I don't understand what you're complaining about... As long as StarCraft exists, I'm content. I've liked every Mario and Zelda game I ever played, except maybe TWW... There's random shoot em up Bond games that are always cool, the Final Fantasy series is usually okay... You get odd gems like Body Harvest and Eternal Darkness too... Super Smash Brothers and Mario Kart are good games to play with a bunch of people... Half Life has always been considered a good series... I don't know what you're talking about really... If a game is bad, don't buy it and let the company lose money on it... It's their prerogative to make games that are good, because if logic serves me, that's what sells.

Or do they just want money? It makes me sad. It's a market. They are only concerned with money.

In today's industry it is more and more expensive to make games, and very very very few developers have complete creative and distributive freedom (being able to say "it's done when it's done) such as Blizzard, Valve, and id. While publishers like EA, Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo still push for creativity, they still have deadlines they need to enforce. And while I think it's still bad a lot of times (games getting released very buggy or just being a bad uncreative game), it is getting better. Actually I've noticed that it's the smaller publishers that are needing to rush out games more and more compared to the giants (EA/Activision), as they cannot afford to delay games as much as the bigger guys. It's sad that probably this time next console generation, there will only be about half as many publishers, but that's just the way businesses like this work out.

It's always console games first now, games that are awesome and fun for 2 weeks and die out a month later. There's much more money to be made in console games though so why wouldn't they focus on them? Very sucky situation for a PC gamer. I would say that about 99% of games (regardless of platform) die out very soon. Only a very few last a long time (SC, CS, WoW). Part of the problem with PC games is that more and more people are okay with playing FPSs on consoles, and that the PC market is not nearly as big as the consoles any more (what with the "high price" of buying a gaming PC). Not to mention that already in this small market, pirating is rampant (I even remember reading an old thread from this site where people debated whether or not to pirate Bioshock). Pirating above all else has made PC gaming the pathetic essence that it is today. Because of it, essentially all developers have gone console-first multi-platform development (besides Blizzard). It's a goddamned shame, but I don't really expect any more major AAA PC-only games to be released outside Blizzard ever again (I think Crysis is the last one). At least Valve still makes their games PC-first I guess.
