It seems a large number of users on this forum cheer for specific players rather than specific teams. Or they cheer for a team because a specific player is on it. I think that's fine, but I implore you guys to cheer more for a team only. Its much more rewarding, fun, and less frustrating. It also makes you a "cooler" fan. Here's why:
1. Slumps occur in BW a lot. Cheering for a team lets you seamlessly transition into cheering for other players you already care about while still appreciating the old guy who is in the twilight of his career and doesn't really appear as much anymore. Its a more consistent form of caring. Otherwise, once your guy is eliminated, you have to find another guy (without a good connection to a player its hard to cheer more than superficially) or you just lose interest in progaming.
2. You know the players better on your team. You know the young players, get excited about them, and see their progress. There are so many amateurs and new guys that its hard to keep track of, but if you follow a team you just have to track the history and results of just a few guys.
3. You suddenly care about offline prelims and minor league. I followed Skyhigh and Efforts' rise from unknown to major proleague contributors. Its really fun and rewarding to see this happen, to see a kid grow and get better and start performing. Much more rewarding than becoming a fan of a player once he's already good.
4. Inter-team dynamics, coaching, and moving on. You see how the coach interacts and develops the players. You see new players and how they interact with old players. You see when a younger guy slowly surpasses the older guy. This happened several times with Savior-Effort, Iris-Skyhigh, and Much-Movie. I loved those old guys, but I knew so much about the new guys too and it was extremely exciting to see them start succeeding while the "older generation" mentored them.
5. Easier and better fan and forum interaction. What do Savior fans talk about? Maybe the one game he played the other day? But I talk to CJ fans all the time about so many things about the team, from Skyhighs loss to Ruby to Hydra slowly learning how to perform under pressure. Plus all this closer attetion-paying and better knowledge will lead to more in depth and good quality forum discussion.
6. Loyalty is rewarded. Its much more rewarding to see your team win when you suffer through bad times. This doesnt happen often with players (outside of Nada and July) because once players slump for real, they are usually never back to being "good." But teams are different -- theres always hope for next year. Look at how bad Samsung is doing and how good WeMade is now. I sincerely hope KHAN fans dont jump ship and I hope all teams get their "WeMade" moment, when it seems a team is finally putting it together. It's great.
So thats my pitch, guys. For whatever reason, pick a team, and stick by them forever.

I like 4 teams..equally :C it's a pain to cheer for teams
|
Totally agree... helps devotion get past the slumps. I enjoy watching difference teams for various reasons. SKT has been pretty revolutionary of late... and CJ has been so full of win. I wouldn't say that I'm totally a one-team fan... but I definitely have favorites
|
MBC will win PL finals this year.
|
meh, I don't think either one is better. The reason people often cheer for players is that they enjoy watching their games - as Starcraft is an individual eSport, it's hard to like to watch every player on the team.
|
I'm with you, HB, I'm sticking with my team through thick and (now especially) thin. Thankfully, Seattle sports teaches us to accept the inevitable fall from grace and to do so without getting too worked up about it. Truth be told, it felt weird rooting for a winning team...
Go Khan!
|
I like Khan because of all the badass Protossers they had at one point. Don't follow progaming a lot anymore though but still they my proteam boys.
|
You shouldn't have to cheer for a team. You should just have more than 1 player that you like. If they all happen to be on the same team (like for me), then great.
|
I only became interested in pro Starcraft this last July, when someone linked me to Flash vs Shuttle in GOM. I loved it and I have been a Flash fan ever since. By following Flash his results I became a fan of KT in general too. But seeing as this is my first full season as a fan I haven't seen much growth yet in any of the players so most of your points don't apply to me.
Also, I also really like some players outside of KT. I'd probably cheer for Baby and July if they were to play 815 or Firefist or a KT b-teamer.

GOGO ACE!
the only sad thing is, that daezang doesn't play for them anymore
|
First I started to cheer for CJ because Effort was in it, but then I learned to love the whole team.
|
The optimal strategy is to be flexible and always cheer for the favorite in every game. That way you'll usually end up satisfied with the outcome. Even better, skip the live broadcasts and watch VODs. Then you can check the results beforehand and always make sure that you're cheering for the winner.

Cheering for T1 makes me feel like im bandwagoning ;;

Good heavens, no. I'm sticking with KHAN to the bitter end.
I became a KHAN fan solely because of my liking of Stork, and at first I was pretty lackluster in my enthusiasm or the team; but now, I'm definitely a fan of the whole team. And, oddly enough, this season has made me more committed to the team as a whole than ever before, rather than less... although it'll always be Stork > KHAN for me, nevertheless I'm becoming more enthusiastic about the rest of the team every day.
Anyway, what I'm trying to say is: Go Stork! Go KHAN!
|
My love for CJ Entus may have started as love for a player, but as players move from the team, slump, or retire, I find that I still love CJ just as much.
|
meh I'm not a fan of bandwagoning onto one team tbh, I support like half the teams (SKT1, CJ, eSTRO, KT, MBC, ACE and MBC) and just hope for good games overall
|
|
CJ because of The Maestro~ and fortunately even after his reign, they still have some decent chances. EffOrt gogo!

as long as you stay a fan of one team and don't switch, its not bandwagoning. even SKT fans are fine in this regard.
I'll be a CJ fan in SC2 as well.

I find myself attracted to various players on various teams. Some are oldies, some are in their prime, and some are just starting.
I just don't feel any desire to cheer for a particular team, aside from wanting SKT to win because that naturally correlates to Bisu winning.
If I had to pick a favourite team, it would be E-stro for their support of the foreign scene, but I'm not a particular fan of anyone on that team other than GosI[Flying]

Go STX! The only team with a girl on it ;D And they don't care if you're overweight or if you pose in fashion magazines or if you name yourself CuteAngel. What pioneers~

I had SKT icon for a while but figured out that cheering for Bisu and Boxer (yeah who doesn't cheer for him^^)doesn't necessarly make me SKT fan. So changed to CJ,since my fantasy team is basically all CJ,and i found myself getting excited as hell during their matches. Hydra fighting ^_^

Itachii you betrayed us :O
Not counting Bisu, Boxer and oov SKT1 still has a lot of awesome players. We got HYUK who's been on fire lately, we got soo who sucks so be he doesn't even get to show his SSJ3 haircut anymore and we got also got Mong, who I think is a very promosing terran player. And cheering for T1 is not bandwagoning, you guys just hate us cuz we're beautifull.
Since I don't really want to end with some nerdrage shoutout, cheers to Hot_Bid for the awesome article

T1 always came off to me as the New York Yankees of Starcraft. I hate the Yankees., hence I could never root for SKT1.

CJ Entus ftw
Was a big fan of the Savior, Iris, Much trio since they were my favorite players for each race. This naturally made me into a CJ fan and nowadays i'm cheering for the "new" guys Effort, Skyhigh and Movie and get all excited about their matches.
Still i'll always smile when I see one of the big old three in the lineup instead of the new guys. ( yeah i know much is in ace, i hope he comes back to cj after his service)

although i prefer KT, i am fan of FlaSh exclusively. I dont care about teams, i want my favourite player to win!

My point exactly! From the first pro-game I ever saw, I've EASILY been a KT-fan. Mostly because of Flash, but also the teams great historical list of awesome players helps a lot.

Didn't you have a Khan badge before you went to SK too?
Someone beat me to it. D:

My favorite players are nothing compared to the favorite team. I watch all of the early STX games live and catch the others. I analyze games in wholly roundabout ways so that I pretend the STX player has the upper hand regardless of how the game is really going. I rage whenever some stupid shit (read: anything) robs them of a match.
In contrast, my favorite player is BackHo...
|
i love skt1 + savior. when savior and bisu play it's bittersweet. either outcome leaves me happy and sad.. i slightly favor savior, because i was happy when he beat bisu in the recent games.
|
love STX, but damn i never stop cheering for leta.

Starcraft is not much of a team sport especially since 2 v 2 got taken out. The strength of teams are based on how strong individuals that play 1 on 1s are and not how much they can work together. Teams are just something for sponsors.
So cheering for a team is really hard to do as the only reason we chear for teams is because of the individuals that constanly wear the logos not because we like the team.If Jaedong wasn't on Oz would so many people like Oz? If Koby wasnt on the Lakers alot of people would still like the lakers, not as much, but still alot.
If it was a team sport, Oz wouldn't have made it Pl finals. In summary of my opinion, theres no real teams to cheer for, its just a bunch of individual players who happens to have the same sponsers who arent allowed to play each other in proleague.
Edit: some people start saying they love the team after they follow one player. Deep down, thats not true. They really just start liking the other players on the team that win or are fun to watch because they happen to observe them alot because of that one player. If Stork and FBH move to Stars tomorrow, I wouldnt give a damn about Khan.
|
I can't do that...
I love Samsung, SKT1 and KT I can't pick
|
I mostly agree but you can't plan becoming a fan. It just happens. In my case it always worked this way: first a fan of a player then a fan of the team he's in. Like when I was a child I liked one german soccer player. He played for 1.FC Koeln so this is my favorite team.
In SC I liked Savior, now I cheer for CJ
I always disliked ACE btw. It's a shame to see the SC heroes end as marketing marionettes for the Korean Air Force.

These guys practice with one another basically all day every day. Their styles and expertise influence one another. The team atmosphere shapes their mindset, even psychological endurance.
Also, in each match you need at least 2 players to win games. Then you might need other players to lose in mismatches to achieve your wins in the other games. Every game is played by a player who, win or lose, is contributing to his team's success in a winning match. Sure they're not working together while they're on the stage for a given game, but the overall score is the product of a team effort all the way.

Indeed, hence i said "for a while" Khan was the very first team, Stork was the player who got me into SC,and Januray the coach who amazed me with her lineup settings, so theres obviously sentiment left for them

A man after my own heart. I have the same sentiments as you. KHAN can suck ass for the next decade, I'll still cheer for them. I am of the KHAN, for the KHAN, by the KHAN, Samsung KHAN!!
But Stork comes before all else. He is the supreme commander.
To OP: Great post and I agree. It is funner to cheer for a team rather than just one guy. I definitely follow everything KHAN does, but I'm really worried about them. I think January is making a mistake trying to cultivate zerg players on the team. Big deal if this season is the Swarm's. KHAN's zergs have never really shown talent outside of Great, but even Great has always struck me as a rather gimmicky player. He's calm under pressure but his game sense and mechanics just don't strike me as ever being enough to pull into the top tier. He plays a great macro game at times, but his unit micro, general sense of what to do, etc seems really off.
I'd much rather see more Terrans being nurtured in KHAN. FBH is a serious liability nowadays and with his retinal eye tears, LASIK, getting old and never really making it anywhere in the indiv. leagues really seem to have taken a toll on him. I highly doubt FBH will last more than another year or two before retiring.
|
I'm sorta in-between. I mostly just look to all my favorite players. I have some teams I like though.
SKT because Boxer. It's Boxer man. Also Bisu and Fantasy, I'm a HUGE Fantasy fan.
And yeah CJ because Savior, Iris, Skyhigh, Effort... <3

ACE forever!
I really like KT though [flash, luxury, 815/firefist/hoejja, violet/tempest/stats... I realize I don't really like most of the "lesser" players themselves, but because they are on KT.] A I also somewhat like CJ [skyhigh and iris yeahhh... too bad kwanro is gone ]
|
I don't know... whenever I start being a huge fan of any team, I find myself falling into patterns of thinking like "Sure, I'm a big fan of Jaedong and not so much of Movie, but if Movie wins CJ has a good chance at winning this set", and then I can't sleep at night because I feel like someone who crawls in dirt.
|
I follow Wemade Fox! damn they are doing well right now!!!!
|
|
Followed SKT because of Boxer/Oov, which has let me enjoy Hyuk's growing strength, the arrival of Fantasy, and even post-transfer Bisu. Also, Best's brief period of super macro crushing wins, and the resurgence of Canata (although he's getting less lineup spots now, hmmm).

And why isn't this thread frontpaged?

This is really true. I love Jaedong and Savior equally, but somehow i picked OZ as my team... Damit im chaning to Estro, seems to have a great coach + let foreigners play with them + RET!

i cheer for whoever wins. keeps me happy all the time

I think its also helpful to have certain teams you root against. I always root for SKT and whoever is playing against WeMadeFox (I'm still bitter about MInd / Bisu MSL, hate Rock and find pure boring, and dislike all non-skt terrans). Poor Midas

I've always been partial to STX, I like their logo and a lot of their players like Julyzerg, Hwasin, and Calm but individually I like Flash, Jaedong and Stork the most. I don't know if I'm ready to commit to STX since those players will inevitably face each other, and I have rooted for Jaedong over Hwasin in the past as well.

Been a CJ fan since i started following progaming, mainly because of the Zergs (Savior and Effort). In the beginning i really liked SKT1 but that was mainly because of Boxer, so my feelings for SKT1 were never "true".

I don't think you (HotBid) understand why I (and likely many others) appreciate the sport that is StarCraft.
StarCraft is a single player game. For me, it isn't about cheering for any one team - and it's not about cheering for a single player. I noticed this in your other article about bandwagoning as well, but you seem to make the assumption that people only like players/teams if they produce significant results.
That is not what interest me in a player. For example, Fantasy is one of my favorite players even though he has hasn't won a league yet. I was a fan of Hyuk long before he started tearing it up. And antithetically, I became a fan of Savior long after he had fallen from grace.
Why is this? Because these people captivated me with their play styles, histories and struggles. I don't give a damn if Savior never returns to his prime, he's still an intriguing character - both as a player and as an important figure on the StarCraft scene - and is thus worthy of my attention. Similarly, Stork is such an enthralling character not because of his gold, but because of his dedication and enduring proficiency in pursuit of it. Firebathero... Don't even get me started.
Now, this thread... What's the point of it? Can't people just enjoy the experience that is StarCraft - matches, players, teams and all - in whatever way they so desire? There are many players I like, for many different reasons. Why should I dedicate myself to one single player/team, thereby putting all my pro-gamer eggs in one basket, as you say?
What makes you think you know better?
|
But what, should i choose randomly 1 of 12 teams and cheer for them? I just can't force myself to like any team, when i like some players it's because i saw great games played by them, but i have no motivation to cheer for entire team cause i didn't see any kind of great performance by entire team at all. I can only judge their results which ain't enough for me to like any player/team :/

Not sure why.

Starting out, my favorite player was Bisu; so of course, like a lot of others, SKT1 became my favorite team. But, after looking through the whole team, I really didn't like many of their players and found myself cheering against them when OZ made their comeback in the Proleague Finals. Looking over the teams, KT interested me because they had players I enjoyed, didn't have as many fans as SKT1 or CJ, and Flash was my second player besides Bisu. Also Firefist, Violet, Luxury, etc are awesome.

Oz! Just give some time to the new generation players, and the team will be back in kicking everyone asses.

I think it's easier to bandwagon across players than it is to bandwagon across whole teams, considering players win matches but the team doesnt win to begin with. (JD partially this season, Flash last season...) Provided the general attitude towards bandwagoning is finding the player who always wins, it's not hard to find the right player. Lucky for me, I became a JD fan before his MSL loss to forGG and saw him win a Golden Mouse. This coming from being a NaDa fan before.
Personally, I'm a fan of any team that doesn't have Canata in the lineup. I watch SC more for the games and strategic and entertainment value than to support a certain team.
|

I understand what you mean but it´s hard, because 1. I love oldies, all of them. Can´t unlove them. 2. Skt T1 has Bisu,Best and fantasy whose style I just don´t like and they get to play all the time 3. If I choose ACE it wont be the same team for long, otherwise I would be an avid ACE fan.
But I guess my love for e-sports can handle this even though I would like to be a fan of just one team.
Oh what the hell just f it, I guess I´ll be a wemade fan, they still got Midas and Nada right?
GO WEMADE! Is there any other wemade fans here? I think I should now go and check their roster just so I know who I can call next bonjwa

Being a fan of a team makes Proleague matches more exciting for me, and it's more fun watching their run through the season, but that's just me.
|
My favourite players would be EffOrt, sKyHigh, and Iris probably. I like many other players on CJ so I kind of already just cheer for CJ as a whole.
|
I'm in a strange situation, my favorite teams don't really have the majority of my favorite players : I prefer estro and stars in team formats, but my favorite players are people like Violet/Bisu/Ruby/Hoejja/Horang2/Calm. I don't particularly care for Flash because he's a terran player, or even JD because zvz is boring.
I like Stars because they treat their players really well, and most of them have a really strong emphasis on micro-oriented playstyles, a la Free or Zero. But I refuse to have them as a team because their terrans are horrible. MVP has decent tvp, that's it. I also like them because they constantly feel like they are just on the verge of being an incredibly good team, only needing a player or two (the terrans) to step up.
And estro are foreigner friendly people. I like their B-team players, but their A-team players kind of bore me for the most part. Upmagic is fun occasionally, but Sangho/Hyvaa are boring. Really I enjoy a lot, and I don't know why.
However, at the end of the day the only way a team will get my respect is if they field players whose play impresses or entertains me. It's fine to watch a horang2 vs frozean game, every bit as much as it is to watch a Flash vs jaedong or Bisu vs stork one.
|
CJ love arrived once EffOrt, SkyHigh, Kwanro and Movie made good matches @ Shin Han Winners League, then I was more than a Samsung Khan Fan due to Stork and JangBi
|
I agree with this however I root for Jaedong over STX and I usually still pick STX to win mostly because Oz keeps sending out baxtar lol
|
Cheer for SKTT1, why settle for anything less?
|
I cheer for Ace when not cheering for Jaedong.
|
I'm guilty of cheering for just my favorite players yes. sAviOr, Light, Jangbi and Effort. This is a decision I made though, on purpose. I do have a TEAM, being CJ, but I was a Pro-football fan for too long cheering for a "team". Teams loose too, and go into slumps. I find following the people in the "sport" and their personal struggles/victories to be much more interesting.
I remember feeling like CRAP when my team would lose. I took that hard. I know other people do weather or not they admit it.
I know there was a certain someone on this Forum who was a HUGE "Oz" fan, but when they lost a few in a row... you could see it affect him a lot. This isnt going to happen to me.
Sometimes, I even enjoy watching players I have no attachment to MORE, because Im just watching the game. Half the time sAviOr plays, Im too freaked out to enjoy it as much as I would if it were... Stork vs Leta... or some such good players who Im not really so attached to.

I cheer for CJ and STX. I hate Khan and SKT.
I think cheering for teams is a lot more fun than cheering just for the player.
|
I've been a fan of SKT1 for a pretty long time.. Back when they had red and white adidas team sweaters, when was that? I think it was back when iloveoov peaked...
Edit: Btw it was so sweet when Bisu, hands down my favorite player, joined my team! :D
|
I've been a T1 fan since I learned about progaming through BoxeR.
|
I am one of these boring guys ;.;
I used to have (before Midas joined Wemade and oov/Kingdom retired) most of my favorite gamers in SKT1 but now only Best and Fantasy is left, while Wemade has NaDa, Mind and Midas...
|
CJ had my favourite players from each race on the team last season... Kwanro, Movie and Iris
My favourites have sort of changed though now, but as a whole I still love CJ <3

But I guess my love for e-sports can handle this even though I would like to be a fan of just one team. Oh what the hell just f it, I guess I´ll be a wemade fan, they still got Midas and Nada right? GO WEMADE! Is there any other wemade fans here? I think I should now go and check their roster just so I know who I can call next bonjwa Then choose STX for July, MBC for Pusan or Wemade for Nada/Midas. Easy.

Don't be a fan. Be a hater.
It's so much more rewarding. Every player eventually slumps. It's just of matter of time and patience. Be a hater and you will inevitably get the last laugh. And until that happens you can always find something else to laugh at. Like their face.
Look at FBH. I hated him from the start. He was pretty solid at first but that wasn't an issue at all - I simply ignored his TvT and TvZ games but kept watching every single attempt at TvP. He also rewarded me beyond any expectation by getting eliminated over and over from every individual league.
But still, that wasn't enough. It was clear that he could still dig much, much deeper. All I had to do was to wait.
I waited.
As of today November 6th 2009, Firebathero boasts an impressive #85 ELO rank, with a high probablility of reaching the three digits soon thanks to his reliable 37.88% PvT winrate. His other matchups have catched up as well, granting him an ongoing 4-game losing streak that will soon bring him below 50% winrate overall (he's sitting at 109W-104L at the moment). Another team might have halted the process by not sending him out anymore, but this will not happen since said team is currently ranked 12th among the 12 pro-game teams.
Let me assure you that I enjoy Starcraft immensely more than any of you ever will.

Golden State Warriors will win the championship

Stars fan ever since I saw their first Proleague match as the Woongjin Stars. I agree with pretty much everything Hot_Bid says. Once I started following the Stars more closely, watching SC became so much more enjoyable.
Sure I still like other players and teams (Oz and WeMade), but the Stars still hold a special place in my heart :3

I became a fan of Hwaseung at first because of Jaedong, but now I've grown attached to the rest of the teams players. Other teams don't generate the same excitement I get from watching a Hwaseung match. It's way more enjoyable then watching any of the teams with huge fan bases (SKT, CJ).

I went with ACE for a long time - i'm not really sure why, though. ACE is by design filled with cool players and I always enjoy watching them play, but STX has always been the team that's interested me the most. The entire design of their team is just really solid, and they have easily the most badass sponsor of them all. I just like the concept of a team without a "true" ace at the top of the standings.

Thought I was an Oz fan because of Jaedong, but I realized I don't really like anyone besides JD. Woongjin Stars ftw!

to the guy who said its impossible to cheer for a team and its the individuals who make the team, if effort, skyhigh, and movie moved to different teams tomorrow, i'd still cheer CJ. i mean that 100%. i would still want them to do well, but i wouldn't follow them as closely and i would cheer for Hydra or Snow if they played against them.
if someone came up to me and was like GOOO CJ!!! EFFORT IS AWESOME!!! i'd high five him, but didn't know who Savior is, or that Much preceded Movie, or that Skyhigh's best matchup is TvT, then i wouldn't really feel much camaraderie with him.
i know SC is less of a team sport but the values of being a fan still apply. its like saying oh i'm a kobe, lebron, wade, carmelo, and dwight howard fan! and people will look at you and be like this guy has no real attachment to any of these guys. what's the point of that? oh, i'm a flash, bisu, jaedong, fantasy, and calm fan! go everyone thats good! you're allowed to appreciate players being good without being "fans" of them in the sense that you always cheer for them to do well. i like watching those guys too, but if they ever went up against a no-name CJ player, i'd root for the CJ guy all the time.
if you're going to just cheer for whoever is best in that race at that time, why not take it a step further and just cheer for the winner of each VOD, or whoever wins their games in the PL playoffs. the entire experience of a fan is to be loyal, suffer through hardship, and then feel like you are a part of a teams success because you are more invested than someone that just likes whoever wins at the moment and switches teams the instant things go bad.

instead of cheering for a team. can I just bash a team?
eSTRO aint SHIT

I was into KTF before they started to suck, then I moved to CJ and then now I'm with wemade. I think I'm going to stick it with wemade though.
|
I totally agree. I also think Pro league makes the most sense for a starleague because it gives more points for a company to sponsor a team. I am stuck however, because I have a favourite player in each team O_O

I fully support this OP. It's so much more fun to root for an entire team of players (even in individual leagues) than it is to pick and choose individual pros.
What's frustrating to me is when people say they are a fan of a certain team, and then root against that team's players in individual leagues. Show some allegiance!
|
Agree, in most cases. But say if Hery played vs NaDa or July in a ODT decider, no way I'd root for Hery just because he was in KTF.
|
Flash fan first, KT fan second.
Switched my icon to Oz for a month or so when Oz was set to fight against SKT1 to show support against my least-favorite team, but now that a new season is here it's all KT again.
But I'm a Flash fan before a KT fan. I'd rather have KT win 3-2 with Flash winning his game and the ace, than have KT win 3-0 without Flash getting to play in the 4th set.

I have truly begun to appreciate cheering against Bisu and Fantasy whenever they play. If they win, it's no big deal because it was expected, but if they lose, I get a big banana grin, especially if it's against someone they really shouldn't lose to.

I love everyone on Hwaseung Oz, and know a few of their actual B-teamers (that only play in prelims). Except Spear. I don't like spear.
|
I always have trouble picking a team because there's players I like and don't like from almost every team. ~__~ I'm also a pretty indecisive person in general when it comes to picking favorites.
My favorite teams in general though are CJ, STX, Oz, and eSTRO.

Boxer fan.
SKT T1 fan (because it's Boxer's team).
I love everyone on T1, except for maaaaaaaaaybe thezerg ... actually I love him when he's not sent out lol

Khan is the most amazing thing on SC (after HongJinHo and Mae Jae Yoon)! I will be rooting for Khan everyday at proleague and I will until something happens (team disband or something heavy).
And if Samsung doesnt sponsor anymore I dont care Im more a fan of the group that Khan made Jangbi, Stork, Firebathero, great, January, great, miracle and every new player on the team.
Long Live Khan and for the fans of Khan dont worry, this Proleague is ours!

Fuck rooting for a team, I root for the Protoss Race, unless it's a player I really like, which there aren't many of. In times of hardship, one must believe in the power of the protoss race.
My Life for Aiur!

I'm with those who root for individual players, not for a team a particular.
I always thought bw is mostly an individual game, although of course the team environment is important. I admire CJ's coach for what he did for his team, the many champions he raised, Xellos, Ra, Savior... But i the very end, i always valued more the individual leagues over proleague. In the end, it's not 2 teams facing each other, it's a player facing another, this is where it's most impressive. The mind game, the will to win, what makes a champion isn't shared in a team.
I disagree with the fact that being a team fan makes it easier to know the players better. You just don't choose the players you cheer for. Why do you cheer for Movie more than Violet? Why do T1 fans prefer Hyuk to Zero or Effort who are imo much better?
I think Prototype said it best anyway, you can be a fan for a lot of reason. I personally like mostly agressive, unpredictable players. They won't always win of course, but i like them because they make the game interesting, and that's what i care about in the end.

I dont think that just because I like CJ that if EffOrt won OSL I would be happy.. I mean I like EffOrt so I would be happy if he won OSL, but just because someone from CJ won osl, I wouldnt be more happy.
