I wish this were as easy as OSL nights, where it's simple to get a great stream and enjoy.
I was really looking forward to this group too. -_-;;
|
Looks like its going to be VODs only for these MSL groups.
|
its on daum, but its not worth watching cus of the horrible lag

I miss Corinthos

Yeah sorry I don't have anything to provide just yet, but if a korean translator has any interest in helping me with a few things, I know enough now of how Corinthos did what he did, so send me a PM and I might be able to make some magic things happen
|
This is so retarded. Why are they restricting the MSL so much for people outside Korea. Sooooo stupid.

I'm just watching the slideshow on Daum Player. My stream skipped forwards a bit, and now forgg has a tank, some marines, + vultures and mines in stork's base, while stork defends with his shuttle/reaver
|

From what I gather from the stream:
Stork elevates 3 goons into the main. All SCVs clump together to attack. THEN he drops the reaver. Next image shows 3 SCVs left :x

soo miserable...
Thanks for the LR guys. Keep it coming.

Sea clears it out with tanks and golies and positions more tanks near go.gos natural defended by mines. It looks like Sea has the army advantage
|
Netherlands6142 Posts
Build for gogo involved CC at same time as rax
He seems to be in the lead now, two expansion and sieged up on a cliff near Sea's nat.
|
It looks like go.go. should win. BO advantage and then some good harass.
Sea's playing horrible these days.
|
Drop from go.go. on Sea's 3rd. But Sea had mines for early detection and the drop failed.
Still, go.go with massive dropship advantage and about to go up 4 bases to 3. But at least Sea's still in it for a while.
|
Go.Go holds two more expos than Sea but Seas vultures run into an undefended one. Im watching a slide show so yeah.
|
w00t for Potplayer slideshowww.
|
Sea has expanded again and is making progress pushing toward 5 o clock
|
looks like a pretty decive battle could happen Sea has a big force to attack 5 where go.go has 2 bases. Go.Go with a couple tanks and 4 drops ships ready for defence
|
Sea taking the expansion right outside go.go's base. Has his tanks seiged and taking out some buildings on the edge.
Some skirmishes, but Sea seems to be coming back. But not sure because it's buffering so bad. But I hope I'm right for Sea's sake.
Wow, massive wraith switch from gogo.
|
Looks like go.go managed to hold him off and now has 4 starport making wraith
|
|
|
|
|
Its over. Im guessing go.go won.
|
Huge drop onto Sea's main. Sea can't hold, ggs.
Wow, I think there were like 20 wraiths unused by gogo at the end.

What does cheesing have to do with anything? Bisu 2-gated against Jangbi in the MSL finals. I was pissed, but I don't hold anything against him.
I'm not sure if Stork cheesed because he's not in his best shape, or if he had a hot date later on and wanted to get the games over with. Either way, he still 2-0ed his group.

Because stork's cheese is really strongest and he feel he dont really need to play a macro game in 2 player map PvT. His sticy zealot micro is hard to stop even for top 10 kespa player.

the stream was very laggy what I can say about the game in general is that sea was behind in expos the entire game, tried to turtle and make 200/200 of bcs, however forGG had more option to counter the strat because of his better eco, established mapcontrol with his dropships, loaded bunch of golies in them and with 1controlgroup of wraiths or so destroyed seas air force

People's issue was that Bisu really didn't deserve to be in the OSL. Given the circumstances, (a player dropping out due to injury) it's fine, but alot of people were just mad because if the OSL was a "normal OSL" Bisu would have dropped out due to his bad play.
Stork can cheese all he wants if he thinks it'll get him out of the groups.
Not liking Stork cheesing and not liking Bisu getting a miracle second shot at the OSL are two completely different things.

If this OSL had been a "normal OSL", not a single one of the twelve players who competed yesterday would have gotten a second chance. People were not complaining about how awful it was that there was a wildcard competition in the first place. They were complaining about the fact that one particular player was in it.
At any rate, it looks like I might have inadvertently brought yesterday's flame war to this thread as well, so I'll stop.

If he uses a cheese against Jangbi, people call him cheesy n00b. If he plays standard and owns 6 matches in a row, people call him boring. And IDK what is the problem with the Bisu fanboyism. Everybody is a fanboy in his own right. IDK if a Stork fan is always rational,or a JD fan,or a Sea fan, whoever. So I don't get why is everybody flaming Bisu for getting the opportunity. If Sea had won, nobody would have flamed. Also people complain about how Bisu is lucky and everything. Well, one MSL can be luck. But three? And another final. And he was once in the best of four in the OSL. Beside that, how can you reach 2300 ELO by being lucky? So yeah,I know,Bisu qualifying in the OSL after all is luck. But flaming him 70 pages and for everything and nobody saying about Stork a word is another thing.

If the same thing happened with another player I would have my thoughts concerning it and they wouldnt be much different than my thoughts concerning Bisu advancing. Which is just that he was lucky Backho dropped out. I don't hate the guy, or even object to him being in the OSL. It'll be a better OSL with Bisu than Backho.
I was just annoyed at that one dudes stupid "wow worthy of a samsung player" comment and obvious attempt to passively aggresively piss people off. Stork cheesing has nothing to do with Bisu and their situations/haters come from completely different things.

Of course Bisu deserved it. But are you guys going to turn around and do the same thing to Stork? In that case, Bisu antifans and Stork antifans deserve eachother.

Indeed. A sad day for Seakind...

Why Stork is King acorn? )

man I knew Forgg would advance but somewhere deep on the inside I really wanted Sea to win... so I voted Sea No clue why I like Sea so much, I think he is my mancrush!
|
if you drop your first game to go.go you know youre F'd.
and they call Stork King Acorn because during the group selection magma called the 6 protoss dragons acorns, and said that stork was king acorn.

Yay Stork made it through!
I was worried that Stork was beginning to slump, but luckily he didn't slump last night. :D

I really would have liked to see Sea advance instead of Stork but...alas, it's a Starleague.
You have to wonder: is Sea now reaching the point in his career where his skill and motivation are no longer high enough for him to regularly qualify for Starleagues? He started so early that he might "burn out" faster - even though he's never lived up to his potential. Sort of a sad thought for Sea fans...I hope Sea's losses motivate him to practice harder, rather than give up because his nerves can't take the pressure of Starleague play.

...I don't get these sorts of posts. Do you think Starleagues should be decided by something other than game results? Yeah, let's play the MSL, but then instead of letting the players who won games advance, we'll let the players who "deserve to win" advance. Sea wins!
Why all the fOrGG hate? It's like people don't remember he beat Kal, Flash, and then JD to win a MSL...this guy is a monster, he most definitely "deserves" to be in this MSL.

The teamliquid attack sea did was really cool, too. To bad he hasn't really done well at all after that.

main reason prolly y people hate him.... he took away peoples dreams of the flash/jd finals AND he took away jaedongs victory that prolly would of escalated jaedong in2 bonjwa status imo. also the fact that TL loves sea and beating him doesnt help your cause....
but going allout hate like in this thread is beyond me...
edit: forgg beating JD is prolly equal to when mind best bisu in the finals b4... i gurantee if JD or bisu won those finals eitehr one would of been considered bonjwas....

Sea isn't really overrated. He is still one of the statistically best Terrans ever. Just these last few months he seems to be slumping. I'm sure he'll get out of it.

The statistics imply Sea should have trouble losing the games, and yet he usually goes 0-2.

Did anyone else laugh when they saw that gogo had 7 idle SCVs just lying around at his ramp for quite a while during the early -> mid game?

fOrGG fucking deserves his spot, screw Sea. fOrGG has proved already he can do something in a series and actually has a chance to win this.

Well, from what I gather from those fomos board translations, the koreans are just as bad. Anyways, I dunno if I'm speaking as a minority or a majority here but I just enjoy watching a good game of starcraft. I have some favourite players but I don't get up in arms over them. not fixed because that MSL was one of the hardest earned MSL's ever. if u beat sea in a bo3 and kal, flash, jd ALL in a bo5.... that says miles about your play skill and his ability.... totally deserves this spot

You guys fail if you don't realize Jaedong played horribly that day. Was a fluke that forGG got him on that day. Any other day and Jaedong would have won.

even if wht u say is true how does that explain his series vs sea, kal, and flash?

which was a smart idea considering flash 14cc'd every game i think.... seriously thou... if a player goes 14cc everygame wouldnt u play the same way forgg did?
thats another case where forgg prepared better than flash or was smarter....
edit: this is coming from a flash fan whos still to this day bitter about that series

True, Koreans can be worse. But i kind of let them go cause most of the Netizen that speak out are little kids 8-12 yrs old (Don't know if its the SC community, but the pop culture community are). Stupid kids that have too much time on their hands.
I just think we can tone it down a bit. I have my own group of "favorite players," but if they lose, then they lose. Why go around trying to start crap?

Too mean. =/ I changed my mind.
|
Guys, it's not a "fluke" Starleague win when you beat a top 4 (at the time, even now top 6) Protoss, best Terran, and best Zerg in consecutive BO5s.
ForGG played out of his mind in that MSL (I'm pretty sure he 3-1'd Flash and 3-0'd JD) and maybe he'll never play that well again but that doesn't change the fact that he won a Starleague and most definitely earned it.
|
On January 30 2009 09:56 TheNikeYork wrote: You guys fail if you don't realize Jaedong played horribly that day. Was a fluke that forGG got him on that day. Any other day and Jaedong would have won. lol, Jaedong was already have a lot of trouble with ZvT during that time. So many people were expecting him to get raped by Hwasin at the semifinals but he pulled out 2hatch muta and Hwasin got beat because he wasn't expecting it at all. His ZvT still wasn't back to how it used to be, and forGG probably had experience playing against Jaedong prior to the finals and he just ran over him.
The three maps that were played were all rather Terran favoured, according to stats as well. Jaedong played on some disadvantageous maps playing standard 3hatch muta which was considered pretty much "solved" at the time.
And the argument that "someone played horribly so the other person was just lucky" argument is fucking flawed as well. If you failed then you failed, nothing else. Your argument is retarded.
|
I don't think JD even played poorly in the MSL. ForGG just dismantled him.
Calling that MSL win a fluke could not be further from the fluke. I'm not even a fan of his, but I've rarely seen any player perform as well as ForGG did during that MSL run. He was absolutely superb.

ForGG is more legit than sea. He played amazing and deserved his MSL title, and he beat Sea yesterday. He deserves the spot over Sea, and is definitely more dangerous to have in the bracket (given how Sea plays in starleagues)

ForGG isn't considered a fluke anymore
When rabid Jaedong fans and Flash fans were arguing all over the interwebs on who is the better player and other fanbases were getting annoyed as fuck, ForGG came by and shut up Jaedong and Flash fans by 3:1 flash and 3:0 Jaedong
Hence the reason why whenever ForGG wins a game everyone in korea spams the forums with
"CONQUERED", "DESTROYED", "RUINNNNED"
|
Im as big a sea fan as anyone but I dont see the hate for forgg hes a good player and can put out exciting games. Im just sad sea lost to go.go, and then stork gaying his way through the group, but I suppose its to be expected the way hes playing lately.
I guess all sea can do is pray forgg falls down the steps again, you know how injury prone lecaf (or w/e they changed their name too) players are.
|
In the end, the 2 best players advanced. So all's well that ends well. Feel sorry for Sea, but he's been sucking a lot recently even beyond starleagues, so it was kind of expected.
As for ForGG, I think being on Lecaf really doesn't allow ForGG to shine. Not only does he have to play 2nd fiddle to Jaedong, he also doesn't show up every proleague match because Lecaf has 3 terrans to use. Plus he keeps meeting Stork(WCG Korea, MSL twice), which for most terrans is basically auto-loss. So he gets underrated because it seem like he hasn't done anything since his MSL win.

It sucks for Forgg not to have a Protoss practice partner on his team. I would love to see him play the way he played in Arena MSL. His play was fucking awesome. Especially that PvT series vs Kal, best PvT series I have ever seen with shitloads of fucked up shit and styles, especially the game on athena where Forgg does his wtf hax imba macro. Forgg is a pretty entertaining player. Now if only he goes back to bio play in TvP hell fix it up with his sick macro.

QFT.
I actually believe Stork's willingness to cheese is the sign of increased micro reliability, which means the kid is becoming more clutch and confident. Reminds me of that Bisu-Jangbi final with the reaver moment. If he can pull ez wins against ez opponents without breaking a sweat, then why not ?

Lol thats a nice spin there, his micro has always been good, so I dunno about confidence, he just wanted a quick and easy win thats all, Im sure he remembers how forgg almost beat his ass in the last MSL, so he wasnt take any chances. And I doubt he cares about fan's lowered respect or anything.
And yes, I meant forgg has backho to practice with, thank you for the correction, And again backho maybe hated and called a scrub but his PvT is pretty solid, even his PvP is ok, but his PvZ is horrible. Hes like some inverted protoss casy, minus the unit control and agression...uh I guess the comparison was only stastical.
