Welcome to the group stage of the broodwarmaps.net open! We decided to go with a different format than originally planned to accommodate all 40 players that checked in. There are 5 groups of 8 players each (randomly drawn) in a double elimination bracket with the top 3 from each group advancing to the playoffs. There will also be a wildcard spot for the 16th player.
Date & Time -Every Sunday at 20:00 GMT (+00:00). -Starts December 2nd at 20:00 GMT (+00:00).
Group Stage Format -5 Groups of 8 players each. Top 3 from each group advance for a total of 15 + 1 wildcard. Each group is a mini double elimination tournament. -The winner’s bracket winner (with a 3-0 score) advances as 1st seed. -The two loser bracket finalists also advance. -The 4th place finisher (with a 2-2 score) has a chance to advance with the wildcard spot that will be determined by map score and bo1 tiebreakers if needed.
Match Format -Week 1-4 bo3 (groups), week 5 bo1 (wildcard matches). Predetermined maps. Map order:
Week 1: Gemlong1.0, Cross Game, DeserTec Week 2: Melting Pot, Resonance II, Hazard Black Week 3: Cross Game, Melting Pot, DeserTec Week 4: Gemlong1.0, Hazard Black, Resonance II Week 5: Hazard Black (round 1), Gemlong1.0 (round 2)

1. Submit replays to bwmnopenreplays@gmail.com and indicate both player’s ID’s and map score in the email. 2. Winners and Losers must both submit replays by 20:00 GMT (+00:00) the next day (Monday). 3. Rescheduling is allowed if both players agree to it, but no later than the replay deadline. 4. Players must reply to PMs (or skype messages) from opponents within 48 hours to answer rescheduling requests. For players in poor timezones compromises need to be reached. These players should PM me asap. 5. 20 minutes grace for no shows (by 15:20pm EST). If there's a no show players must submit screenshots with timestamp using the /time command. 6. All games played on ICCup with LAN latency on unless agreed to by both players. Anti-hack is a must. 7. No BM in-game or out will be tolerated. 8. You must play on the ID you registered with. 9. Do not spoil results of matches. 10. No cheating/abusing..duh
The map pack includes a melee, observer, and training version. The melee version will be the one used for matches. The training versions allow you to set your spawning location to practice wall-offs and familiarize yourself with the maps.
Birdie will be casting when available. We are looking at getting more casters at this moment. If you're interested, shoot me a pm. The round of 16 onwards will be casted for sure. Casts will be done from replays and there is no set casting date or time right now.
L_master, radley, and nina will also cast some games.
Hmm Group D has the most good players, but Group B has the best two players in the tour (at least in my opinion) soo. I mean both are kind of groups of death.

I dunno, but in a way it shouldn't be I mean IF I were setting up the brackets I would set it up so that each group has good enough race distribution to see all match ups on the maps. I mean if you know the players you know which ones will most likely advance so you can set it up so you see MU and while doing so imbalances could be revealed in practice or in actual matches.

Of course people should be let known that it isn't random (If it isn't!) and that this tournament is centered around getting these maps out and refined.

The interesting thing about Group A is that IT'S STACKED AS HELL with up and coming players, but they just aren't there yet.
I think Group A will be very interesting to watch more so that a couple of other groups because the those players can really shine and show how much they have improved recently.
I'm really expected a lot from the people from Group A in the future, but as I said they have some work ahead of them!

The mapmakers of BWMN would appreciate any feedback. We are confident that these are balanced playable maps (having selected them from a wide pool of our maps), but i myself would appreciate any feedback to my map Cross Game. Not speaking for be community of BWMN, but I would think they would agree
Some brief info about each map ^ it gives you some notable map features that you could use/abuse/might affect your gameplay...also has a pic of scouting/army movement paths with times for how long it takes for a worker to travel them...also has a pic with where buidable terrain is and suggested walling for terran main, protoss FFE, and pylon walls for some bases...I'm not quite sure if the FFE wallins are correct I'll see if I can make them better(unless someone out there is good at walling it'd be appreciated if you could update those walls :D ) and also if I have time I'll try Zerg expo wallins...
DeserTec seems to be impossible to sim city at the nat, from my hour of trying to get it to work yesterday. And the bottom left expo of Melting Pot too, if I recall correctly.

Have you tried to just wall at the choke in DeserTec? All the chokes are pretty tight.

For Melting Pot, take a look at the building map.
I don't want to wall the choke though, and you have to place an early creep colony to get creep up to the choke if I recall correctly anyway.

not to mention how cool this is, focusing on one particular mu BoX for an entire week. thats like osl/msl round of 8 style
bottom left main and natural on Melting pot has bad drone mineral gathering pathing, also the pathing when gathering gas (with drones) seems a bit bad/weird too
i like gemlong so far, pretty much standard map as i experienced it... and DeserTec looks very well too, but these forcefieldthings are a bit to gimmicky for me.
i can only talk about early and midgame, never made it to lategame when played on the maps. :/
I liked Gemlong a lot. Cross Game was kind of basic, annoying, and didn't have enough room in the middle of the map. Just giving my 2 cents since everyone else is.

Yes Gemlong is like Fighting Spirit or Dantes Peak in basic design...and its a good design. DeserTec has a nice design too and could lead to good macro games, outgoing from the count of possible expansions you can take (quiet easily i feel). Just dont know how these forcefields are effect the battles.
CrossGame could be a bit bigger maybe, rush distance feels short and it promotes cheese/rushes i would say...
I think desertec is unplayable for terran because of these forceshields - his army composition is based on ranged units both in tvp and tvz. And TvT would consist only on camping. The only one good thing is vultures with mines bust.

Seems to me Terran wouldnt camp, would be more advantageous to push into the middle so your tanks would have the forcefields rather than their tanks...also in TvP I dunno yet but Tanks and vulture will miss, but I feel it will be balanced by drags taking longer to clear mines and still missing......TvZ obviously lings and lurkers wont miss but I guess might force more firebats? Also I believe mutas will miss? Mech same as TvP I guess...

Guys, when i played with TheMarine we realised that there is a bugged Resonance II in obs version ( there are stacked 2 vespen geysers in mains). Check out this bug.
I have been informed, that the map (2)[BWMN]Resonance II(o) contained a severe bug. All resources (minerals and gas) are stacked twice on all bases. This bug only affects the observer and training versions of the map. The melee version is all right.
A bug-fixed update is available on broodwarmaps.net. Additionally to the bug-fix I also improved gas positions for some bases. If you want to play the map with observers, please make sure to get this new version. An updated melee version is also available. The updated map has a new version number [1.03]. The bugged map has version number [1.02] Please check these, or delete the old map, when opening a game in observer mode.
Because of the nature of the problem, i.e. the severe implications for gameplay, observer games played on version [1.02] will be discounted for official results.

seems like we won't be playing our matches with lumix cause something came up for him. LML already said no, but anyway, is there any possible way for us to play on wednesday? otherwise i'll most likely have to claim WO at deadline.

No idea why people don't want to, always amazes me that people don't want to or will dodge. It might not be good to play 85% of games vs someone 2+ ranks higher...but it gives you a feel of things you might be able to get away with at your current rank that won't fly versus better players.
Not to mention it's just damn cool to get to play vs the top players of the scene!

That's because my friends from lower and same ranks are testing subjects for my madness, and higher ranks players are victims of its apogee.

For uploading to yt you dont need to download vods. Just use highlight option, select there start and end of single game. Next use "upload". Repeat this steps for all games.
The wildcard matches are now posted. The format is simply 2 bo1s (single elim) between the 4 players tht lost last week. Winner advances to ro16. ro16 will begin Jan 6th.
The 5 1st place finishers were separated and placed on opposite sides of the bracket to the 2nd/3rd place finishers in their own groups. Other than that it was drawn randomly.
I'll make highlights from todays cast too, when time let me.
I have also tried to upload those videos on youtube channel, but had problems with two matches to be uploaded via twitch application and quality is not so good as on twitch.
I made map stats guyssss :D I've entered about 70% of the games so far I'll finish up later sometime this week BWMN Map Stats It's a really small sample size... like 15 games-ish per map and across 6 MUs thats like 2/3 games per matchup lol...I kno Zerg looks really OP from it but remember this tournament had a lot of Zergs enter in it so yah...basically stats aren't too accurate but theyre just there if anyones interested...oh I included the week by week break down cuz you have to remember that in like week1, you had some D vs A level action whereas (theoretically) week 3 and 4 will be higher levels vs higher levels...
