I live in Hvar (thats in Croatia, its a pretty amazing place) and i attend school and live a few months out of the year in Dubrovnik, which is about a 2 hour drive from here.
My life up until the past couple days has been relatively normal. I just turned 20, have a beautiful girlfriend, make good money, am in good shape, etc.
Now, about a week ago, i went drinking with some friends. I brought my girlfriend, who we will call Marija, and my friend, who we will call Artuu. (he's the person who went against me in the "sleep deprivation challenge")
We drove into Split (Another large city in the area, also a great place to go drink because of the large number of clubs) and went partying.
This was all great and fine, but we were so drunk and high on cocaine and ecstasy that by the end of the second night (we stayed up through the first) we just decided to get a hotell room.
There were beds in the place, so me and the exhausted Marija collapsed on one and Artuu on another. Atleast, thats what i thought.
So about four hours later, i was woken up, still pretty drunk and high, to someone sitting down rather heavily on the end of my bed. I didn't think a thing of it,
but i cracked my eyes and saw just about the strangest thing ever. My friend, whome i have known since we were little kids, was feeling up my sleeping girlfriend!
(yes, you read that right!) she was completely passed out and he was fondling her! I saw red. I'm not a particularly aggressive guy, but this really flipped me out. Because i was still pretty jittery from the partying all that night, i instantly sat straight up and said "WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?!"
This scared him pretty badly and he jumped straight up and said "uh... nothing?"
again, i dont like to fight people. Although some times it comes to it, i can handle myself pretty well in a fight. I'm about 190.5 centimeters and about 94 kilograms, so i'm not exactly
"small" by anyones measurement. Before i even knew what i was doing, i jumped out of bed, which i had passed out in on top of the blankets, and pushed him, hard.
Now here in Croatia, most people are tall. Artuu is the exception. He's short, and very thin, and spends most of his time working at your stereotypical "office". So he pretty much flew backwards into a cheap table/chair.
Again, we both weren't really in out right mind, so as soon as he stood up, he punched me in the stomach, and then i put a left hook into his jaw. His head snapped around really hard and he just fell over. I've heard of one hit k-o's, but this really scared me. I thought i killed him. Marija was woken up by the noise and i told her what had just transpired in the last 5 or 10 seconds. Fast forward to four hours later, we're standing in the police station, telling our story. As i said before, i'd pretty much only gotten 4 hours of sleep or so the past two days, as well as the drugs, so i was dead on my feet.
Anyway, we made a report and everything, i avoided spending the night in jail because i had a reason to attack him and so on. So we went back to the hotel room and went to sleep while Artuu was booked into the hospital with a concussion and a fractures jaw. I still dont feel sorry for hitting him.
The next morning, we woke and felt just fine for about 5 minutes until everything that had happened the night before caught up with us. We drove back to Hvar really quietly, and i took her home and we went our seperate ways. Now, that night, i get a call from Artuu. He's pressing charges against me, and i may have to pay his medical bills! Of course, i instantly called up Marija and told her what he said, and, crazily enough, she agrees that i "over reacted", and that i should pay his bills! We got into a huge argument about this which pretty much ended up with her hanging up and refusing to pick up my calls.
So yesterday i talked to a lawyer and he said i had a pretty strong case. Me and Marija made up, but now i'm worried about having to deal with a friend through court and i'm really worried that our friendship is ruined forever.
Although i'm STILL not sorry for hitting him.
