I will keep asking questions cuz I have an important test. "In general, how does quadrupling the sample size change the confidence interval width?" I know that if you increase the sample size, the length gets bigger, but why does the width get divided by 2? (the answer is the bold).   | ||

the sample size relates as follows z*(standard deviation)/(sqrt[samplesize]) so basically by increasing the sample size by a factor of 4 ur decreasing the interval by a factor 2 | ||

1. Does a small p-value indicate a strong evidence against the null hypothesis? 2. What is the alternative hypothesis (Ha) stated in terms of? I am also confused with Type I and Type II error =/ 4. What does it mean for p-value to be significant | ||

Type I: rejecting a true Ho Type II: failing to reject a false Ho example: Ho: John is fat Ha: John is not fat Type I error: I say John isn't fat (but he actually is) Type II error: I say John is fat (but he actually isn't) or Ho: The pokemon robbed the bank Ha: The pokemon didn't rob the bank Type I error: Judge rules that the pokemon isn't guilty (when he actually did rob the bank) Type II error: Judge rules against the innocent pokemon 4. um i dont think p-values are "significant" but i think the answer to what you're trying to say is that the results are unlikely to have occurred by random chance but i could be wrong... i'm bad at stats | ||
