j3j3j3 ANYTHING about Farmville ought to be NOT newsworthy. Seriously, FARMING as a GAME? Who are they kidding among gamers?
Currently the number one ranked boardgame in existence. Food for thought;)
i was more worried about DDoS than forum trolling. 4chan is essentially Fight Club on the internet. we are legion>>>"his name is robert paulsen"
but 4chan has actually done good they find kids who make bomb threats, report people who post cp, and even shut down ahmadinejad's campaign website and made a concerted effort to disrupt his rigged elections in any way possible. 4chan are more like the footsoldiers of anonymous most of it originates on 7chan and other various /i/ websites.

Basically anything school related is online now. So, there is around 75 % of ppl under the age of 18 that NEED the internet.
Don't be ignorant, just because your above 18 now, you don't have to worry about restraints upon "minors"
We should only let minors be able to walk around and eat drink or sleep? There is a reason for alcohol, driving, and voting restrictions. Not for NO internet use under 18, lulwut.
Also, how would one enforce "no internet til 18" It's not like children pay for their internet...

I am majoring in Computer Science, and going for my Master's degree. Don't you think I know how the internet is an integral part of education, and the modern world? However, you can never convince me that people under the age of 18 NEED the internet in order to get their education. I pay $1000+ for books each semester, when I understand full well that they could EASILY be put online. So the printed word is not dead yet. They could get everything they need to know from books. And I never proposed, nor claimed it to be possible that an 18+ law to be enforced. All I stated was that that is how it should be.
You know this is going to be such a valuable piece of life to her later on down the road. Because when she is 18 and it seems like she has nothing going for her.. she can put down how she was trolled to hell by an internet mob on her college applications. Hell she will even have a 7 year old video she can link. Colleges love sob stories
Well, boardgames are different; they're tactical like Settlers of Catan; and SimFarm didn't have that monstrosity called Facebook to suck the time from your parents, not to mention that it didn't have the LOL Achievement mentality of Farmville.

serious, and if you're a real samurai, you'll take your life for such insolence. She's Perfect for pete sake. and all you guys are such haters, i find that she's quite well spoken at 11 years of age
Why is this news? A child acts retarded then people emotionally fuck with her, than screw with her family for no other reason than enjoyment.
To anyone laughing at this, yes, you are in fact, an asshole. Having sympathy for a child saying something stupid, isn't something that should be thought about, it should be natural. Congratulations on being psychopath's that enjoy seeing other people hurt.
I'm not going to debate with you, or anyone in this thread for that matter, if you think this is funny, you're screwed up mentally.
I have a question, what would happen if 4chan tried to attack TL? We have a lot of new banling mods, and I don't know if they've all been with the community for very long. All it would take would be one mod going hostile and banning everyone and removing their comments no? Or are there supermods to prevent that who have the server side access? Eg. Nazgul
In addition we could be hit with a wave of spam, the server would go down for a while if too many people tried to visit. Are there backups in place?

it'd be a short book... "They sent pizzas to my house!!! and called me names!!!and made a lot of empty threats!!! i cried for a few days and the end."
