Massgaming does not make you win, natural sense and talent does ^^ this is gonna come off as biased since the general perception is that im a mass gamer but
why does almost everyone seem to value 'natural talent' (whatever that is) over hard work? its better to be born lucky than to have work ethic? so you happen to naturally have fast hands or a good mind for strategy games.. where does that get you in life? moreover, what does it show about the quality of your character? nowhere, and nothing. whereas someone capable of applying themselves and working really hard to accomplish a goal will succeed in whatever they choose, and it also shows something about their character, to have will power and self control and whatnot.

Idra was between the 3/4 best in USA when he left to go Korea, now he should be the best, still not by such an edge that avoids him to lose when facing the others (imho) , I mean, let's say he has 75% possibilities of beating Nony, G5, and Artosis (almost randomly picked "best"), suppose he faces all of them during his way through the tournament, if you multiply 75% x 75% x 75% = about 42%, add the little possibility of losing to some other supposed "lesser" names and it goes below 40% This means that Idra is probably the best, but all the others definetly have a shot at winning this

dude idra.
We finally agree on something.
I've always thought it was more courageous and interesting to invest 100% of yourself into something knowing that you didn't start off ahead of the game but rather behind it. Not just in bw, in life. I'm more drawn to the perfectionist workhorse.

eh i tend to believe that no one starts off that far ahead or behind in the first place, the whole idea of natural talent is kinda silly. beyond people with physical disabilities no ones hands are incapable of going 300 apm, and you can be the best player in the world with less than that. i suppose dumb people have a bit of a disadvantage, but at the state the game is in now you dont have to be a rocket scientist to play.
in a side note, luxury was just traded to KTF.

Well the reason I say 'behind' in your case had nothing to do with talent or anything like that it had to do with experience. The people your playing with have been for the most part playing professionally longer then you have, and with better resources ... 5-6 years of starcraft on tv everynight and alot of real life friends who watch the games with you and play with you... helps I'm sure.
You aren't just taking on each oppt you'll meet right now, your taking on flash/jaedong/best ect... who have spent years to get where they are. Daniel lee said it takes what two years to properly nuture a pro gamer ... I know he always says something like that... that is what I ment, not a talent refrence at all .

well peeps, we'll see who wins this.

Sorry to ask such a newb question, but how can I attend the WCG USA finals matches in person? I live in LA and would love to see these games as they happen. Do I need to buy tickets? I looked all through the WCG USA site and didn't see anything. Is it open to the public? Do I have to register for the E For All Expo?

I believe you have to buy tickets to the Expo and WCG is one of the "booths" at the Expo.

Best chance for USA at WCG GRAND FINALS is Idra and Nony. Don't think anyone else can hang with them. I would include Yosh in there but from what I hear he isn't that active.
