So We've Started a Web Comic - Part 2

jeddus United States832 Posts March 27 2014 14:30 GMT #1 Thanks to everyone who visited our site, offered feedback, suggestions, and criticism. http://www.rcscomic.com Sam was at Megacon, a massive convention in Florida, and was able to introduce the strip to a lot of new readers. He, as creator and illustrator, was interested in the feedback he received from people on TeamLiquid, and said much of it was anticipated and appreciated, and we're working on improving the reader experience over at our comic. Sara, the writer, said it is just going to take a while before the content on the site will be substantial enough for regular readership. We are attempting to post new content every day of the week, to make up for the pace of the strip at the moment. Speed-sketching Saturdays, where Sam releases a high speed video of a quick sketch of a famous video game character... personally, the music gets a little tedious at times, but he's still figuring it out. . The current panel of the strip is still released every Tuesday http://www.rcscomic.com/?comic=rcs-006 Due to other contractual obligations, the comic is still being updated once a week, this is largely due to impending real world deadlines for clients, but after a few more commissioned pieces are completed we may see an increase in updated content on the site. On Wednesdays, Sara has a sort of aimless blog, The Settlers of Catandy Land, she's attempting to convert her boyfriend to accept sci-fi and geek culture, but he hates the stuff, supposedly, so this week she was working on his conversion On Thursdays I do the gaming blog, The Old Rusty Gamer, where I chronicle my experiences in gaming and apply media analysis techniques used in the industry to the games I am playing through. y0su Finland7871 Posts March 27 2014 21:37 GMT #2 I think you should probably wait until you have a little more content (in the comic itself). You want something a little more solid than two sentences a week to draw people into when you're developing a character based content imo. I have an online comic I've been reading consistently for 15 years. I also read a hand-full of other web-comics regularly. The combination of robot-cowboy-samurai intrigues me but nothing is happening I really get that you guys are limited in how much you can produce, but I'd consider trying to at least get the start of a story going (get close to that "narrative hook"). then update weekly. Unrelated, the site loads very slowly for me. Anyway, I'm wishing you guys the best. I think it's awesome that you're working on a sort of passion project with siblings. Really cool. As I said earlier, I like the concept. I also think the art style works very well.
