14 disqualifications in the history of professional StarCraft!
11/30/04 - MBC Movies Team League - Samsung, a player turned out to be an amateur 07/02/06 - Sky Proleague - Nal_Ra/Aqua team, Nal_Ra pause without typing "ppp" 11/04/06 - 10th Survivor Tournament - Odin, mistake with computer 11/15/06 - 3rd Dual Tournament - Doksa, pause without typing "ppp" 05/27/07 - SPL - Hogil/Go.Go, Hogil pause without typing "ppp" 10/18/07 - GomTV MSL - Forgg, use of forbidden bug with SCV 02/04/08 - 14th Survivor Tournament - 815, pause without typing "ppp" 04/16/09 - Avalon MSL Survivor Tournament - Ruby, "ww" instead of "gg" 04/16/09 - Avalon MSL Survivor Tournament - Tempest, "ggyo" instead of "gg" 04/28/09 - SPL Round 4 - Leta, "pp" instead of "ppp" 05/10/09 - Bacchus OSL round of 36 - Luxury, "gfg" instead of "gg" 05/13/09 - Bacchus OSL round of 36 - GoRush, "ㅎㅎ" instead of "gg" (ㅎㅎshows up if you have a Korean keyboard and you type key corresponding to "g" without changing the setting to English) 05/13/09 - Bacchus OSL round of 36 - GoRush, typed "a" accidentally 05/16/09 - Avalon MSL Survivor Tour - Sair, "ㅈㅈ" instead of "gg" (ㅈㅈ is more or less a Korean phonetic equivalent of "gg"
My question: you see all these cases where a player was gonna surrender anyway (thereby losing anyway) and is disqualified for not typing "gg" correctly? It's a loss either way, but is it counted different for the player's record (loss vs disqualification?)

I think the forbidden scv bug was actually done by go.go vs TT?
Or were there 2 separate occasions?
|
The SCV bug with go.go vs. TT was allowed because there was no rule in place prior to the match. After the match, KeSPA put the rule.
|
Interesting that in 2004 people were disqualified for juste reasons, such as not being a pro whereas in 2009 you can't even type GG in korean, lol.

Wow, there have been a lot more recent disqualifications than I was aware of...I'm surprised more people haven't complained that KeSPA should be higher in the PR.

11/30/04 - MBC Movies Team League - Samsung, a player turned out to be an amateur hahaha :D
that's sad... ;;

lol disqualified for "gfg" is ridiculous! Its such an obvious typo

Disqualification for typos is very common.

What's the different between a loss and a disqualification? If a loss by disqualification doesn't count then isn't it better since your loss won't be recorded?
|
Whoa, what happened with the amateur incident? Anyone care to fill me in?
|
some fucking retarded rules.
and retarded people making them too.
just IHMO
|
As expected the last 2 months have seen as many disqualifications as the previous 5 years before that. And it's all for that stupid typing out only gg/GG rule that is screwing things up.

oDin was an amateur at that time, but Samsung put him on the roster anyway.

Odin, mistake with computer.
Wut?! He went back to desktop?

Agreed, why the hell do they ban people for obvious typos -_-
[e] I guess I agree with the amateur incident but everything else is just unintentional it's making KeSPA look ridiculous.

notice the sudden boom of DQ in 2009? its a conspiracy i tell u!
anyhow, i wonder how much more the gamers can take before they go berserk...
|
So many dq for no actual reason. It's sad and it's not good for e-sports. One of these days the korean netizens will beat the crap out of a retarded ref.

I can't believe they DQ'd ForGG but not go.go. ForGG's at least cool.
There are more from 2009 than the rest of the years put together.

It's a cargo glitch. You basically spam C with an scv that has minerals and you can glitch through stuff. I know the game versus TT was on one of the iterations of Blitz, you can look it up in TLPD from there.

What about that game midas accidentally alt-qqed?

Bisu was DQ-ed against July , or rather the game was given to Tushin but in the case both were actually the same thing

This doesn't feel like a complete list, but I have no data to back that up.
Anyone else notice that they have the same number of DQ's on the list in 2009 as they do before 2009? 7 from 2004-2008, and 7 in 2009. Odd to say the least, and a disturbing trend.

I spent some time on my jog last night thinking about it.
I think the increased awareness and pressure is adding to the occurance. It is the only way that I could understand the trend.

I think that SCV glitch was first done in Blitz -> warning but game continued. Next time I think it was Loki (I or II) where it resulted instant loss. That we don't know if terran player was aware of this thing. Perhaps he was testing KESPA if they allowed to do that again.
|
I think Kespa would have been better off making a rule where typing anything other than a request to pause is a regular loss (aka typing another other than pp, ppp, is equivalent to typing gg), rather than a disqualification. And a clause should be added to use their best judgment in cases where things such as the keyboard locking up or when the monitor stops working.

Didn't cHalRengE get disqualified when he typed "fuck" during that 1 team game? Or did they just fine him afterward?
|

I think they just gave him a fine and penalized the Sparkyz a few points. From what I remember he said it just before his team typed out anyways.

ya, i'm glad to see kespa make the Ro16 after defeating gorush 2-0. i'm hoping kespa can make it to the finals.

Perhaps you should also add when they were disqualified. Like GoRush got a disqual right at the start of a BO3 where he was one down... that's just nasty. To be honest, although they are really dumb, some discs have less impact. When a player is typing out he's already lost. Of course there are other consequences to being disqualified, but not being able to play out a game you could have won is a really evil sanction.

Forgg's game was vs Nal_rA I believe. It was when Nal_rA 12 nexus'd and Forgg went 3 barracks MnM.
Obviously, Forgg would have won, if he didnt use the bug to get past Nal_rA's probes.

KESPA Destroy everyone in 2009
|
I think KeSPA should actually try to solve the problem rather than just disqualifying people for it. Like, suppose inside each booth, there were two giant buttons against the wall, one for GG and one to pause. It doesn't even have to do anything other than flash a light or something like that. If they did that, then they could even just ban all chatting altogether rather than penalizing typos -- as ridiculous and stupid as that sounds, I think it's still more sane than what KeSPA is doing right now.

question, when Midas ALT+QQed by accident (i think it was him), was that a forfeit loss?

How come zizi yO incident isn't on here?

On May 19 2009 08:31 Harem wrote: How come zizi yO incident isn't on here?
Again because that happened before the rule was in place. It wasn't a DQ.
The luxury one makes me laugh though. A DQ loss for typing GFG instead of GG? That's a REALLY easy mistake... lol.

I second this. But have it be like one of those military launch buttons, you gotta enter the code, flip the switch cover, then insert your magnetic key and turn it, then you can flip the switch.

Uhm, there was also a probe bug used by Bisu to scout Hwasins base but it was allowed since the referee said that it was Hwasins scv that pushed Bisu's probe inside his base......

What was the bug forGG used?

Yea, that was luck. A different game, it wouldn't have happened. It wasn't any sort of glitch - and if it was, it hasn't been banned yet, so I don't think Bisu would have been DQ'd yet.

Why does kespa get all this power? Why do the coaches/players say anything? Or is it a cultural difference? I was watching the most recent batch of GomTV games, and Tasteless and SDM said that theres a very strict hiearchy... is that why no one complains?
