how did pro players find their teams?

Somehow I managed to find myself a team a month ago, but right after winning a prized tournament I got kicked out of it. In starcraft I belive it's much easier to find a team because you don't rely on anybody to practice, but in team games I think it's much harder to get noticed and invited to play on a team.

How did pro gamers find their teams? I'm in a position where I'm completely lost and I'm not sure what I should do to find another team to compete.

If you get grandmasters and have no team-symbol in your username then random people will often message you because there are a bunch of lower-end teams looking for ungrabbed talented players.

Work your way up from there

Honestly you just get to a high level of play, play with and against pro players, if you're on SC2 just get high on ladder and play a lot, if you are a manner guy then people might start wanting to practice with you, and from there it's just a matter of playing in a lot of tournaments and getting your name out there. If it's something like Dota2/CS, you have to play a lot with and against good players. A lot of "new" pros in games like Dota pop up because a team needs a stand in and they pull in a guy who they've played a lot with.

No pro player has even found their team through ladder. Tournament results are the way to get recognized.

They don't. Teams find them. Through ladder, tournaments and knowing people.

This is so untrue. Ladder gets you on lower level teams, which then provide a means for you to participate in more tournaments, if you have success there you start to have bigger opportunities from bigger teams. But it all starts on the ladder.

Just because it's not a top tier pro team doesn't make it any less of a pro team. Just about everybody who was on teams like CheckSix or ItsGosu or a huge amount of other teams were picked up because they either stood out on the ladder or participated in the community. Those teams maybe didn't give people a salary, but they still flew players to events.which got the players more exposure and experience and allowed the good ones to move on to bigger and better teams.
