I took Stats today, anybody else take it? The open responses were not anything I thought they would be, our teacher kept giving us problems like Chi Square, t and z tests to practice. The MC's weren't that bad though. I got US History and Lit and Comp (for juniors), any advice on either of those? If you took the stats today, please discuss anything! I screwed up the last Investigative Task, I bsed the whole thing.

I just took it today as well. In general it seemed really easy. I was pretty worried about the chi squared analysis and all that since the teacher stuck it in at the end of the year, and so I studied it for an hour the night before. Turns out it was pretty useless =<. The FR was really different from what I was used to as well, since during the year we had to conduct a lot of tests out fully and stuff, but on the test I don't think you had to even do one. The last question on FR caught me off guard because it was so stupid, but my friends seemed to have gotten the same answer as me, so I'm pretty sure that was what they're looking for. I have 7 more AP tests to go (calc bc tomorrow).

I'm feeling a little nervous for the Calc AB test, I know I can pass and get at least a 3, but I want to get a 4 or better, and I've worked really hard on it .

You have to wait 48 hours to discuss it. Ban imo!

=D In all seriousness I'm taking my AP Calc AB tomorrow and AP Lang and Comp next week. Uhg, I've already done so many practices all I care about is getting them over with.

What's FR? And was the last question about cars and their fuel efficiency?

It wasn't hard, but it was definitely much more theory than calculations this year for free response. I think I did find, and you'll probably get a 5 too (you need like a 70% to get a 5 right?)

I don't think we can dicuss FRQs yet, but NEVER discuss the MC.

Why not?

FR = free response; And yea, by last question I meant the one where they asked you to make a formula to determine skewedness.

Yea we're not really supposed to discuss it, but hopefully the AP people that DO come here (if any) are not low enough to not track me down based on a few vague posts =D.

BC calculus AP exam....

Man that exam sucked so much. 4 BC grade 5 on the AB and I missed the cutoff by a single questions for a 5 BC grade... I was ENRAGED.

The Spanish Language test was slaughter... Especially the speaking part. 5 minutes to read an article, 5 minutes to listen to a segment of a Spanish radio broadcast, 2 minutes to organize your thoughts, and 2 minutes to summarize, compare and contrast the articles. Bleck.

I just did abs(Q3-Median) > abs(Q1-Median) and since each of those ranges includes 25% of the data, but the (Q1-Median) range contains the same amount of data in a smaller range of numbers as the (Q3-Median), that means the median is more to the left (nearer to Q1), therefore it was slightly skewed right.

I thought of using outliers like you did as well to prove it as well (and then conclude that it was normal since there weren't any outliers), but I thought it was too far of a stretch.

Just took AP U.S. Government yesterday and it was much easier than I thought it would be. I have Calculus BC tomorrow though and I'm screwed. Almost everyone from our school last year got 1's and 2's. I'll be happy if I can get a 3.

I'm also taking Literature and Composition (English 12) and Psychology.

yea AP Gov was easy yesterday. I also have calc BC tomorrow but I'm pretty sure I can get a 4 based off practice exams in class. The MC are so tricky though. I think the part II are easier, lol

I thought Lang was for juniors and Lit was for seniors?

Anyways, the curve for stat is like:
AP Statistics
68 - 100-> 5
53 - 67-> 4
40 - 52-> 3
29 - 39-> 2
0 - 28-> 1
so that's really good :D

Actually it was a teaser, planned to respond eventually, but if you wrote that comment as an incentive to motivate me, you probably evoked a response about 30 minutes earlier ...i guess, so congrats! the world needs more awesome motivation like you obviously...

Sarcasm aside, I was charged with MIP (minor in possession) and sent to a alternative learning center
-DAEP (called M.R. woods) and suspended for 3 days and unenrolled from my high school/ enrolled into M.R. woods.
I'm getting out early on good behavior, though.

I took the stats too, and it was surprisingly easy. I too was expecting them to make us do a lot of inference and significance tests. The only thing that really bothered me was the first free response graph. I put a bar graph comparing all the data by gender, but the bar graph feels a little bit nooby. What did you put?

And I'm also taking US History. We can suffer together

I had two bars for each category of the job experience and put like a legend or w/e, a regular bar was for males and a bar with lines going across were females.

What did you put for the frog dissection one and the last one about the car and skewness? And I was also expecting there to be alot of significance tests, I was going crazy trying to remember the conditions. And US is just annoying now, our teacher is suffocating us with multiple choice packets

Hellz ya, I ripped that shit.... Well sort of. The multiple choice was difficult at times but I think I snaged somewhere around 70% and the open ended was a cake walk with the possible exception of the 1a. Idk, I was thinking about matrix's and regression graphes; I just had nothin' to put in the box, the others were melleflous(spelled wrong but I'll be damned if I don't use my dictionary.com word of the day). How did u do make your statistic to describe skew? I used Median-Q1/Q3-Median but I've heard other answers. As for AP history, I don't think it'll be too bad; on our final (an old AP test) I got 68/80 and I'm gonna prep again on wed/thurs so I think a 5 is realistic, you might have heard this around but my history teacher firmly believes the dbq is gonna be on the gilded age so if you want to spend some extra time there it might help. Besides that what is there to do except skim the text and reread Apnotes.net if you haven't all ready. As for lit, I'm just gonna take it as it comes, theres nothing to study except rhetorical devices and strategies anyway. Kinda wierd, you're taking the same AP tests I am (well minus the comp). Gl dude, its gonna be ten times worse next year...

AP Latin, Ap Bio, Calc BC, Physics...At least it don't have French, can anyone confirm or deny that as the hardest Ap exam?

Oh, wow, difficult for you. The hardest tests I've heard were the US, Spanish, and Bio.

I'm taking AP Calc AB, AP English, AP Spanish, AP Euro, Business Mgmt and P.E! Yay

The hardest ap is Chinese. It's stupidly designed for native speakers, so it's entirely unfair.

I'm taking Psychology and English Literature this week.

I'm going to fail the Psychology test and probably get a 5 on English Lit.

Took Stat today and GovPol US yesterday, fell asleep/dozed off in the middle of both of them for like a good 30 minutes or so. Thankfully they're easy tests. I'm taking both Physics next week and if I do that for them...

I did exactly the same thing as you for the graph, except regular bars for females and the other kind for males. Great minds think alike

I said that the ones who went for the dissection are more likely to like bio and be better bio students, which would introduce a variable other than dissection/computer program. I'm assuming you mean the last part for the car. I put down (Max-Median)/(Median-min). I self-studied and didn't study very hard, so take my answer with a grain of salt.

Oh nice, I said that smarter kids would do the actual dissection instead of the virtual one!! What about the first part, how did you set up your method?

I just had them draw slips from a hat to randomize it. One half of the slips denote dissection while the other mean program.

Attention, some of you are being prosecuted and your IP addresses monitored- due to the failure to comply with "a number of established test administration procedures as clearly set out in the 2009 AP Coordinator's Manual."

To reiterate what you should all already know:

UNALLOWABLE CONTENT
1. The articulation of multiple-choice exam questions and answers.
2. The articulation of free-response questions* within 2 days of the exam in which they appear.

EXAMPLES OF ALLOWABLE CONTENT
1. A general discussion of topics on the exam.
2. Comments on how well the course covered those topics.
3. Comments related to preparation.
4. Comments on how well the student thinks s/he did.
5. Comments on the difficulty of the exam.

Each time a student takes an AP Exam he/she must sign the following statement: "To maintain the security of the exam and the validity of my AP grade, I will allow no one else to see the multiple-choice questions. I will seal the appropriate section when asked to do so, and, I will not discuss these questions with anyone at any time after the completion of the section. I am aware of and agree to the Program's policies and procedures as outlined in the 2005-06 Bulletin for AP Students and Parents - including using extended time only if I have been preapproved by College Board Services for Students with Disabilities."

When the AP Program finds that a student has disclosed through any means any multiple-choice questions, any free-response question from an alternate exam, or any free-response question from a regularly-scheduled exam within the 48 hours of its administration, the Program will automatically have that student's exam grades canceled.

You really shouldn't discuss FR online till 2 days after b/c people in say, hawaii often go online and shit to look for answers.

AP Comp Sci was a cinch, this exam was like the easiest in years.
AP Calc was ehhhh...

Oh well, done with AP's this week. Environmental Science, physics C, and english lit and comp await me next week.

AP Calc AB was a breeze until free response. Specifically, the calculator free response!

Wow! I'd never see that last problem before. I had soooo much trouble with the last two. That 45 minutes seemed so long because I kept doing everything incorrectly. Oh well, I think I ended up doing okay, but I'm just pissed that in the three practice tests I've taken a problem like that one has never come up.

On the BC, the non calc FR last question was probably the hardest (I didn't really learn Taylor Series properly). The calc ones were just like physics problems, they didn't seem too bad (probably different from AB). Overall I think I made an easy 5 despite all the taylor series problems they decided to stick in there =.= (grrr).

yeah man i had like 15 minutes to spare on every section until the last FRQ section with the calculator. seriously wtf. all the hard stuff that was on my practice tests wasn't on the actual test, and then that bs comes up in the homestretch.

but yeah overall i think i did well too. really wasn't as hard as i expected

I didn't find it that bad. The theory part is really easy, it's the listening part that got me. Even though I play piano, I still got a 4 on the listening.

AP Comp Sci A was so frickin easy. I regret not taking AP Comp Sci AB test even though i don't take the class. Ugh. stupid collegeboard getting rid of AB.

AP Euro wasn't as fun though. MC was ok. too many questions on women. DBQ was awesome. FRQ's were pure hell. :<

I've heard that scores have arrived. Mine are unaccessible at the moment so I'm quite frustrated (but I really don't want to play $8), so help me relieve my angst by posting your scores~

I'm a junior as well, I take AB Calculus tomorrow, Us History and lit and comp coming up too.

I got a 4 on Ab calc and US History.
I got a 3 on Eng Lang..and I only wrote one and an half essays before I fell asleep..so guess could have gotten a 4 on that as well.

Calculus was the one I worked hardest for..so I was hoping for a 5...but im satisfied.

That calculus score is simply unacceptable to any engineering program :/

from what i know, any higher tier school will not accept a 3 for any college credit. i know at my school you had to get at least a 4.

Well I got an A in my calculus class both semesters but our teacher was kind of a joke. I figure I'll start with the Calc I course in college anyway so I hope it'll be ok.

In the sciences like Physics, Chem, Bio most of the Unis won't give you full credit with a 4. You might only get 4 credits instead of 8 with a 4. UMaryland only gave me credit for the first semester of Bio with a 4. Some don't even give you credit with 5. -_-

Basically, it's good to get past these classes if possible. They're basically weed out couses in Uni and the profs are generally not so good, the TAs first language isn't English (or whatever country you're from), and they make everything more difficult than it actually is as you probably well know.

My HS only had AP for calc/chem/bio/art lol. I only took Bio because I really didn't care about taking the test, I just wanted to take the class because I liked Bio lol so I didn't study at all for the test so I only got a 4.

wtf why are so many people getting 5's in calc BC, that test seemed so ridiculous to me... Then again 90% of our calc BC classes in the past years have gotten 1's or 2's so maybe I can put some of the blame on my teacher.

Lol @ all the "I got a 4... i slept during the test/never studied/didn't do homework" honestly shut the fuck up... nobody cares about your lies for not getting a 5, or your feeble attempts to make yourself look cool.

5 on calc AB
2 on APUSH last year =/
Took Physics B as a class but didn't take the exam because I couldn't get credit at my school for the class anyways

Well I did sleep during Eng Lang, because I didn't even sign up for it. and frankly, you fucking suck for getting a 2 on History.
