Group A:
effort IAmMang Horang2 Organ
Group B:
Last Calm SoulKey Snow
Group C:
Sharp Mind Modesty Best
Group D:
Mini Larva Sacsri Rain
Group B looks quite interesting to me: The winners' match will almost certainly be Last vs SoulKey, but the loser of that match could get into trouble. Last could easily lose vs Snow, or SoulKey could lose vs Calm.
Sacsri and Modesty are dead zergs. Mini really got the short end of the stick too. And one lower tier player will advance from Group A. I'm guessing Horang2.
|
Great groups. It will be an awesome tournament. And don’t count Snow out. Snow barely lost to Jaedong in a recent tournament 2-3. Anything can happen in a bo1. Imo Mini has a chance against Larva and Rain if he doesn’t get nervous jitters.
|
Poor Piano Poor Calm Poor Modesty
|
I predict
A effort Horang2 B Last Snow C Sharp Best D Mini Larva
|
I don’t think mini is a guarantee over his group and mang is a dark horse in group a. Any one counting snow out hasn’t been watching the scene closely as of late and is borderline stupid
|
I totally agree with that post. Mini and Last arent safe bets. Guemchi is probably 2nd favorite in group A. Even if Sk should beat snow about ~65% of the time (imo), snow should get to ro8 anyway.
|
Great groups. Group B is nasty.
Group A: Effort and I am gonna pull for Organ
Group B: Snow, Last. Pulling for the upset from Snow.
Group C: Best, Mind | Just waiting for Best to show he's the best toss. :D
Group D: Rain and I like Larva's Beard.
|
as of time of this post no one updated the dates/times of the ro16 anywhere, had to go to ygosu to find it...
A: Effort Horang2
it is known effort becomes demotivated for quite a while after big tourney wins but this group is relatively too easy for him to start choking in. im a fan of piano and still dont see him making it past 2 protosses, maybe age has knock some sense into his head to produce smarter play but i doubt it. horangee ranks higher in sponbbang and seems to be the more active player streaming so i go with him
B: Soulkey Snow
last only played 3 spon games total this month lol...his match fitness in severe question hes gonna fall prey to snow/calm's tricks. hopeful he can prove us wrong but they way things go i highly doubt it.. sk's skill and cerebral play makes him the tourney favorite. snow's trickery+blockchain should see him through.
C: Best Sharp
Best gets a favorable group this time (unlike asl5 where he loses to a toss dominated group). Sharp has more quality than the other 2, mind hasn't performed in quite a while and modesty is just a limited player.
D: Rain Larva
I think Larva has the quality to edge past Mini. Sascri isn't very convincing in his 2-0 win over a past it mong. Rain is in a league above the other 3 players.

starting on sunday or we have to wait a little while?
Predictions:
effort Horang2
Group B:
Last Snow
Group C:
Sharp Best
Group D:
Mini Rain
|
I wish flash was playing in this so bad but every other player would just accept defeat rather than trying their best so I guess it’s for the best

Group C:

Group D:

Starting next Sunday (10th), next week is the Lunar new year holiday so probably a bit awkward to start it then.
I'll go for... A: effort, Horang2 B: SK, Snow C: Best, Sharp D: Rain, Larva
|
Larva destroys Mini in all of their practice games. (they play a lot)
He also has been losing left and right to Rain the last couple of months so that one will be an interesting group.
|
Group B is great ! And in group C, Best should have no problems with two terrans.
|
|
waiting for clam and medesty to resurface hue
|
|
Effort/organ Last/Soulkey Best/Modesty Larva/Mini
Then Last gets lucky and draws organ in ro.8, 3-0's BeSt in ro.4 and we get Last vs. Effort in the finals.

I remember BeSt saying about that he wants to win a championship before he hits 30 (he already hit it on korean age) so this year is his last chance. Gogo BeSt, destroy them with your macro!
+ Show Spoiler +Damn, we're all getting old... T_T

Ouch Group B seems brutal
|
My gut would say that Soulkey is the favorite to win the whole thing, his play has been out of control since the KSL semifinals. But I'd really love to see a protoss win since there hasn't been many protoss golds in the last couple years it seems. It'd be really cool to see best or snow win, as far as I can tell neither of them have ever actually won a tournament.
Here's my impression of player tiers in the Ro16: A tier - Soulkey, Effort B tier - Rain, best, larva, sharp, last C tier - mini, snow, mind, horang2 D tier - guemchi, modesty, sarscri, piano, calm
|
I don't think people are quite giving Snow the respect he deserves yet. I mean, he beat Flash in a BO5 during ASL S5 and placed second in that tournament (for example). Anything could happen in Group B.
I am going to make a bold prediction here and pick Larva to win the whole thing. If he focuses hard, I believe he can do it. But if I had to put my money on this, I would say Soulkey vs Rain finals. Let's go.

For me your A and B are one tier and Snow belongs there too
|
Why nobody is considering sacsri ? Guemchi&sacsri are ahead of Mind Horang2 and even Mini right now.
|
Voted best but this tour honestly could have anyone win it you have like 10 players all neck and neck essentially at the same level here. No clear favorite or mvp type of person at all imo.
|
Even with the map pool, and the fact that he is in the group of death, Soulkey is too scary to not be a clear favorite imo. Id say hes winning the whole thing 30% of the time.

Agreed on Snow, I think he's been looking really good lately. I'd definitely have snow in the 2nd tier of competitors at least
|
Snow effort rain and soulkey stand the best chances to me, best probably sneaks in to 5th
|
Sharp is higher than best prolly, not sure. Yoga is so under-rated
|
effort/piano soulkey/snow sharp/best mini/rain
either snow or soulkey wins asl7
|
Great Groups, I think the P's and Z's will fill up the ro8. hoping for either effort, soulkey or Larva standing when the dust settles. Would love to see Larva go far this time.
Predicting: Group A: effort & Piano Group B: Soulkey & Snow Group C: Sharp & Best (But rooting for Mind!) Group D: Larva & Rain
Is there a Group of Death? Imo not really, but looking at recent history I would say Group B is the most "death'like" with two KSL winners, and a ASL runner-up. (With MSL winner Calm thrown into the mix for nostalgic feeling^^)
|
I’m really hoping for some upsets. I think group B is the group of death. I want to watch that group the most.

I think the players who can win the tournament are:
effort SoulKey Larva Rain Last
In the next tier: Sharp, Snow, Best.
Who will advance:
effort/Horang2 Last/SoulKey (I don't mean to underestimate Snow but he's likely to face SoulKey twice and lose both times) Best/Sharp Larva/Rain
Can't wait to be live for groups A and B! Is there anyone I need to say hello to from anyone?
|
A) Effort/Horang2 B) Soulkey/Snow or Last C) Best/Mind D) Larva/Rain

What happened to Jaedong this ASL?

Hopeful for some amazing games in Group B.

And he's nearing his time for mandatory conscription.

I was thinking more about group B and I think now Snow is likely to get eliminated. I don’t see him beating Soulkey or a confident Last.

I agree about Soulkey but I think Snow totally has a chance to beat Last.

I can not find info in the WHOLE net at what GMT time will the round 16 will start in 2019.02.10!
Anybody know???

It will suck for Snow to have Sylphid as the winners/losers map, but I just cant see him losing the final match on BlockChain to any terran, and he would probably have a fighting chance against Calm on it as well.

I think Snow is favorite vs Calm on any map atm. Calm can win with some hydra or ling burst probably due to the nature of the match up, otherwise Snow is a heavy favorite imo

11 AM GMT+1 (or CET), which is 10 AM GMT/UTC. As a side note, there's also a timer on the calendar to the right, which counts down to all events listed there.
