Hello guys this is former progamer Fnatic.Rain.
I have arrived in US a day ago for school, Now I'm currently staying at a hotel in Sacramento.
Since it's my first time looking for an apartment in US, honestly I don't know what to do lool.
Apparently I have heard invididual's credit is very important when u r renting a house, unfortunately, I have no credits here. Luckily, I brought enough money in cash so I guess I can just pay 3 or 4 months rent in advance as a deposit moeny. But I'm not sure if its negotiable.
It would be appreciated if you can give me some information. My class starts very soon so I will comeback with some stories about school life as a retired Korean progamer.
I feel kind of bad using blog for asking a help but if u are currently living in Sacarmento and willing to help me please PM me  I guarantee I will reward you.

You should contact your school about housing in the area. Tell them you're a international student and need help on housing.

this is probably one of the better options. They'll probably have a lot of resources to help you out, definitely wouldn't hurt. Best of luck!

Hi Rain, how long will you be staying here for school? I assume you will be attending class at Sacramento State?

Keep looking. You can get an apartment with no credit history for sure, worst case scenario you will pay first, last and security deposit. If you look well enough you will find places with first and security, which is standard. If you dont like a landlord you can basically fuck him, you have more rights than they do. Dont freak out and keep looking. Good luck.

Dont worry too much about finding a place to rent. If you got some cash saved up you'll be able to get a place, somebody will take your money. Also, credit is a tool and can be very useful when used properly. I would suggest learning as much as you can about it.

and narrow things down with your price range and where you want to look for locations and start sending out emails and texts. In general credit doesn't matter too much for just renting a single room, especially near universities since most landlords around those areas are familiar with dealing with students.

Thanks to everyone who gave me good information. I contacted the school and they offered me homestay service so I will most likely stay someone else's house for the first few months. Starcraft club sounds pretty intense lool.
I was a bit frustrated earlier today cause I looked up few apartments around the school, tried to reach them but they were afk. Probably because it'sweekends. Anyway thank you again!!! <3

I'm pretty sure you can get scammed that way without having any documents saying that you are supposed to live there.

Would also recommend contacting your school first. Once you get settled and adjusted then you can shop around and use craigslist to find something cheap.
