Hi guys this is former progamer Fnatic.Rain
I'm writhing this because it will help me to improve my english skills and also i can keep in touch with e-sports.

Since i have retired, my life has changed a lot
I spent most of time in learning english cause i wanted to go university in the states or aboard
but it was harder than i've expected and I was kinda running out of money so I decided to work at WCG.

and I recently started to stream a lot actually I haven't played Terran in hots before because I really hate losing with my Main race so I only played offraces on ladder.
and i started to play Terran like a week ago and it was pretty amusing I was astonished that i still have some viewers

in retrospect, life as progamer was slightly better than now
This is like a prologue and I will post more things later.
thanks for reading this and if you find any grammar mistakes please let me know <3

Hello Rain. =)

I hope you continue to stream your Terran play. I've always enjoyed watching you play <3 I think your English is really good! I made some corrections to your post. All of the corrections are in bold font. However, despite being a native English speaker, my grammar isn't the best

I think its awesome that you are learning English, and I hope you continue to have success with it. You are doing great so far!

^ This is called a "run-on sentence." Each sentence needs a subject + a verb. You can combine two sentences into one by using a comma and a conjunction. However, you can't combine more than two complete sentences.

"I spent most of my time learning english because I wanted to go to university in the states or abroad." (1 complete sentence)

"It was harder than I expected." (1 complete sentence)

"I was kind of running out of money so I decided to work at WCG." (1 complete sentence)

You can combine two of those sentences. If you combine all three into one sentence, it becomes a "run-on sentence."

I'm sure there are some grammar buffs out there that will find plenty of things wrong with own post. Please go easy on me lol T.T; I know I'm terrible at it, but I wanted to try and help.

I feel like "was harder than I expected" and "was kinda running out of money" should be kept together if it was a joint cause that caused him to work at WCG. Otherwise, it feels disconnected and that the only reason he decided to work at WCG was the fact that he was running out of money and not that learning English was harder than he expected

I rather think he wanted to say "was harder than I expected to find a university in US".

The way I read it was that he wanted to go study abroad, but the process required to do that was more difficult than he expected so he didn't.

Could be either or. Anyway.

Your English is very coherent and I'm glad to see that you're making an effort to break your ideas into separate paragraphs (something that even many native English speakers don't do). Since this is a gaming-forum, there are certain grammatical errors that people make all the time but even the grammar nerds don't complain about. Things like not capitalizing words that should be capitalized, not always writing in complete sentences (as long as the main idea is still understandable), and using smiley faces and other icons/ meme references (as long as it's not from Twitch chat!) So keep that in mind when you read through the forums!

he's better than me. I'm impressed "pretty amusing" sounds like such natural slang.

@rain in retrospect life as a progamer is better? That's too bad but maybe it's just your mind convincing you. "you want what you can't have"

aboard = on a boat. You mean abroad. Abroad is away from home.

I never thought i'd be on a boat

you don't need advanced level of english to really study in university.
they care more about whether you can bring out the points that they want.
"precise and condensed" as one of my tutor once told me

your level seems perfectly ok, especially compared to some chinese undergrads that I know

Is Starcraft scene in Korea oversaturated right now?

There is a lot of players under teams like azubu that we rarely hear about, do they live with the team and practice a lot? Or are they just casual players.

Thanks for the(?) grammatical corrections!
As a non-native speaker the hardest part is "article" (the / a)
I also confuse those things (that/which , who/whom)
Since Korean language doesn't have "present perfect", Sometimes I confuse with "past"
ex) I have purchased HOTS!
ex) I purchased HOTS!

By the way, I'm going to post my feelings at the past tournaments !
It will start with 2010 GSL open season 1! hope you guys are enjoyed

Your English is great! I'd love to achieve your level of fluency in a foreign language one day, but I don't see it happening. T__T

"Thanks for the grammatical corrections!" = correct, because you are talking about the specific grammatical corrections that people have made for you in this thread.

"The" = a specific thing.
"A/an" = an unspecific thing.

Ex1: "Give me the book!" = Give me that specific book.
Ex2: "Give me a book!" = Give me any book.

There's another slightly more complicated way to look at it: "The" refers to old information, and "a/an" refers to new information that the speaker introduces into the sentence.

Ex3: "I read a book last week. The book was not very good." = The first time I mention the book, I am introducing a new item into the conversation, so I use "a/an." But in the second sentence, the listener/reader now knows that I am talking about that book I read last week; it is now old information, so I can use "the book."

I hope that makes sense, but let me know if it doesn't. I'll write more on the other grammar things if nobody else chimes in, but I need to collect my thoughts on them a little bit. It's always difficult to explain grammar.
