“Unpredicted all-kill”

Q: You got your first ever all-kill.
A: I didn’t even win a single game in the last WL. I was confident with the format, but oddly enough, I didn’t do well. When I practicing for set 1 of the match, I won maybe 1 out of 10 times, so I wasn’t in a great mood when the match began. PvZ in Judgment Day is really hard, but after winning today, I think that the Zerg players in my team are just really good.
Q: You seem confident in PvP
A: Not too long ago, when I lost toJaehoon, I lost my confidence in it. Originally, I had so much confidence in the matchup and no matter who the opponent was, if I didn’t leave any spare resources, I thought I could win. I believed in my ability to macro better than everyone else.

Q: WhenBeSt was acknowledged as the person with the best macro in the past, you must’ve been disappointed
A: Best is known for his amazing macro and I have a similar style as him. If I’m given the resources, I’m confident that I can produce units at a non-stop rate.
Q: You said that preparing for game 1 was hard. How did you end up winning?
A: I think
great prepared a wrong strategy. I went for reavers but he defended with the worst combination against reavers: zerglings and lurkers. I was able to win because of my opponent’s wrong choice of units.
Q: Another Zerg was sent out for game 2.
A: I didn’t thinkJuni would come out. However, I knew that another Zerg would be sent out in one of the remaining sets, so I wasn’t surprised. I already had 1 win by then, so I didn’t have anything burdening me, and I also had amazing teammates backing me up if I had lost. I was able to play comfortably.
Q: Your 3rd set opponent was the “flawless” playerStork
A: I didn’t feel pressured at all. All PvPs are the same. However,Bisu does intimidate me a bit (laughs). Stork is well-known and highly analyzed among the players, so I knew I could start off with a lead.

Q: Did you think that you could manage to all-kill prior to the match?
A: I didn’t predict it at all. Set 1 was so hard, so if I won that, I was going to pass the baton onto my teammates. I concentrated only on set 1, and therefore couldn’t practice any other maps or matchups.
Q: When did you start thinking that you had a chance to all-kill?
A: When set 2 ended, Khan only had protosses and terrans, so I thought that if I concentrated, I had a chance.
Q: What did you think about after your all-kill?
A: I’m hungry for more. I want to do better to boost my win rate, and to become two top protosses of the team like Khan and SKT to intimidate other teams.
Q: Your individual league results must be disappointing
A: I thought I could advance past the preliminaries for the OSL, but I was stopped byAction. Actually, I really wanted to play against Bisu in the group finals. I had a losing record against him, and wanted to play against the best protoss. After I dropped out of the league, I reflected on my mistakes.
Q: Anything you want to say to your coaches?
A: The fact that I was sent out first just because we were against Khan makes me feel a little regretful. Even if we’re against a team with good Zergs, I can do well so I hope they believe me and send me out more (laughs).
Q: Anything else?
A: My goal was to get 1 kill, and 2 kills at max, but it feels really good to have performed an all-kill. Also, it’s fluttering to meet my family after a long time. I don’t really want to see my dad, but I want to see my sister who’s 9 years younger than me (laughs). I told her to text, but she never does (laughs). She loves me so much, but I don’t know why she won’t text me. I raised her by myself too (laughs).

Q 생애 첫 올킬을 기록했다.
A 지난 위너스리그에서 한번도 이기지 못했다. 위너스리그 방식에서 자신이 있었는데 이상하게 성적이 좋지 않더라. 이번에도 1세트 준비를 하면서 10번 경기를 하면 1번 정도 이기는 등 너무 암울한 상황이었기 때문에 또 패를 기록하는 것은 아닌가 생각이 들어 기분이 좋지 않았다. '심판의날'에서 저그전을 준비하는 것은 너무 힘든 것 같다. 그래도 오늘 이기는 것을 보면서 '역시 우리 팀 저그가 세구나'라는 생각을 했다.
Q 프로토스전에 자신감을 드러냈다.
A 얼마 전 MBC게임전에서 김재훈 선수에게 패한 뒤 자신감이 떨어졌다. 원래는 프로토스전에 엄청난 자신감이 있었고 상대가 누구던 같은 프로토스이기 때문에 자원만 남기지 않으면 이길 수 있다고 생각했다. 또한 다른 사람보다는 잘 뽑을 수 있다는 자신감이 있었다.
Q 예전에 도재욱이 '도물량'으로 주목 받았을 때 속상했을 것 같다.
A 도재욱 선수도 물량을 무척 잘 생산하는 것으로 알려졌다. 나 또한 비슷한 스타일이다. 자원만 주어진다면 쉬지 않고 병력을 생산할 자신 있다.
Q 1세트를 준비하기 어려웠다는데 어떻게 이기게 됐나.
A 차명환 선수가 전략을 잘못 선택한 것 같다. 나는 리버를 생산했는데 상대는 리버의 천적인 저글링과 럴커로 수비하지 않았나. 상대가 체제를 잘못 선택해 이길 수 있었다.
Q 2세트에서도 저그가 나왔는데.
A 유준희는 사실 예상하지 못하긴 했다. 하지만 저그 중 한명이 나올 것이라 생각은 하고 있었기 때문에 당황하지는 않았다. 1승을 하고 난 뒤라 부담도 없었고 뒤에 워낙 잘해주는 팀원들이 많았기 때문에 편하게 경기한 것이 좋은 성적을 기록한 것 같다.
Q 3세트 상대가 '무결점의 총사령관' 송병구였는데.
A 전혀 위축되지 않았다. 프로토스전은 다 똑같지 않나. 하지만 김택용 선수는 조금 부담스럽다(웃음). 상대가 워낙 많이 알려진 선수이기 때문에 내가 유리하게 시작할 수 있을 것이라 생각했다.
Q 경기 전 올킬을 할 수 있을 것이라 생각했나.
A 전혀 하지 못했다. 1세트가 워낙 힘들었기 때문에 1승만 하면 남은 경기는 팀원들에게 맡길 생각이었다. 경기를 준비하면서 1세트에만 집중했고 남은 맵에서는 연습을 하나도 하지 못했다.
Q 언제쯤 올킬을 할 수 있겠다는 생각을 했나.
A 2경기가 끝나고 남은 종족이 프로토스 아니면 테란이기 때문에 조금만 신경 쓰면 올킬할 수 있을 것이라 생각했다.
Q 올킬을 하고 난 뒤 무슨 생각을 했나.
A 더 욕심이 생긴다. 더 잘해서 승도 많이 쌓아서 삼성전자, SK텔레콤처럼 (김)구현과 함께 투톱 프로토스로 다른 팀을 무섭게 만드는 존재가 되고 싶었다.
Q 스타리그 예선에서 탈락한 것이 아쉬웠을 것 같다.
A 스타리그 예선은 올라갈 자신은 있었는데 (김)성대에게 져서 너무 아쉬웠다. 사실 결승전에서 김택용 선수와 정말 하고 싶었다. 상대 전적도 밀리고 있고 최고의 프로토스와 경기를 하는 것은 욕심이 난다. 예선에서 지고 나 자신을 돌아볼 수 있었다.
Q 감독님께 하고 싶은 말이 있다면.
A 상대가 삼성전자이기 때문에 내가 선봉으로 나갔다는 생각에 조금은 아쉽다. 저그가 강한 팀이라도 충분히 나가서 좋은 성적 거둘 수 있으니 믿어주시고 자주 기용해 주셨으면 좋겠다(웃음).
Q 마지막으로 하고 싶은 말은.
A 설 전에 1킬 아니면 2킬 정도로 깔끔하게 마무리를 하고 싶었는데 이렇게 올킬을 하고 나니 정말 마음이 후련하다. 오랜만에 가족을 만나게 되는 것도 굉장히 설렌다. 아빠는 별로 보고 싶지 않고 9살 차이 나는 동생만 보고 싶다(웃음). 문자를 하라고 하는데 안 하더라(웃음). 오빠를 좋아하면서도 왜 표현하지 않는지 모르겠다. 내가 업어 키운 동생이다(웃음).
