 But, i have a question to tl-net. I'm a relatively new guy here and recently i saw alot of bashing on combat-ex and i want to know why everybody hates combat-ex. He puts videos to help people who arent good at starcraft. Its the same thing as helping people on the strategy section. Yes, he has abused but that doesn't put away the fact that he has put in hundreds of hours to help people who arent good at this game. Just my 2 cents. feedback wanted.   | ||

Combat-EX released FPVODs in attempt to help people get better at SC. In doing so, he created a huge fanboy mob of people thinking Combat-EX was "such an amazing player", and really gosu. The thing is, most of those people were D/D- players. When TL discovered him, they realized that he was a complete phony, playing people infinitely worse than him, winning, and teaching badly. So many people laughed at him for him pretending he was so good at SC, even though he really wasn't. Keep in mind he kept stating he was a B-/B level player. Then people released screenshots, as HuskyTheHusky posted, of him begging for free wins, thus showing that he isn't even the skill level he pretends to be, and in fact much worse, and even pathetic. + Show Spoiler + P.S. He thinks Bisu build is forge expand EDIT: Thinking you're good is nothing bad. But flaunting a fake skill level that you don't have is just wrong. Not to mention despite the effort he put in, they are often not even that educational, except at a VERY low level of play. Once you get past D, then they are useless. For example, he says often that him having 800/800 is good macro because the ratio is similar. That is not good macro! Also, a lot of the things he does are faulty build orders, and are usually not applicable to higher level play, unless you are much better than your opponents. The reason i created this thread was for some insight why people hated him. Now that i see what kind of a scumbag he is. But before, i had no clue what all this bashing was coming from. Please get rid of your ignorance, i have said several times that i do not support this guy. In no means am i creating this thread to rally support for this guy. | ||

Thus, its completely understandable that he gets bashed a ton on these forums. What's wrong with that? We're allowed to express our opinions on our forum, especially when they are justified. It's Combat or his fans who feel the need to come on here and defend him. You could ask the same question to him: why does he need TL to like him? I completely agree with the stuff you've said and it gives good insight to the majority of people on Team Liquid. Cheating is completely stupid, its something you do to get through the campaign, not against legit players on ICCUP. we know he's not that good. we don't watch his videos. he may beg for wins, and get them, but as far as the scum of starcraft goes, hackers are 1000000x worse in my opinion. once a hacker always a hacker. i won't say too much more, as i don't want to be banned for my opinion again. | ||

Nah, that's not true. The part about 'once a hacker, always a hacker' anyway. Everyone does stupid shit when they're young, especially ages 13-16ish. Lots of hormones are running, people are self-conscious, desperate to belong etc etc etc. I've never hacked, but there's lots of things I did at that age that I would hate to see an adult do. I don't think there's anyone who made it thru that age without doing anything stupid. Whether it was limited to hurting themselves, or whether it hurt other people. People definitely change. | ||

Guys like testie and trek, who cheated and then followed up their apologies by playing fair for long periods of time, should be forgiven. They also proved themselves multiple times at big-time offline events, and became productive members of the community. Anyone who doesn't put in the same kind of time to prove their sincerity should still be an outsider, plain and simple. I'm all for second chances, but hacking/cheating undermines the fair competition we hold dearly. The foreign scene for the most part has been without prizes (bwcl, wgtcl for example), so you're playing for the sake of competition. When the playing field isn't level, everything is pointless. On topic, I had no idea who this combat guy is, but he's a real winner. My favorite part is definitely the MSN chat line where he states something like, "I'm good vs D players and suck vs A+ players." What a coincidence, combat, ME TOO! | ||
