Hello guys!
I've been playing a really, really good game called Aces High 2 (http://www2.hitechcreations.com/index.html) which is the best, most realistic, complex and amazing WWII air warfare simulator I've ever played in my life.
I learned a lot air combat maneuvers such as the rolling scissors and the rope 'a dopes maneuvers, a bunch of WWII airplanes, their strengths and specialties, gunning, flap usage, throttle control, trims, torque, stall conditions, long story short, it wasn't a point and shoot game, it was 100% pimp.
Now what I want to know is, do you guys know of a game as amazingly as good as AH2 BUT about modern airplanes? (tomcats, hornets, raptors, etc) Any help on this will be greatly appreciated! =DD

If you're looking for a realistic, complex modern flight combat sim, I think you're out of luck. The problem is, modern air-to-air combat is all about beyond visual range combat, which isn't very exciting. I played some old Novalogic flight sims (F-22, F-16, Mig-29) and Jane's IAF, but there really wasn't much maneuvering the way you described. It was more of fire a missile, wait, see "target destroyed" pop up on your screen, fire another one...
The Ace combat series isn't realistic at all but I heard it's a pretty good series. I heard it was still very missile-based, just at shorter ranges than real combat.

Flying games are pretty fun. There is a new game coming out or is out already with good graphics and game play. Can't recall its name though sorry

My two friends played some game like you described at Dreamhack just some days ago I'll try to find out what they played :O

Ace combat is really an amazing set of games, although the flight control isn't simulator-esque, its quite fun. I still pick up #3 and play it randomly when i get nostalgic. If you have a 360 get 6, but if you have a ps2 get 4 or zero, both amazing games. (especially the soundtrack)

Wth, Il-2 Sturmovik IS the best WWII simulator. It still holds the crown even 8 years after release.
And no, there are no current Modern Planes simulators worth inevsting in, HAWX is the latest one but it is NOT a simulation (is a BELOW average Ace Combat clone)

Just play Crimson Skies, seriously its the best flying game ive ever played
and aces high 2 was just annoying rather than fun

IF you ever get the chance to go to a good arcade there is a jet game as well as a heli game that you sit inside and it moves around (of the same maker I believe) which were pretty fucking good. Searching for the names right now..
