Jaedong - He is the best zerg and the best player. Flash - he is the best terran and he was a combo with 0 point KTF, team that is able to 4-0, 4-1 opponents easily. Kal - Strong and cheap protoss, the best one cost/effectiveness imo. Hwasin - On the rise, raped Mind, looks sharp, shows flawless gameplay episodically, cheap. Savior - Very cheap, looks like he is on the rise, he is awesome Boxer - Very cheap, got into a good pro-team, has elite sparring partners, he is awesome.
KTF - 0 cost, has Flash and Luxury both capable of the OCV.

Just because a player is on a ton of teams isn't a reason to stay away from him. I understand that you might think it wouldn't matter because if they score you a ton of points, they'll be doing the same for 200+ others. But it's better to rise along with 200 others than to get passed up by those same people because you picked a worse player.
Well what I meant is that Horang2 is a gamble. Most likely he wont get to play and wont score any points. When 200-300 people are taking that same gamble its not as appealing. Flash/lux I know will play every match, and do it well. Its obviously not easy to find a player who is good value and also is not a popular choice among everyone else. I disagree on a couple of things here. First of all I don't think Horang2 is as big a gamble as you think. He is by far the best protoss on his team, and there's a rule stating that 1 player of each race must be played in the first 4 matches, I think he's going to get a fair amount of games in. His biggest competition is Chalrenge, who hasn't played in forever, and Tazza, who is just as unproven, if not less, than Horang.
I was considering the same line of thinking as you, maybe taking some risks on players people wouldn't pick, but in the end i figured that it doesn't matter how many people have the same players as you, as long as they produce you will rise toward the top. The most common picks were the most common for a reason, I think it's actually a good thing if all your players were among the most picked.

(0)KTF --Can't go wrong with a 0 Point KTF.
(8) Flash (KTF)(Captain) --Heavy hitter who would likely play every match.
(3) Luxury (KTF) --Cheap as hell, and a heavy hitter who will often play.
(2) Tempest (KTF) --Cheap player, will be sent out against lesser opponents often, as well as against ACE.
(10) Jaedong (Lecaf) --Heavy hitter who would likely play every match.
(5) free (Stars) --Heavy hitter who would likely play every match.
(2) sAviOr (CJ) --Couldn't refuse a 2 Point sAviOr, he'll likely be played a decent amount, always have the chance of him turning into a destroyer after his MSL performance.

(12) (T)Leta (Captain) - I regret not having played earlier rounds, because I could have trucked people by taking my favorite player
(8) (T)Flash - Continuing the theme of players who can randomly OCV any team
(2) (T)Lomo - There weren't many contenders at 2 points, so I took someone on Lecaf because they will win many matches
(5) (P)free - the only good player on stars and I wouldn't be surprised if he random went on rampages
(2) (Z)maGma - not much to be had at 2 points so I took a risk on magma. If he ever gets over his nerves maybe he will OCV some teams like he apparently did to samsung twice
(1) (T)BoxeR - same as lomo, except he's on t1
(0) KTF MagicNs - taking leta and flash kind of reduces your options, but ktf is a steal at 0 points

So now that signups are over, hopefully more people are willing to explain their teams. Why are YOU going to win it all this season?
Here's the quick rundown for me:
The big three triple-play:
(8) Flash (3) Luxury (0) KTF
KTF is a massive steal at zero points. They had a poor run the last round, but form is temporary, talent is permanent. Flash is the best Terran in the world, Luxury is the second best zerg in the world. For just 3 points I cant see how anyone could not pick Luxury. Flash is dirt cheap at 8 as well.
The Samsung double-play:
(7) Jangbi (6) Stork
I wasnt sure about Stork at first, I really wanted to fit him into the team but couldnt justify the 6 points. Then I saw he's starting out against ACE and he became an insta-buy. He's been having a poor run of form lately, but like Luxury I'm confident its just temporary. I picked Jangbi because he is the best Protoss right now and good value at 7 points. With the 2 best players in possibly the best team, it can only end in success.
The Stars double-play:
(5) Free (1) GuemChi
Free is the best player on stars, and chances are high he's going to be scoring a lot of points from breaking streaks, and of course having streaks of his own. GuemChi is hopefully the player who's going to get me to the top of the rankings since only 30 players have him on their team. He's going first in both games this week and only costs 1 point? How can I say no.
Players I had on my team at some points: (4) Calm (2) Horang2 (1) by.hero
Too many have picked Horang2 and by.hero for them to be a good choice I think. Even if I pick them and they do great - they're on 2-300 other teams and I'm no closer to nr 1! Calm is the player I'd have liked to fit into my team the most, so hopefully he plays horribly and I wont regret it.
Biggest sucker pick:
(12) Leta - Just because he had an insane run last round and got to play in like a million ace matches, doesnt mean he's worth your first-born.
My thought process was basically the same as this, except that I picked by.Hero instead of Guemchi because I believe he will be riding high off beating Bisu for a while.
My Team:
(8) (T)Flash (Captain) (7) (P)JangBi (6) (P)Stork (5) (P)free (3) (Z)Luxury (1) (Z)by.hero
(0) KTF MagicNs

JangBi - he's 7 points, a little pricey but worth it since he's pretty consistent imo Flash - same as above Jaedong (Captain) - he's the best zerg in the world right now and I hope he allkills every team he plays (except cj) by.hero - i didn't want to pick him at first because he's so overhyped now, and stx already has calm and july, but i decided to sacrifice some more solid 3/4/5 pointers for the expensive guys above. probably a bad idea. Horang2 - same as above, but he's a toss on ogn so he'll get some playing time hopefully sAviOr - had to get a cheaper pick to match up with the three heavy hitters on my team, and after msl i had to get him KTF - definitely a good pick for 0 points.
for the longest time i was going to use something like Flash, Horang2, Luxury, Jangbi, Free, Kal, KTF after last night i'm pissed i didnt keep it -_-

free and ZerO make pretty pictures
Jaedong - obv
Flash - obv
free - <3
ZerO (Captain) - <3
sAviOr - 2009.
GuemChi - I know..I know..3 Stars players. I won't win. But if a Stars player is going to do well I'd better have him on my team, dammit. Otherwise I'll feel like a traitor.
KTF MagicNs - All of my points so far! Good buy.
|
July - My favorite player and he's done good... Couldn't root against him anyway so :D.
Flash and Jaedong - Can waste entire teams.
savior - 2 points... There are not many 2 pointers that could do better and i had no CJ player.
Horang2 - needed a Protoss and had not many points left, gamble...
Iloveoov - Wanted an SKT1 player and he was on the lineup.
KTF - It's free and capable of winning.
I settled for Jaedong/Flash/July and then just filled the other slots with players that seem to be capable of doing good and/or to get more good teams.

Team name: cheap and expensive (9) (P)Bisu (Captain) Strong in all matchups (even tho hes been shaky PvZ latly), good all kill potential, will probably be used in most matches + strong team that should fare well in the all kill format
(8) (T)Flash Needed a terran and Flash is pretty much given to play in every match unless KTF all kills before he gets to play + good all kill potential
(9) (P)BeSt Pretty much the same as with Bisu, except 1 rather shaky matchup. One of these will always be fielded in SKT I expect
(2) (P)Horang2 Since I had pretty much spent all my points on the 3 first players I had to find cheap people for the 3 next slots, I think he will play a decent amount for OGN and hopefully be able to pick up alot of points.
(0) (P)DaezanG My last pick, needed someone for 0 points, figured hes got a fair chance to play some games for ACE.
(2) (Z)OversKy Needed a zerg and he will probably play in a decent amount of ACE games since he is their best zerg and can actually pick up some wins. + I figured that not many people would choose him.
(0) KTF MagicNs At this Price there really was no other choice.

(7) (Z) EffOrt (Captain)
Solid and consistent, though with the inclusion of sAviOr, might not be CJ's pick. Still, EffOrt is bound to get tons of play time, and is strong enough in his match ups (especially ZvZ and ZvP, with ZvT being a weaker element) to get some streaks. He may also be used as a sniper, since his ZvZ is at such a strong level that there are few Zergs who can stand a ReaLchance against it. Also I'm TL.net's number one EffOrt fan, so he has to be my captain
(8) (T) Flash
The Flash/KTF combo comes to mind here. At the moment, Flash is pretty much the indisputable Terran force on the scene, and will be used for massive points by KTF in the line up (except for Last night....in which he didn't appear. Weird). Flash is bound to get massive game-time, anyway.
(9) (P) Bisu
You just can't go wrong with Bisu. He's probably going to be SKT's premier Zerg sniper, and he's just so consistent, along with Flash and EffOrt, my other big points players, that he's probably going to be in for a streak. Like Flash and EffOrt, he's also probably going to get tons of playtime, and with MSL and OSL out of the way, he can focus exclusively on the WL!
(2) (Z) sAviOr
sAviOr's just so damn cheap, it's hard to pass up such a good player at this point. Unfortunately, he's another CJ Zerg, so he and EffOrt will be splitting the airtime. Even so, I felt that he was one of the better 2 point picks.
(3) (Z) Luxury
Luxury for three points? What a steal. Like EffOrt and sAviOr, he's very, very consistent, and is one of the few Zergs doing well at the moment. For only three points, you get a solid Zerg player who is bound to last a few games. His ZvZ is also pretty consistently strong.
(1) (Z) by.hero
For one Point, by.hero was the obvious choice. He's shown surprising skill for someone of his renown, and he could be used as a surprise sniper pick.
(0) KTF MagicNs
KTF for zeropoints? Obvious choice, since the other low point teams don't show the depth KTF does. Also, with my inclusion of EffOrt, sAviOr, and Bisu, I had to be pretty thrifty with my remaining points.

My strategy was to get : - Good player carying there team alone : this way no other player can end the match before they get to play. - Zerg players : cause map pool is going their way. - to gamble a lot : using player that I believe are getting back in shape, or getting good and thus underpriced, (the only way to get to the first place) - To take players good in all the matchup, this way coach cannot use their weak match up to get rid of them
- Flash : The KTF guy, strong and lacking good team mates (too bad lux is getting back...) good all kill candidate (damn you lux !) - Free : The wongjing guy, probably underpriced cause of his rough round 2 , buit he started to score at the end (GGplay you better stay out of shape !) - Skyhigh : I believe in this guy, he play insane, and is getting more and more grip on his nerves, bonjwah material for 5 points, cool ! - TheZerg : he had an horrible start at SKT cause he played only ZvZ, I believe he is good in the other match ups (and I hope he pick it up...), I am sure he as potential, he will be SKT ace Zerg. - Savior : Savior is good since blizzcon, he was ahead of FBH before the horrible "noob mistake", he played insanely against free in GSL even loosing, + Show Spoiler +he lacked confidance but now I belive he is ready to get back. - by.hero : well i dont now, he seem too lack a bit of training but have good inteligent game sens and I love that. I kind of went with my heart with this one, he is behind calm and July in STX, and I don't know if I can espect much of him, big gamble...
-SKT nothing too say here they are good and i went with my heart.
This line may have some weakness, two CJ player and they wont carry the team on their own (FU effort and Iris), TheZerg ZvZ and his teammates, by.hero, anyway you can't have everything for 30 points

HiyA: He's Lecaf's consistent Terran, even more consistent than fOrGG and he's racked up a few nice wins in his last few games.
sKyHigh: He's CJ's Terran, he's solid, and one of the few players to take down Leta in PL this season.
Kal: Kal can be one of the best players in progaming or just average, either way he'll get me some points and he's a really nice player to watch. Hoping for him to be the best in progaming this round .
Hwasin: Hwasin is always amazing even when he's slumping. He totally slaughtered his OSL group vs Mind and HoeJJa, and he beat really in his most recent PL match.
Saint: I love Saint, Saint rapes Protoss players, Saint is MBC's Zerg ace. Saint will be sent to snipe people like BeSt, Bisu, Stork, JangBi, etc.
Horang2: Solid up and comer, OGN's only realiable Protoss player (Tazza sucks sorry).
STX SouL: 2 STX players on my team, STX has July also. I think STX will do well like they did last season (3rd place behind Lecaf and Khan).
;D

My first time with fantasy PL AND all-kill format. Not sure what I did.
8 - Flash best T, will play many games
10 - Jaedong best Z, will play many games
9 - Bisu best P, will play many games
With these 3, that's 27 points. The other three were to be ones who weren't gonna play, but maybe might show up from time to time, also they might steal some points because their team wins.
1 - Stats KTF point steal, most likely protoss to be used (especially in this protoss era)
1 - Tazza OGN point steal, a likely protoss to be used, plus OGN is sorta on fire.
1 - Boxer SKT point steal, and likely to play
0 - KTF it's free. it was this or SKT. Lecaf is too expensive, and I hate khan

I think seasoned vets will do better in this format, where they don't always know which maps/matchups they'll play.
I picked players from 6 different teams so they don't compete with each other for lineup spots.
(10) Jaedong: All-kill potential, will show up in every game Lecaf plays. Favored against nearly every player in any matchup on any map
(8) Flash: 1 point less than Bisu, same potential, and his only lineup competition from his own team is Luxury. A bargain at 8 points.
(6) Stork: All-kill potential, very experienced player, plays against ACE this week.
(3) Pusan: Relatively cheap given how well he played in R1, has a near free-win against CJ's Memory this week.
(2) sAviOr: Came down to iloveoov, Horang2, Iris, and sAviOr. Oov was tempting since he was up against ACE, but I thought he'd get cut down by Anytime in the second game. Horang2's probably a good pick, but there's no telling how he'll do in this format. And Iris never wins when I cheer for him. So fanboyism wins out, go sAviOr!
(1) GuemChi: I had him on my team before lineups were out, so I sure as hell wasn't removing him when he was in two matches. Supposedly he has a ton of potential, though I've never seen him play. Worth it for 1 point. :p
(0) KTF: It's great that I don't have to care whether they win or lose, they'll still come out ahead this round.

(4) UpMagiC, (9) Bisu, (4) Saint, (4) Shine[kaL], (2) Tempest, and (2) Lomo. (5) SK Telecom T1
I picked a lot of 3-4 point players from a variety of teams. I'm looking for a lot of upset wins and streak break points. They're all fairly solid players who, for me, will be interesting to look for this season. I doubt I'll end near the top 50% when this is all said and done.

(7) EffOrt Capable to all kill (7) JangBi Very nice all around protoss (4) ZerO He might get good all kills if he has some good luck (1) by.hero Experimenting (3) Thezerg (Captain) Who knows maybe SKT1 might play him and he might be beast to kill at this format (5) Really Pick something from eSTRO team
(3) OnGameNet SPARKYZ Should bring a lots of points.
