A bit over 2 years ago I bought this mouse after hearing about it for sale in this thread http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=43887

It's a really awesome mouse, but I seem to have this bizarre problem where every few months for 1-2 weeks, the left mouse button will become somewhat non-responsive or it will double click everytime I single click. Trying to highlight text to copy/paste is almost impossible. The double click causes you to fumble up any drop down menu as it will immediately click a random advertisement on the web page you are viewing after you use the drop down menu. I googled this and I found a few other posts of Diamondback users that say they've experienced this same problem.

Now I'm thinking I should just get a new mouse, but I don't know what I want. I favor razer heavily over logitech, but now I don't know if I can trust them

Any other people use this mouse or have heard of this problem? Anyone know how to take apart this mouse and/or clean it? Thanks for your time!

I think its time for the new Razer mouse. The crazy 5400 DPI one that is wired/wireless

Things wear out though for sure. Did you check razerzone to see if they have a driver for you?

You have to remember that things made to perform well die quicker than things made to perform poorly for a long time.

I've had my diamondback for awhile now and haven't had this happen to me yet. Might be time for a new mouse or might need to clean it out.

Exact same thing happened with my Diamondback except it is permanent but I love this mouse, so I just bought myself another one.

I've had this happen to me with two different Razer Kraits. Maybe it's just a Razer problem.

Did you properly clean and take care of your mouse? Mice get dirty, they pick up loads of dirt from the area you use them on, and loads of grime from your hands (yes, sweat, dirt, ew ew ew).

I have had my diamondback for 4 years, and have not had this problem. I had cleaned it regularly, making sure to get rid of buildup near and under the buttons. If anything, you just have dirt under the buttons or inside the mouse that you need to clean out.

Take the mouse apart, inspect if it is dirty. The other option is that you click so furiously that you have bent the rods the buttons use for contact. There is a way to reshape them, you can extend the life of your mouse this way. If not, get a new mouse.

Lastly, it could be a driver problem? Are you running the latest diamondback drivers? Yes - there are newer ones, check their website.

If you don't like it get a salmosa ^^ Just got one about a week ago. Took a while to get used to, in fact I am still not 100% used to it, but I am getting the hang of it and it is a really good mouse for sc.

I've seen this on my (old, non-3G) diamondback, but I loved the mouse so much I kept at it until I'd actually worn all the rubber off the mouse buttons. It also didn't happen often. Once a month at most.

I have a deathadder now (which I also love), and this hasn't happened to me yet, though I haven't had it long.

I bought a Razer 3g diamondback a month ago, but I returned it cause clicking the right click was inconstant. Sometimes it takes more force to press, sometimes less force. I bought the Razer Salmosa next. The Salmosa is really good for sc. It has the perfect shape. It's similar to the mouses that pro gamers use (Logitech minioptical, Logitech G3). It's perfect for claw grips and fingertip grips.

my non-3g old diamondback got fucked up this way, after that I bought a Krait and that doesn't have this problem.
And all is illuminated.

Go to RazerBlueprints, they tell you how to fix the click issues and whatnot.

Lol, apparently I'm stupid. I always looked for a way to open the mouse to try to clean it but I never saw any screws or anything. Supposedly I was supposed to rip off the coaster things (I hate losing those) and there's a screw under the bottom one. It needed a cleaning pretty bad. The only thing I could think of before this was to spray condensed air under the buttons, and when I opened it just now there was some goop from that stuff as well >.<

Thanks everyone for the tips. Anyone know good products to maintain/clean mice with? I just used Q-tips for now. Don't know much about electronics or what can damage the circuits inside the mouse.

wow, it was working pretty well after I cleaned it, and not even 2 hours later its worse than ever. My left mouse click is almost not working at all.

lol, rubbing alcohol works better than water. Just don't get it on any chips or wires.

Even though you fixed the problem, you can fix 'dead click' with my guide but usually mice have warranties too. Logitech has 3-5 year warranties on all their mice and send you a replacement mouse after some simple phone work (once you actually get in contact with a human).

..and then I would, ya know, check em'. (Aka SpoR)

And this is where it ends. I've run out of ideas and patience, so from now on my scroll click is macro'd as my left click.
