I've never made one of these threads before, so I expect it to be a fulfilling experience.
It's Tuesday night. This Thursday, two girls are coming over to my apartment. They're both pretty cute, but one has a boyfriend. We'll call the single one Badgamer, and as for the taken chick, we'll call her Goodfriend. You may be asking, "How did you come into contact with these girls?" Excellent question, readers.
They both work with my roommate Salthook at a hardware/appliance/etc store. Saltyballs has been in the friend zone with Goodfriend for... approximately... since the dawn of time, roughly. But he's always had a big thing for her. Anyway, it's safe to say that nothing's going to happen there.
Badgamer just recently started working at this place, and she works in the same department as Goodfriend. Salty found out from spending countless hours at Cabinets & Appliances that she is apparently a little bit of a gamer, having played a bunch of CS and dated a WoW player for a long time. Some of you may be thinking, "Wow, a girl gamer! My fantasy!" Well, don't feel bad, because you're in the same boat as my dear beloved roommate. Others are probably thinking, "Counterstrike? AND she dated a WoW player? Chump-ass noob IMO?" Right on!
So this girl plays games and is pretty cute. That right there is love to many people, and my roommate is included. He eventually mustered up the courage to ask Badgamer over for dinner and drinks, and she said she'd gladly come over. He even told her to bring a cute friend for me. What a champ!
BUT THEN...
Goodfriend informed Saltyballs that it would be just as friends. DENIED! FRIEND ZONED! AWFUL! My heart went out to my dear sweet beloved roommate in dealing with such a tragedy.
Now, you may be asking, "Where's this going, yubee? Both girls friend zoned your roommate. What does this have to do with you?" Fine, impatient readers, I'll get straight to the point.
Goodfriend and Badgamer came over last week as friends. It was fun! We all had fun, and Goodfriend and I drank heartily. Salty and Badgamer? Not so much. So when Goodfriend left early, Badgamer was alone, completely exposed to your intoxicated author. Normally I can be pretty shy and reserved, but when I drink a little bit, I UNLEASH MY TRUE POWER LIKE A PHOENIX EXPLODING IN AN INTENSE, FIERY HOT SUPERNOVA! YAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Badgamer enjoyed my personality enough that she /f a'd me on that horrible MySpace site, sent me a few comments, and orchestrated a plan with Goodfriend to come back over this Thursday. And this time she wants to drink.
Now I don't want to assume, you all know what happens when that happens! It makes an ass out of u and me! Get it? Anyway, I don't want to make any unfounded assumptions, but it sounds like this girl might just be interested in getting with me. The same girl who denied my roommate. The same roommate who has been extremely unsuccessful in getting ass his entire life, and is understandably kind of bitter about it. I mean, he gave them the A-OKAY right away when they propositioned drinking together again. For me that means even though he's in the friend zone with both of them, he's so hopeful isn't he? Poor guy. =[
So here's the big question. Do I risk hooking up with this girl if she comes onto me? Do I stick with the golden rule of bros before hoes? Do you think he would be upset if anything did happen? I'd talk to Saltyballs about it, but I hate getting personal with him since it can be very uncomfortable to delve into his relationship woes. What to do!?

Talk to him. Maybe he'll be ok with it. If he isn't, it's probably not worth alienating your roommate for a girl. If he is ok with it, then w00t for you!
Hopefully he'll understand that he's not going to get anywhere with her, so he has no reason to be upset. It's not like you're cockblocking him or anything.

I'm a firm believer that if a friend is trying to hook up with a girl and fails, then it is definitely ok for someone else to have a go. You need to make sure you talk to your friend though. Just ask him if he minds. If he says he does mind then hes kind of lame, but then it's on you whether or not to further pursue.

the thing about asking him is that even if he says it's okay, there's absolutely no way he's not going to feel some sort of jealousy or annoyance by the situation. these things manifest themselves in very ugly ways.
i think it's pretty unrealistic to just hope he'll be 'cool with it.' feeling really shitty is perfectly natural when your roommate is banging some girl you failed to get on the other side of a 2 inch wall.

He's asking a guy, not a girl. Sure it will suck for that night, but if hes normal then he will not care after that night. Of course if he isn't normal and has trouble finding women then I retract my post saying to go for it.

I really want to say "fuck her then leave her" attitude. But since your relationship w/ goodfriend and saltyballs might go downhill. I would explain to my friend the situation and ask him how he felt about it. Of course he'll say that he doesn't mind, but the truth is there will be some sort of animosity directed at the girl mostly. Which will leave you with the decision of sleeping w/ her then dumping her. You might even dump the girl by saying "I just want to be friends" then leaving her alone.
Your friend will understand you better and there won't be any conflict because you explained the situation. Besides why would you want to date a gamer girl or one that dated one for years? Seems more of a lust rather than a relationship. I would reiterate by saying "fuck her, then leave her" and don't forget to say I just want to be friends.

So there are 2 guys fighting over a girl. Let's call friend 1 SlayerS_`Boxer` and let's call friend 2 YellOw. The girl is OSL Cup. Boxer and YellOw are good friends (both going to the same school, same grade, same TKD class, same afterschool [along with me]) and Boxer meets the OSL cup in marching band.
Yellow, being good friends with boxer and playing the same instrument, also knows about this girl, except Yellow also has the hots for the OSL Cup

I'd say let her pursue you more than you pursuing her. You won't appear to your friend as trying to get with her or steal her from him, even though it's not what you're doing anyway he may perceive it as such. When you know she likes you (and you'll know without her having to tell you) you can tell your roommate that she likes you and if he'd mind that you go for her then. If he has a problem at that point, he has some maturity issues.

I think you have to go by the rule of bros before hoes anyday, specially if this guy is a loser and is ur friend, u could do some serious damage to his self confidence like u couldnt even imagine, the reason why is because he was the one that invited them and the one that in the first place cared about you enough to get a girl for you. If you woulda met her somewhere else and not through him its fair game.
