I was stationed there for 9 months doing joint training with some Army, Marine, and AF dudes at the SATCOM site (where the Airborne dudes go?? don't remember the building name). Anyway, that place fucking sucked for me and I was getting wasted almost every day in the Navy barracks (totally unregulated when I was there) and pretty much doing whatever I wanted. I can't imagine what it was like for those poor privates who had to do the whole Army recruit thing: rucksack marches, daily P.T. at o'dark hundred, restricted liberty, etc. Good luck though! Honestly, the only good thing about that base was the pretty decent dental work I got done there, haha. (Also, surprisingly, there were actually some really hot dental techs that worked there). | ||

While I can't applaud your decision to go into the Army(I enter the Marines in May, so.) you ARE lucky in that the Army's AIT is absolutely state of the art. Laser tag-esque stuff. It completely outpaces anything the Marine Corps or any other military in the world has for training. I'm totally envious. Good luck, though! | ||
